3D Printed Gravitrax Solenoid Marble Cannon

Here is another electric Gravitrax compatible marble lift. It is based on a small inexpensive solenoid.

HI... Nice! And how do you create the solenoid boost (the box ...?)? and the firing frequency .., that you have mounted something with an arduino or similar, and a code ...? can you share it?

Salut! The ramps I am using are not 3d printed, they are from the gravitrax set but some people have made some 3d printable ones on thingiverse :-)

Your solenoid is really nice to push a ball, i bought one (12vdc 2.5a 45N) but it is not pushing my metalic ball as fast as yours. Is there a reason ?

The solenoid I am using is a really small 5V solenoid and to get it to push the marbles fast I am powering it with short 30V pulses. You may need to use a higher voltage and make sure that the power source you are using delivers enough current to the solenoid. Solenoids need a lot of power and are not particularly efficient. It is also important to power them only for a short time otherwise they heat up and melt :-). Cheers, Franck
