I've thought about doing something similar instead of paying for a custom steel tool.

With 3d printing, you can make embossing plates to fit your pattern pieces perfectly and even index on pre-cut pieces so that your alignment is perfect every time. You can even 3d scan existing tooled pieces and make a 3d model for embossing plates. I'd like to see you print a detailed embossing plate for an existing pattern or make an embossing wheel for straps or borders.

I regularly use my 3d printer for making embossing plates and templates for patterns. If I've got a high volume item I'll make two plates, one the exact end size of the piece and another 2.5 mm bigger that has all of the punching holes. I roughly cut using the large plate, then use binder clips to hold the leather on it allowing me to punch all of the holes using one of those arbor style presses with the appropriate punch. The exact size plate has a couple of pins on it that correspond to the punched hole size to locate the piece, add a few binder clips for stability, then I cut using the edge of the template as my cut guide. One secret for embossing is to use your slicer's "Ironing" setting This will get a much better surface finish on the plate so you are less likely to see artifacts on the embossed piece and you will likely not have to sand the part at all. I'd recommend getting one the deburring tools to go around and soften the edges if necessary. I use Fusion 360 in sheetmetal mode to make any templates for bags that have large radiuses. Since most of your stuff is fairly flat at first you'd probably be fine with using the normal 3d design mode. If you've got questions feel free to get in touch.

my first thought was will it print tandy style craft aids? that would speed tooling along.

i'd wondered if this was useable for leatherwook. or whether the prints woul djust break. Would be interesting to see how detailed you can get with it. How small text can it manage before the print breaks.

Yeah I'll have to test the limits and see. I have a desktop CNC video series planned too so anything 3D printing can't do, that will definitely handle!

I'm intresting in buying theqidi X-MAX 3 but is the bed housing made out of plastic.From what i can see it looks like plastic and if it's the case it will melt when bed is at 110 degrees when printing Abs.
