This is actually really cool. Is it possible to 3d scan an existing mini and scale it up? And do multiple colors on the same model?
@agepbiz
@agepbiz 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! This scanner is not well suited for small models, the smallest recommended size is 20cm, and you will loose a lot of details by scaling it up. The scanner do actually take photo textures while scanning, but it is a bit hit and miss, it does some kind of auto exposure, which means parts of the scan gets very dark while other parts get very light. Resin printers do not support multicolor as far as I know since the model is printed in a bath of liquid resin.

Is this the second gen sense 3d Scanner? someone at Matthackers channel said they didn't think full body scans turned out very good because there was a polygon limit in the sense 3d scanner, so busts were better defined while full bodies turned out without enough detail to warrant a 3d print. But yours turned out wonderfully. I'm asking to find out if it's worth it to do full body scans of myself and friends in action poses to then make 28mm (1:48) minis for tabletop gaming. Thanks for the input :)
@agepbiz
@agepbiz 5 жыл бұрын
Busts do get more details than full body scans, but at 1:48 they are more than enough detailed. Keep in mind that doing action poses might be a bit challenging since you need to stand still for a minute or so while scanning and it gets very hard to maintain the pose. Here is a few prints of full body scans I did of a friend of mine at 1:48 for his model railroad: instagram.com/agepbiz/p/BnzTrRjH_F8/

@@agepbiz Oh, I was also curious, in your video it looks like you really didn't have to do much work on the 3d rendered model. Is that true or did you edit out a bunch of work? I've seen some AWFUL renderings that would take hours to work over and smooth out, but I think it was from bad point clouds from phone app photogemmetry or something. In your video it looked almost as simple as 'drag-and-drop' because all you altered was the scanned floor and the depth of his feet. Is this true or was there a lot more work? If it takes more than a few moments per figure it wouldn't be feasible to me...
@agepbiz
@agepbiz 5 жыл бұрын
@@HotelCharliHill What you see me do in the video is pretty much all I had to do to the scanned mesh; removed scanned floor, capped feet, rotated model and perhaps patched a few holes. 15 min of work or so. Much of this can be done in the scanner software directly but I prefer doing it afterwards in case I do multiple scans

Hello great work man but why curing with uv? and can it be printed with real colours? thank you
@agepbiz
@agepbiz 5 жыл бұрын
These printers use UV light to 3d print the models, but when they are done printed they need to be post-cured with UV light, or else they will stay a bit soft and sticky, and you don't want that. Post curing can also be done just by leaving the prints out in direct sunlight. Resin comes in many different colors and I even have a CMYK pigment set to make my own shade of resin, but these printers cant print in multiple colors if that is what you are asking

You can 3d print the figurine as large as your printers buildvolume is. This printer printer do have a rather small buildvolume, but do amazing details. Most resin printers will print like this or better, and you can get one similar to this for just a few hundred dollars. I do not recommend FDM printers (filament) for miniatures like this. Most sub 1000USD resin printers use a LCD screen for masking and a UV cannon for curing. If you have a big budget and want better details you can look into Formlabs Form 3 which uses a laser instead of a screen,, but the machine costs 3-4000USD. If you are on a budget I suggest looking into this printer or the Elegoo Mars. Keep in mind that resin printing is a bit smelly and messy and do require you to use nitril gloves since you want to avoid direct skin contact with the resin

@agepbiz Is there a way to make a HO scale figure of someone from a magazine? Like if I wanted to make a HO scale President Biden for example.

Stian. Det er viktig at du lager verkene dine samme scale. Hvorfor? Fordi da passer de sammen. og når du har får jobb hos Lego, vil man kunne bygge gigantiske lego-figurer av brikkene dine.

Is there a way to 3D scam LEGO minifigure parts with it?
@agepbiz
@agepbiz 3 жыл бұрын
Not really. This scanner does not scan small objects very well. Most consumer scanner does not. Tiny objects would require a jewelry scanner and they cost thousands of dollars, and even with that the scanned mesh would require some post processing and cleanup

@@agepbiz Oh 0K, thanks 4 the tips. The reason I asked is because I was gonna scan 3D scan LEGO brickforge accessories/armor for a 3D brickfilm.

If I did it would be just for fun, because I cant sell something that is someone elses Intellectual Property. Also getting the gear and cloths and then scanning would be way to expencive and to much work

Go to a museum and scan one of those dinosaurs

Unfortunately the object size limit on my scanner is just 2x2m. Also no dinosaur museums nearby 😫

agepbiz oh, maybe try a dinosaur figurine and modify it using scientific accuracy when it’s on your program
@agepbiz
@agepbiz 4 жыл бұрын
Haha, and the other problem is that the lower limit is 20x20cm... not suitable for small detailed objects. Basically, it is optimal for scanning human sized objects and then scaling them down to miniatures

@@stegotyranno4206 If i had access to a 1-2m big dinosaur model it could be scanned and turned into a small miniature
