He said he was doing an episode on common print trouble shooting next and already talked about fumes, noise, the complexity of scrappers, etc, what bad sides did you want him to talk about? A cake decorator spatula from your local grocery store is thin, long and has rounded corners. An Xacto knife with chisel blade is good if you keep the bevel down and the angle low to avoid gouging the bed.

I am keeping whatching the entire serie, there's lot of stuff to learn, hope that I remember! Anyway, it is possible to put the printer in a kinf of big box of - plexiglas ? - to prevent emitted particles flying away and creating a big mess? If yes, what kind of material do you suggest? I think it is needed one capable of resist to high temperatures but with some microporosity to assure the air could slightly go through and cool the printer inside. Until also O2 could pass through and maybe we will have a dangerous completed triangle of fire, I guess, lol.

Nice, clear and useful video. I have just a comment about "improved overhang at 30° instead of 45° thanks to software improvements "... It should also and maybe more depend on the choice of layer height (especially variable ones) and nozzle size, don't you think ?
@Mrpurple754 жыл бұрын
I find a 4:1 ratio between nozzle diameter and layer height will give the best overhangs, but results do vary

You know, you might want to consider taking this complete set of tutorial videos, and put them on a C.D., etc. for 'resale'. Always nice to have a 'hard copy' to use, instead of having to search the internet. 'Older' followers, who are less computer literate, might really appreciate it! If promoted properly, I'm guessing there might be a secondary market other than just on 'KZbin'. Just sayin'.

Thank you ! If you dont have the spare room for your printer, do you think an enclosure can be enough to prevent the particle emission with a prusa mk3s if you only print with PLA ? Maybe PETG and flex ?
@brokenshoe17752 жыл бұрын
regular dry wall isnt fire proof or resistant you need a speciality kind of board which has a pink outer layer of paper and fibers in the board which are flame retardant can give up to 20 minutes of fire protection.
@jayedwin980202 жыл бұрын
Just curious. Do you think a large, "old", back-lit, T.V. screen cabinet (that has been gutted) might make a decent enclosure for a 3D print? I was getting ready to junk this old T.V. when I thought of possibly 'repurposing' it's solid cabinet.

About fire-safety: your smoke detector looks as if its closer than 50cm from walls/corners. Warm air rising from a fire will build op close to walls and especially in corners, pushing the smoke away. This prevent the smoke from hitting and activating the smokedetector. This might cause problems and is in the Netherlands and also Germany not allowed. Though you should know.

When you use OSB to build a box and your printer burns inside, the fire will run out of oxygen and die out way before the box starts to burn. It's actually safer than a non-boxed printer.

1:37 "it is always better to emboss it instead of raising it..." But, embossing = raising. Embossing and debossing are the processes of creating either raised or recessed relief images and designs in paper and other materials. He must have meant: "always better to DEBOSS letters, instead of raising them"

How do you determine how much filament you need for a print? I'm trying to get an idea how much filament I might consume for budget purposes (hobby, not commercial mfg).
@inNoutSucks2 жыл бұрын
I feel like most medium size spools would be enough for most projects (depending on printer size, settings, etc.) , and as a plus, you'll have leftover for re-do's and other projects. I would suggest trying out well recommended filaments to avoid a cheap, crappy filament, and just buying bigger spools that fit for you because you can never go wrong with having more than you need. By buying more, you'll save money on bulk discounts and never deal with running out mid print. If you want to try a different brand (possibly cheaper) filament, buy a small spool to test it out first.

I just started with a Prusa MK3 S I been having issues with the filiment getting stuck in the roll as it's pulling and I get this offset line in my print... Someone suggested I make sure the roll is rolled tight tried it but still after a while it gets loose and start getting stuck along the inside of the spool and the printer obviously just yanks it free causing a defect in the print. I seen Thing Universe people made these filiment guides but I don't see you using them or do you? I am going to print a few out see if it helps...
