3D Printed Air Raid Siren - Thingiverse

Here is a neat 3D printed project that I found on Thinigiverse. It is a hand cranked Air Raid Siren.. I always love projects that do somthing, and this project has gears, and makes noise, and i feel really demonstrates the power 3D printing! This took me over a month of printer parts at the library.. The Fairfax county libraries offer a free 3D printing service, which I have decided to take full advantage of.. I feel it is always nice to see how the projects will come out before you make them.. and here is a great example of a project that really works well!! Fun for the whole family!

LUBRICATION!!!! it makes a whole lot of difference. i tryed, and i'll never try out again gears or spinning things without lubrication. I used seeds oil from the kitchen.

Yes, But Fairfax has a free printing service at the libraries.. unfortunately they have made special rules to discriminate against me printing large objects any longer.. and it is the library with the largest printer.. None of the other branches do this.. Only the one branch.. abuses their mighty power of controlling the largest 3D printer!! I have found the whole world seems to be run by people who are put in charge of things.. they have no business being in charge of.. Anyway.. it is an interesting project.. and seem to work pretty good for a 3d printed thing.. Thanks again for the great comments!..

Seems like a lot of the issues with this build has to come from using the library’s service which probably prints on different machines that are all calibrated differently. Had it all been printed on the same machine in one print it you probably would not have as many quality issues with pieces not fitting.

Since I have live here in the Communist state of Fairfax.. I have probably paid close to 1 Million $$$ dollars in taxes to these shysters... and for that.. I have received a few hours of 'free' 3D print service.. It's not an "air-raid siren" just because it sucks in air and chops it up to make its sound, even with two simultaneous tones. Air-raid sirens are HUGE and VERY LOUD! This is just a two-tone mechanical siren in general.

Yes, but the main purpose of this type of siren was to warn of air raids durning the second world war all the way through the Cold War. The local air raid warden would run around through neighborhoods blasting these things to warn people to take cover and seek a proper shelter

I am not sure what criterion that YT uses to place videos in their search engines.. but the number of likes vs. dislikes does not seem to be a common correlation, with the number of views??
