I love that, as opposed to most makers on KZbin, you actually acknowledge budget as a constraint many will be like "ik ur poor so just use this affordable option!" and it's something that costs like $200 but here you actually make sure your tutorials are accessible for people who can't buy fancy software and I think that's really cool

2:35 IMO, Fusion's 3D navigation is MUCH more intuitive if you change the Pan/Zoom/Orbit setting to "Tinkercad" in general preferences. That gives you: Select - Left button Orbit - Right button Zoom - Scroll Pan - Hold scroll

I can see how Fusion's default menu navigation (Right button) would make workflows very fast with experience, but it's not easy to get used to, and for a beginner when you are just trying to get the hang of everything at once, and already have to think through every step, it's not a chore to go to the menu's and know where everything is located that way... I really gave the 'right click' navigation a good try so I could learn the efficient way to access things right off the bat, but after using the right mouse button at least 50 times to try to orbit around the object and ended up selecting undo or delete or repeat or any other random thing you land on when you expect to be zooming around the object to see it from the other side (but instead get a stacked menu wheel),,,,, I got fed up and changed to "tinkercad" navigation... SO much better.. I still get hesitations before right clicking after all the trouble it caused originally, but if you're familiar with tinkercad, i don't see the harm in switching to this to make Fusion feel a lot less foreign in the beginning... Good tip!

For newcomers to Fusion, I highly recommend going into preferences and selecting the reverse zoom direction option. Usually, in fusion, if you scroll upwards, you zoom out instead of in as it usually is and vice versa, if you scroll down, you zoom in. If you select this option, it becomes much easier.

I am just starting out with Fusion 360 and although the basics were relatively easy to pick up, there are a lot of 'rules' and things when you get down the modelling path that either make it very easy to change things, or excruciatingly complicated... It's obviously all in the experience and knowledge, so i'm really happy you are doing a fusion tutorial and I hope you can do more... Even beginner tutorials can reveal those one or two things that make life a lot easier.

Awesome tutorial. I'm pretty good in SketchUp, but since watching several of your videos on Fusion360, I can see how much more powerful it is than SketchUp. Thanks, Angus. You have inspired me to get into 3D printing. I'm a hobbiest and I love making things myself. There is no better satisfaction than taking an idea or image from my head and turning it into a physical object. But art and woodworking can only go so far, I think 3d printing is going to open up soo many new doors for me. Keep making these great videos and I'll keep watching!

You can get a selectable list of items under your cursor in Fusion 360 by holding down the left house button over where you know an obscured item resides. This works for everything, axis included. That way you don't have to move stuff around to select something that isn't in the current view.

Hi Angus, thanks for the interesting vid. Have you ever tried the software "freecad"? I am using this since my first steps in 3D-printing in March 2017, because I wanted to avoid dealing with regulations, registration etc. what Autodesk requires for F360 even for private use. Because of your really interesting tutorials to F360 I have installed it too, but anytime, when I want to create a new part, I use freecad. No internet, and in my opinion a quite powerful tool, which is even available for Windows, Linux and Mac. I have gone through some tutorials for freecad, but I miss a good one of you. What do you think? Would it be possible for you to have a closer look on this software? I would appreciate it very much!
