Yes, I love Temu for the good stuff that's on there. But a lot of it is various sorts of scams. If you buy filament from there, I have had really good deals. But ALWAYS CHECK THE WEIGHT. Often enough you see 'deals' where you see a 1kg spool on the picture, the price is really good for 1 kg. But then you check the item, and the weight of the spool is actually 250 gram. So the effective price is 4x as much.

Tool… I’ve been 3-D printing for about a year now and I have pretty much every single tool that you mentioned. I probably paid more for everything but a lot of stuff I got on Temu…. One thing that I can’t live without is a nail drill…. This is a tool that’s typically used in nail salons it’s basically a small handheld rotary tool that has bits that grind away your fingernails but the bits work surprisingly well on plastic I’ve gone through a few of the cheaper ones and the motors eventually wear out but I’ve got one of the bigger units with a rechargeable USB battery pack and a digital speed regulator knob… and it’s absolutely fantastic for cleaning up 3-D prints with so many different bits. It can get into anywhere you need to get into. I think I spent $32 Australian on it. There are cheaper and there are more expensive but this one seems to be lasting me quite well, it’s a separate battery with the controls on it and a coiled cable that connects to the rotary tool. It makes cleaning any 3-D print very short work.

This is called 'dropshipping' factories do not have anything in stock, they sell directly the stuff that rolls out. This means that products are always 'limited' 'almost sold out'. But 5 days later a new batch is on that's again selling out soon. Also always check the actual price and ignore the '80% off' that's already listed on the normal price. I have never seen a product on Temu with less than '50% off'...

@DaveRigDesign
@DaveRigDesign 2 ай бұрын
The normal prices on the stuff I picked up were less than what I’ve seen elsewhere so not a huge difference. I think the hot staple gun was the most expensive item at $25 or so.
@Konradius001
@Konradius001 2 ай бұрын
The 90% off was from the 'regular' prices that are already supposedly '50-70% off'. Still, I for that code to work you need to use the app, and I do not trust such an app on my pc or mobile. Still, a large silicone mat is still a great deal for less than €5. The 50 cents is really just giving it away for future return customers. Oh, and of course you also need to get at least €20 ($20?) of products before they will even sell anything to you. But then the transport is free (!).

Ive brought a few things for 3D printing off Temu. I found a intresting thing to get supports out of REALLY tight places, Lock picks!!! Some are barbed so you can slide it in, twist and pull, Great for getting support out of small holes rather than having to drill it out.

Tool 1 - 3DGloop - for really sticking parts together - but does dry out over a couple of years, if not used. 2 - Magigoo - for great 'glass bed' adhesion. Lasts for quite a few prints even if only printing sporadically. when hot almost impossible to remove, until cool, and then print just releases. When bed needs cleaning - water washes it of easily.

Those tools make my German Heart sad. "Good tools" you say. This is mostly junk. If you want pliers, buy Knipex, If you want Hex Keys go with Wera and so on.
@DaveRigDesign
@DaveRigDesign 2 ай бұрын
If you have the money, sure. It’s all relative, you’re working on 3D prints, not a rocket so the caliber of tools can scale with the task at hand. I’ve rebuild car engines with pretty janky tools :) Nice tools are nice, and sometimes needed depending on precision needed for the task. But if not needed it’s a luxury and if a tool works it works.

@@DaveRigDesign How are the Prices of proper Tools where you live? Here in Germany proper Tools Like Knipex dont cost much more than cheap Tools. A good Set of pointy pliers you showed in the Video costs about 25€ here, thats about 28 $ You are deffinetly right when you say If you only need your Tools sometimes and maybe only for 3D printing then cheap Tools will do. I use them for much more than Just 3D printing then i guess its different.

Unfortunatly, those kind of heatset inserts aren't meant for 3d printing. Those kinds are used in injection moulding. For 3d printing you need to have threads along the whole lenght of heatset insert so that it can "bite" better into plastic

These still work pretty well. There have been a few channels that did strength test ( CNC kitchen, Made with layer, …) and this style still works well. Especially if you have a part you need to insert/remove the screws often.

I absolutely disagree with buying low quality then upgrading. Low quality tools lead to low quality output and then people give up on the hobby. After half a lifetime of trying various crafts and home repair with lower quality tools and getting poor output, several years ago I started buying high-end consumer grade or less expensive professional tools and everything from house painting, drywalling, nail art, resin art, jewelry making, and more ACTUALLY comes out as desired if using the tools the pros use. I've seen the same over and over in the maker spaces. People give up because they're trying to get a nice result with crap tools. That's not to say that certain supplies from chinese retailers won't work. But be very cautious in what you don't put money into. Disposable nail files, sure. Solder iron and staple welder, not so much. Also, don't use kn95s, ESPECIALLY from a Chinese retailer. They aren't as stringent on testing and since they're not the healthcare standard in the US, and therefore don't have to comply with the same regulations and scrutiny, testing has shown imports aren't meeting the advertised filtering. Always use a fit-tested N95. They're gonna cost but it's cheaper than lung disease.
