This is what I've been looking for. Just bought a Onefinity and this is my goal to do the 3D stuff. It looks much more real to me now.

Awesome video. I sat down with my notebook and pen, took notes from start to finish, I believe I am ready to start carving my first relief. Thank you James!

Great video as always James and I found it really helpful. I was having issues with an STL of a Sushi tray were Carveco was machining the sides with the carve but I couldn't continue with it due to not having a bit long enough. Thanks to you and this video I was able to create a boundary carve the top then profile cut the boundary vector and job done. Thanks again for the help. 🙂

Wow James that is a lot of stuff to remember. Yes I would like to be able to do carves like this but I think I better master my new machine ( sainsmart 4040) first. Just ordered it yesterday and going to build a table for it before it arrives.

This is awesome! Exactly what I was looking for. A question on the rough vs detail bite. Is it possible to add a middle detail bit also as a close to detail with the detail being the finishing run?

Really looking forward to sitting down and watching this one... Quick question - is this the continuation of the Terrain Files for CNC video?

awesome! I just bought Carveco Maker tonight and I'm looking forward to doing my first relief tomorrow.... but it would be good if you told us how to save/export ready for UGS at the end of the video.
@JamesDeanDesigns8 ай бұрын
Hi, glad you liked it. As mentioned at the start of every video, this is part of a series so usually any missing information is covered previously. If you check out part 2 of the begginers episodes, it's covered in that towards the end of the video 👍

@@JamesDeanDesigns I appreciate it mate. I am following your videos almost exclusively to learn this stuff. I feel like you're more relevant to what I a m doing. You explain things a lot better.

James, appreciate the video, I am new to Carveco so some of the simple functions I am fighting with. You are able to rotate your file with your mouse, then increase profile. How are your doing that? I left click and hold nothing, right click and hold nothing.
@JamesDeanDesigns9 ай бұрын
Those are default functions so that's pretty odd you can't do those. Might be worth logging a support ticket to see if there is an issue or something has been disabled by accident

Great video! I do have a question, can this software convert grayscale images to height maps to be used with a fiber laser for 3-D engraving?
@JamesDeanDesigns10 ай бұрын
Thank you. Carveco Maker doesn't but I believe you can in Carveco Maker+. But you can also use other software like Blender to achieve this as well I think

If it's not too much trouble, how long would each toolpath take at the end of the video? I'm wondering how much time is a lot of time - more than a day? Thanks! Sinking the relief a bit to account for uneven stock was one of the best tips!
@JamesDeanDesigns11 ай бұрын
I think this piece took me around 6 hours so certainly not all day but obviously the larger you go, or the more detail you try and extract then the longer they take
@jeffscaramozzino70679 ай бұрын
James, I have been studying your settings for a 3d relief I am working on. My material thickness is 19.58mm so I set my safe Z at 22mm. On your dragon you are using a 25MM material thickness, but you set your safe Z at 5mm and your home Z at 10. When I try to calculate I get a error message stating it must be greater than the material thickness. When I calculate my toolpaths something is causing multiple simulation passes of solid red not reaching the material. Any help would be appreciated

Does anyone know the original source of that dragon STL? I want to use it on products that I sell, but the only places I can find it are here and places that look like they resell other people's files rather than making their own.

New to Carveco. Had problems using the offset border of 3mm. Carveco said no vectors were selected when creating toolpaths??? So are those border steps needed prior to doing the offset? A little confusing. Not you, but Carveco. Thanks in advance.
