Quick tip instead of duplicating the clip to fill the black space after the mask just click ctrl shift n and it will automatically fill in the space with another mask. Which then you can change the opacity using key frames on the 2 mask.

The number of ways you can recreate this effect amazes me. Personally, I find it much easier to apply a transform effect to an adjustment layer. Then, I duplicate the first clip, as you did, with the second clip underneath. However, the difference lies in what I use: position, scale, and rotation individually instead of the 3D camera. I apply these keyframes to each clip, even the duplicated ones. I also utilize the mask tool for one clip, as you did, to achieve a clean edge look. It's essentially the same process, but without using the null and the 3D camera. Instead, I rely on an adjustment layer and a transform effect

Tylo- when speed ramp the original clip. I duplicate ,precompose and use roto brush on the duplicated clip. But the duplicate clip gets lil off time than original speed ramped clip. Why so? Any suggestions
