hi Helen, it's me again. I thought about something, using Makerbot or maybe Cura, we can make a csm that is larger to use the thicker yarn and also to make projects bigger than socks. What do you think about this idea? I am still waiting for my husband to bring the machine in the guest room, so I can start printing. I just might do it myself.

Hi, yes there is a FB group where someone said they were designing a hat circular knitting machine. Let me find the link, and I'll send it to you.

hi Helen, from Mr Roboto, he says to print the cylinder upside down, I have the Creality Ender 3 too. How do I print the cylinder upside down, as he suggested? I don't understand that?
@HelenSiersKnittingfingers2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The reason is that the cylinder is narrower at the bottom and the body expands creating an edge that hangs in the air. I made the mistake of printing the firts one upside up and I had to do a lot of filing because of the rough edges, it didn't work. Ultimately I had to print another one. It was a waste of time and material. If you don't flip the model before you print it, you will have to add supports and that causes another set of problems. I avoid supports whenever I can. I hope this helps good luck.

@@HelenSiersKnittingfingers Hi yes, I understand, I just don't know how to flip the files in the program. I think it was Cura, they said. Also, how do I add or subtract slots, does Cura do that too?
@HelenSiersKnittingfingers2 жыл бұрын
@@knit1924 I use Cura, open the file, and there's an option to flip it, then you slice it and save it to the SD card that came with the machine. Now you can print it. Changing the cylinder number of slots isn't easy if you don't know basic 3D modeling. Mr.Robotto19 uses Fusion360, which is a 3D design software, and he provided the files. You can open them in Fusion360 and modify them. If you don't know how to do that, go to Thingiverse and search for knitting machine models. A lot of people had created different cylinders from Mr.Robotto's original models.

@@HelenSiersKnittingfingers thank you so very much!! I downloaded Cura and locked the file to flip all at once!! I did it, now to get my 3D printer up and running!! Thanks again!!

Hi Helen, Mr Roboto says that you can add slots or take away slots in Fusion 360? Do you know how to do this? Also, I wonder about changing the slot size to accommodate an 8mm or 9mm needle, similar to what the flat bed bulky knitting machines use??
@HelenSiersKnittingfingers2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, however Fusion360 is not and easy software to learn. You must upload the files Mr.Robotto19 posted and change them there. I am still learning and it isn't easy to explain. I am planning on posting a video as soon as I master it, but I don't know when that will happen.

Hi how can I get one
@HelenSiersKnittingfingers10 ай бұрын
You can get the files from Thingiverse and 3D print your machine. If you don't own a 3D printer, you may ask if your library offers 3D printing services, or search online for a 3D print service.
