My wife bought me a 3d printer for Christmas. Your video is the first one to make sense to me. Now I think I can actually use it. Or at least start to figure it out. Thank you

Maurice… you have absolutely no idea how great that makes me feel. Not only am I new to 3D Printing, I’m also new to making a video like this one. I wasn’t sure how well this would be received by my regular viewers that are used to seeing me build cool projects out of concrete and I certainly wasn’t sure how this would be received by the 3D Printing community. Your comment validated my decision to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new. Now I can continue forward with my plans to try and diversify my channel to keep it fresh and relevant. Thank you SO MUCH Maurice and thank your wife for me for buying you a 3D Printer haha. Please email me if you run into any problems or have any questions.

FIRST THING that comes to mind... creating a customized pet memorial grave stone with reverse printed graphics, then building a form for concrete. Put in graphics in bottom of form, pour concrete, let it cure, then pop it out. Place it over your pet's grave🥰

2 suggestions: 1) Run the printer on a good UPS so you get clean power to the controller and also if there are any blips in the power, it won't interrupt your print job. 2) When making molds, add a few degrees of draft so demold is easier.

Reverse print the mold, and then place it in a silicone mold, then use the silicpne mold for your logo.

I’m wondering how strong the printed parts are. I’m thinking of making custom angled connectors for aluminum tubes.
@GregKrynen
@GregKrynen Жыл бұрын
This depends on a lot of things. Type of plastic, indoor or outdoor use, coatings, angle of printing, wall thickness, infill density (more is not always better), layer density, temps used to print, and probably more. I have been 3D printing for nearly 9 years now on a few different FDM machines and still am learning based on application of the design.

If your printer supports TPU, what about using TPU rather than PLA for the molds?
@GregKrynen
@GregKrynen Жыл бұрын
TPU is the way to go. I have done this method for concrete molds. With hard plastics it needs a slight slope on all 'right angles' and it helps to use mold release/powder.

So many people print so much junky dust collecting items, what a waste of resources, plastics, electricity, time and money! If you have one of these then use it to actually make items that are useful, dont waste resources on things that will get thrown out, lost, stuffed in a draw or sit on a shelf catching dust.
