Ah that is why it slowly returns to zero, nicely done. I have been using your IMU code for my quad quiet some time now. But now in the need of some XYZ 3D location.

The IMU data consists of tri-axis gyro and acceleration data, right? Or does it also include magnetometer information? Great work Seb! And thanks for sharing!

Is this only with the IMU or also with video tracking ? If not how do you compsate the 3D position drift ?

why does it "pull it to the origin of its position ? and does it "pull" constantly with the same accelleration or the same speed ?

I trie to run the matlab code "script.m" but I get an error : "Undefined function or variable 'avifile'" This is not a function in Matlab nor I could find it searching for it. Where can I find this function avifile?

Wow, 9 years later this is still about the only video I can find about a IMU visualization that really shows where the object went. Amazing that there is almost no development since that time. Would it be possible to track and visualize the movement of a whiteboard eraser that cleaned a whiteboard? Or would the metal make the magnetometer mess up the values even with Kalman filter?

yeah buddy. in 2023 i try to make a VR joystick based on pure Inertia navigation. and Professor Madgwick's work and aother project called RoNIN are only 2 projects I can find to learn. Due to SLAM tech's prosperous, looks few people dig into this area.

I was curious, how close are we to getting cheap, fast, accurate IMU's? I need an IMU, but it needs to be around 30/40$.... and it's gotta be fast, for a VR project... I was looking at the Memsic 2125, but after watching a few videos, felt kinda disappointed with the response time.... I need it to be fast,......as for the drift.... I guess I dont care too much about it, I have an idea on what to do with it anyways... but.... would you happen to know of any? kinda on a budget =X...

This is probably caused by the gravity factor. You'll need to filter it out. I've been working on a accurate system for months now, but I only have some idea of how it could work

@@hiwiscifi997 I'm very very curious how he did it cuz that was exceptional. Here's my approach. I used EKF to determine sensor orientation and used that to remove gravity from acceleration data. Then highpass filter out bias or assume the final sensor frame acc is 0 so I can remove bias linearly. After that integrate acc and use some info to correct drift. I only tried ZUPT algorithm. Finally integrate velocity to get displacement. And this worked to some extent, for example, in less intense movement where the sensor doesn't rotate much.
