@SteveBenway The Ocean stuff was real "hit and run" work. They paid us £2000 per title, and everything other than the audio took 1-2 days. I had to get in deep to do the audio because I needed to find where it kicked off all the effects. The Enterprise guys paid us more for Starstrike, or at least they would if David Levy (chess player) and chums hadn' t gone out of business and never paid us a penny. Oh well, I'm not bitter. Much. :-) Shame the "flan" didn't take off.

Wow, I nearly bought one of these at Makro many many decades ago.

@SteveBenway We cheated. We set the Enterprise screen to a mode that was *very* close to that of the Spectrum. So, lines all interleaved, and one attribute byte per 64 pixels, but the attribute bit layout was slightly different. We then just bodged to input and audio the job was done. We ported Starstrike (our own game) and then used the same approach to port Bruce Lea, Raid over Moscow, and Beachhead. The latter three were done with no source access - I just hacked the binary.

That's unfortunate, though impressive in its own way I suppose. I remember my reaction to Ocean PC games typically being, "Well that's kind of cool, if only...."

I'm glad you found some software for that particular machine. I know you were bumming about not having any when you got it. You must have had to really dig through the internet to find that file.

It's not a ripoff of Starwars. Just because Dearth Vidor's Tempest Warriors attack in their TIM Fighters (Two Ion Motors) doesn't mean it's a ripoff.
