Hey, i learned this stuff in university. However I couldnt find a Job and had a mental breakdown (not only because of the job thing). I know am unable to work and I can turn to getting Therapy. What I wanted to say is, i stopped drawing and 3D when i got mentally really bad and especially for 3D i have a deep frustration and anxiety to even touch it, cause my brain connects it to the experience of not getting a Job and not being good enough. I recently found your Shorts. I feel like they help me fighting my anxiety because you show me how simple alot of stuff is, where I usually get panicky because i yet lack the right thinking how to model things. Thanks. Im hoping to at least getting back to it as a Hobby, because i enjoy it.

Good topology has left chat
@s.w.44099 ай бұрын
Good topology only matters for video games, animation and such. Not really relevant for still frames like this.
@MrPeepa9 ай бұрын
@@s.w.4409 good topology matters because good topology makes you a better and more efficient 3d modeler. Take for instance in this video the same effect, for the cookie, could be achieved quicker if a cylinder was used. Nowadays because of hardware advancements newer 3d modelers tend to make these mistakes which affect their workflow unbeknownst to them. If they would have to worry about memory and hardware limitations then these mistakes would be actively avoided. So good topology matters everywhere regardless of what its being modeled for as it makes you a better 3d modeler.
@SignalRaptor_8 ай бұрын
Indeed. The topology could have been easily separated using blender's vertex groups to split the material, or even just texture the uv map of the cylinder. There was no need to make the cookie 3 objects, this is needless computation that makes the render take longer for no reason. It might not be that big a deal here with this project but it's a bad habit to make connected objects separate entities

@ArmyFrogАй бұрын
Realistically, Oreos don’t have such fine detail because they’re small. The pattern would have lots of imperfections to the point that some areas might be indistinguishable from the cookie texture. Additionally, the crumby detail would very largely in size rather than being generally uniform here. The crumbs are ok, but they’re not enough. Ultimately, this Oreo looks like it’s the size of a cake.
