A drop-in replacement case that looks more like a GameCube and doesn't require any soldering, it's like a dream come true. The 1.0 design looks pretty slick; it'd probably look a little nicer in other colours, yeah, but I think the big thing for improving the visuals would be making the top part have clip holes to support an official top jewel. There's been a lot of custom ones, too, that are of similar quality. Having the centre piece sport that reflective, glossy black will probably finish the look a lot more. The front panel also being grey might help, but that's another 'just colours' thing.

Want to blow your mind? Look up Wii trimming. You can cut down the Wii motherboard to be the size of an altoid tin

Yeah it's insane. There is currently an ultra small Wii called the "Nintendo Kawaii" that's a 2 part thing which i believe is now the smallest Wii.

The Kawaii fits on a hecking keychain and docks into a 2nd part with inputs including gamecube controller ports.

FYI you can remove the circular GameCube emblem on the console.

The only sad thing about the faulty disk drive is not being able to play mario kart wii ctgp and some other rivolution mods that expect you to play with discs.

If your soldering skills are good enough you can try the GameCube nano mod, to have the smallest GameCube ever posible and hdmi output

That's why I kept all my consoles. I still have SNES, Gameboy and Sega Mega. When I want all in one RetroPie is used.

I'm on the lookout for retro consoles.... I have a hardcore retro gamer in my life. We have adopted many consoles and parts over the years.

@@kestendavis8753 It depends what retro games, what consoles or PC. I am satisfied with RetroPie (Raspbery Pi). Easy to setup.

You should really get a wii2hdmi adapter so you can get way better image clarity out of it. The mayflash wii2hdmi adapter is one of the best adapters I've seen.

I like the GameCube style cases but I would personally love it in indigo or to make it more like the OG cube a old GameCube cases and mod it abit more to fit the DVD drive and SD card but I do like everything I sew the Wii case would look great for a retro console to play Xbox/ Nintendo/ Gameboy(DS) and PlayStation games

I have 10x Gamecubes, a few with offical component cabes of course one of each color and some from Japan, all which has matching Gameboy Player, and Panasonic Q, I have a few Wii's laying around and this might be another project to tinker

this is a great project - definitely going on my to-do list. for the model that allows use of the disc drive, how do you access it? is there a slot or something? couldn't really tell at a glance

I'm working on adding a second version that has a slot and mounting brackets for a working disc drive. For now it can be accessed by lifting the top cover.
