Thank you for your tutorial - I am very interested to give this a try... I recently had Brain Surgery and am wondering if this process will also work with my brain scans. I am hopeful. It would be quite wild to have a 3D printed version of my perfectly imperfect grey matter sitting somewhere inconspicuous on a shelf...

If you have splits in mesh, check that you haven't double points in vertrice. Double points often occur whenever I use mirror modifier. They cause problems. To lessen this problem, I just select the entire mesh, press hotkey W and click "Remove Double Points." During modelling, I always remove double points a number of times ever before sculpting; before exporting models to other softwares; before rendering models and especially before 3D printing.

Removing double is helpful, but be careful as it can introduce non manifold errors into your mesh. Be sure to check your mesh for non manifold errors after removing doubles. Use Shift-Ctrl-Alt-M while in Edit mode.

I have been doing this for a while for glenoid models. I however get a webbing between clavicle, glenoid, and acromion. Do you have a solution for this problem? I can send you identifier removed STLs. Thank you

Hi, Thanks Dr. Mike. Your tutorial is very helpful! One thing , the "shrinkwrap loop.txt" txt file in tutorial file pack files seems doesn't work well in the Blender latest version. The line " bpy.context.object.modifiers["Shrinkwrap"].use_keep_above_surface = True" shown error. Is there new version of the script available for download? Thanks again! : )

Thanks for the tutorial! My question is are you not worried that doing the shrink wrap procedure will taint the integrity of the scan model?

I see you have a couple blue balls there Dr. Mike. Not good man, not good. It's cool to see doctors using 3d printing and software to move the field forword.
