Slick design. You probably already know this but sites like Mcmaster sell flanged brass bushings in many standard sizes. Combined with shoulder bolts this is an easy way to accomplish the smooth pivots as in your design minus the lathe time. Another slick design trick is making small cylindrical bosses where the bolts clamp up. Throw a fillet or some draft on these and they spread the clamp force wider into the part yet. Common on ductile iron castings for heavy trucks.

3D printing tools and tooling is legitimately one of the best uses of the technology possible. These can be rough and don't need to be "distribution ready" so long as they help out on the shop floor.

you could also modify the geometry of the hex cutout to be more of a 6 point star shape to compensate for the printer's tendency to round off edges

A great technique! That's what I do with buffer threads, extend the corner away from the interfacing part to prevent interference. Unfortunately there is just not much room on the little levers.

Now make a contraption to make barrel rifling
@noahmcabee25346 ай бұрын
My first thought. You could probably use this if you had a series of progressively larger rifling buttons
@darktrojan006 ай бұрын
@@noahmcabee2534 well it could be as easy as a spiral shaft and a single cutter essentially cutting every groove
@noahmcabee25346 ай бұрын
@@darktrojan00 nahh it would take so much work and redesign to use that press it would be much simpler to just use buttons. It would be easier and a higher quality product in every way. With a single cutter you'd have to get your spiral from the up and down function and repeatability would be an issue and so would wear, tool sideload and tolerance. You might take 10 thousands off the sidewall but it would be accompanied by 30thou on the machine. Definitely possible if upscaled by about 350% but then printing would be the problem. This is one of those jobs perfect for using a 3dprint to make a metal casting.

Please make a 3d BULLPUP LOWER FOR ar-15 UPPERS that use 3.5 inch buffer tubes. The 3.5 inch tube to keep standard size, reliable, and upgradeable bolt carrier groups and compatibility with certain kinds of triggers 👀. The 3d BPAR-15 with its 3.5in buffer incorperation and the (unreleased) 3d FM15 bullpup lower has figured out a forward mag release. Those are close to an "end product" but this concept needs a professional like you to be able to trust the design for serious use consideration. Your ar15 designs are proven, I think people would want an ar15 bullpup evolution they can trust. Charging handle cheek rest solutions are the right side charging Beer Creek Arsenal uppers, Gibbz Arms non-reciprocating left side charging upper receivers, and the Devil Dog Concepts’ Side Charging Handle System.
