I also got a 3D printer and was very impressed on how good is at printing mechanical parts, the ability to make perfect gears, without needing a lathe and a milling machine with a universal dividing gear and all the tooling involved, and make the parts autonomously, it's a game changer. Plus it generates waaaay less trash and it's cheaper. Now I'm like "Why the hell didn't I get one sooner???"

I wonder if your camera lens is perhaps a bit dusty because of the slight haze in your broadcast.

In prusaslicer you can import files in imperial units. File -> Import -> Import STL (Imperial Units)

I still can't mentally picture how you have the centre part rotate to determine the driving direction. But using a simple 2ch remote is also brilliant. I really feel like you missed out on a huge profit with the toy company the 1st time around.

wild, i have been researching planetary and cycloidal gears and 3d printing test stuff for last couple weeks and now my fave YT'er is talkin gear ratios and printing gears!

If you have to print multiple smaller items you should check for the option " print one at a time". But then you need to insert the parts all seperate too. And you have to make sure your slicer has the information for the printers needed print head space programmed in. ( I use cura slicer and am not sure prusa also have this option to print one by one). But If you set the slicer to " print one by one" you should see the maximum build height reduce a lot and after you insert a part you should see a dark area around that represents the head space claim. So the next item can overlap dark area but the part itself can not touch the dark spaceclaim area of the other parts. If you print this way you will get rid of all the fuzz in between individual parts. leading to cleaner prints in general. I think the spider robot design is a real genius one. well done.

prusaslicer has it under Print Settings > Output Options > Complete individual objects and there are options for extruder clearance if needed

I'm getting ready to print and build one of those scale rc excavators. My intention is to design my own purpose built rc vehicles. That would do different task. Like gardening task and many more. It's amazing the quality you can get these days from a 3d printer.

Hey Jamie, long time fan. Loved the giant robot project. Will you consider making the mark5 available for other advantuee builders. Will definitely become a hit. I'll build one with my son.

Why don't you move to a mountain top and build a giant aluminum spider robot and a trampoline geodesic house and cut your own lumber? Oh wait, that was last life time ago. You are an inspiration to us all.

nice to see a robot again. its been a while btw have you ever tried the 3d modeling program rhino? i use it a lot and i think you would love it. Grasshopper is partially fun as well im also a big fan of cura as far as slicers go
@JMEMantzel8 ай бұрын
I do have an old version of rhino... I might have to check it out. I've used Solidworks a lot, but it crashes, and makes bad STL files. I'm attempting to learn FreeCAD but it's so convoluted. I might scrap that. ....still giving it a chance, though.
