LOVE! Your expression of opinion about the "super janky" enclosures! Classic! EDIT: So, I paused right after said expression to make that comment. Made my comment. And, resumed play. Only to roll in to your plea to Kara for the printer. The Peanuts voice almost made me spit my shandy all over my monitor! Love it!

Being a techie, I really like what you've done with the Raspberry Pis and all the 3d printed stuff. That's what originally got me interested in the videos. However, so much more has kept me watching. It seems you have an engineer background or have a great mind for this type of stuff. I know you're someone thirsty for knowledge, if nothing else. Excellent work. I hate you had so many issues with the 3d printer, but try, try, try again. Thanks for showing the not-so-pretty side as well. It would be easy to just show us all the successes.

You two are TOO MUCH! I just love your humor. Your technical expertise and fabrication skills are top notch, very inspiring and you are both quite entertaining. I used to make a living in the Aerospace Industry designing embedded systems using Z80s/8251s/8X300/68Ks and their derivatives. Also some 4 Bit Slice work. But now, as a long time retiree and just for the fun of it, I play with Arduinos/STM32s/ESP32s/etc. Lately I've been focusing on the ARM 'M4' series of hardware/software and SBCs in general. Check out the UDOO Bolt V8. Its a real doozie! I've been a 4Wheeler for 50+ years and because of my tech background and interests, your project and all its component parts have been more than very interesting to me. While watching the first of your vids that I stumbled on I thought, "Wow, look what this guy's doing. This is great stuff". Much of what you've done in design/build/travel parallels with what I'm trying to do with a 2000 Ford Expy/4X4/5.4, but without the custom box. My project only needs to accomidate myself and an 80Lbs GSD. It's a work in progress that's turned into a long drawn-out project which now has me in contention for the title of The World's Greatest Procrastinator! HaHa I've saved your playlist and watched several of its vids, some twice, and will watch the entire sequence probably more than once for more insperation. Lots of realy great info and your explanations are text book quality. Love your work and accomplishments and love Kara. When she gets in front of the camera, she's 'On-Stage'. What a HAM. HaHa...She's great! Speaking of HAMs, have you considered Amateur Radio to go along on your travels? You can talk next door or talk across the world for little money. $50 for a 2/440 Hand Held = local and satellite comms. $100 for a 2Mtr mobile rig for local work. $50 kit for CW (Morse), $130 or $180 kits for SSB (Phone). CW and SSB gives you world wide comms. If you get hooked, plan on buying a $500 to $1000 or $2000 toy from time to time. Of course, some spend many thousands to do the same things but there's no real need for that kind of money to be able to play radio. It's great fun and u meet wonderful people, plus a few Jerks too. Its a great World Wide Fraternity. Come see the North East in spring/summer. Very refreshing. Especially NH in mid/late spring and the ME coast in early summer. Plus you can ferry between Portland ME and Halifax NS. 73 Russ in NH KA1RUW PS: Your inspiration now has me thinking of using your construction technique to build a raised roof with a forward overhang for my SUV. Just what I needed, another project. DARN YOU...... PPS: Hope to meet up someday.....

Yes, it's a Gree mini split AC, it's nice because the compressor is completely outside, connected with an ambilical, so it's fairly quiet and efficient. I could almost run it exclusively on solar using the 4 panels I had last year, but with the upgrade to 8 panels @ 1.4kw, we'll be made in the shade!

A few things for you sir: great videos love all the little details, came for the Pi builds stayed for the laughs. Sorry I missed you in Flagstaff we were staying further north and as you know it was a chilly Arizona weekend. Started my Pi build and ran into some snags with the free Open Auto version and as much as I can tell it seems to be related to the Google Play Services version I am running on my Pixel 2 XL, 17.4.55. I resolved it by trying the paid version of the app, worked without issue. Did you run into any similar issue? Using your scripts for button monitor also work great. I have been tinkering with methods to incorporate other cameras and speculating on how you have. Looking for any updates on your camera project to help streamline mine. Thanks for all the input and videos.

@@Everlanders Well I was afraid it had something to do more with me. Did you run all your cameras with a HDMI to ribbon adapter? I had considered making a small LAN network for 3 cameras or so and attempting a WLAN run with a Pi Zero W for a once in a while on the rear of the trailer. With the individual boards being located at static IPs I thought that might be the best way to toggle through them or select something specifically. I would also feel more comfortable routing a Cat5 cable as opposed to ribbon or HDMI

I have 4 of the cameras on the LAN but for low latency I have the rear facing one on the Ribbon cable.

Another awesome video! Can I ask why you didn't use PETG filament? I've used it a lot and it's quite temperature resistant and pretty easy to print with
@Everlanders
@Everlanders 3 жыл бұрын
For a camera pod carrying electronic components in a hash outdoor environment it is easy to get ABS to be fully waterproof with a quick vapor smoothing and/or painting a thick layer of ABS juice on the inside surfaces. If a PETG print has slight layer adhesion issues there is not much that can be done post print - ABS can easily be strengthened with a trip down vapor lane... I print primarily PETG now, but this video is quite old and ABS and ASA was still my go-to filament back then.

Not quite yet, I'm trying to get the pi to work first. Instead of just running android auto on it I wanna run full android. I'm a car audio installer and I had already changed my head unit to one that supports android auto. I'm hoping that once I install android the radio will see the pi as a phone and boot up android auto. That way I will have sort of a dual screen setup up top. I could do maps on the top and music on the bottom screen or vice versa. I'm also contemplating on installing a third battery to keep the pi on all the time as use it as a remote security system with some cheap usb web cams and an android app. I should also be able to interface with a dash cam through their android app. My main reason though is to run the Torque Pro app for custom gauges and the ability to read check engine codes with a bluetooth obd2 adapter.
