I really like ideaMaker.... use it with my Raise3D E2. The ability to "cut" a STL is a great feature.

Another neat feature is the ability to "compare" slicing profiles... not sure if Cura or others can do this?

I am not sure either. I know PrusaSlicer can do that, I will have to check out the implementation of it in ideaMaker!

they do have premade profiles.. you have to go to their website and select them download one .. Been using Ideamaker for YRS! replaced S3D with it. IDM is way more powerful that S3D, I can drag and drop models in. no clue why you cant?
@3DMusketeers3 жыл бұрын
Correct, however they are not available inside the slicer like literally every other program, that has this feature at least, does it. So the average user may not know this and it is not clear in the software itself. Their website, the ideamaker.io was not great to navigate either, I am told there were prusa mk3s profiles, but none came up when I searched. All I found was a bear upgrade and one for the specific FormFutura which is not a brand of material we use. If ideaMaker had profiles users could easily find, without having to look through a website like this, I think it would have been a better video.. We will talk about it further in a deep dive, which is planned for every slicer. Having stock profiles for multiple machines available, from the maker of the software, is not difficult and even sometimes provided by manufacturers. Integrating this has become commonplace, so for users to have to use a separate website to find profiles seems a bit convoluted. I do like that you can search for textures though. I guess I would be looking for something more user friendly, and when I take first looks, if it is not something I can ascertain then I cannot expect the average user to do it either. What is clear is that Raise3D does not seem to care about other manufacturers, so the idea of them implementing stock profiles may not happen. I am excited for this software though, as I get used to it, I feel like it will become more friendly over time. Are there any features you think we should highlight? Texture FOR SURE is in there, but we are always open to hearing the opinions of others! -Grant

@@3DMusketeers one of the biggest features I love is the multi Shell count/locking with the infill for strength. I don't do much "shelf sitting dust collectors" but more functional prints and the extra strength by locking the infill and shells is awesome.. type in 3.5 in the shell could and every other layer the shell will extend out into the infill- Multi Processing is WAY more powerful than S3D.
@3DMusketeers3 жыл бұрын
So far, ANYONE's multi process has been better than S3D lol. Their implementation is terrible IMO. Especially for a PAID software. Gah.. I believe in most other slicers this is called infill overlap, at least that is my thought based on your description! :)
@Thomllama3 жыл бұрын
@@3DMusketeers Infill over lap and alternating shell count are different. Overlap is just a percentage of the extrusion width that is overlapped. Alternating infill is a whole shell extrusion width/line staggered in every other layer, or what ever you set for layer count. If you type in say 3.5 in the shells, you'll get 4 shells every other layer.

@@3DMusketeers The webpages interact directly with the program, profiles, printers, textures are all clicks away from being installed. When I first started out Cura had many more guides to watch, but Ideamaker just made sense. I use both to this day. Really unfair for you to do a vid that comes off as a review when you literally tell us you have never used it. As far as I know, you can't pull a Cura Profile into Prusa or visa-versa.

if you go into library there are lots of templates available for all types of printers .if you care to look closely at the welcome screen on this video and not just rush through it you would see there was a photo of your prusamk3s staring right out at you . click that and you will find a ready made template for your printer Right now this is my main goto slicer ,and ive used quite a few which include s3d , cura , craftware , slic3r , prusaslicer , mattercontrol and now Ideamaker . but imopv Ideamaker produces more amazing results and is loads better than the rest ive just mentioned ;) for me anyway i own two Anycubic i3 mega's and in the library there were ready made templates for that printer , you were rushing through so fast you missed the layer by layer parameter,function,the built in pause at height function , you whizzed through the modifiers section missing out all the parameters you can add to the modifiers 🤔

I did see the mk3s, but it was not clear how to add it, there was a TON of this video that did not make it to YT. The idea of this video was to do a first look, from the perspective of someone who has not used it and evaluate UI and UX. I know ideamaker is good, I have just not enjoyed its UI and because of that it was frustrating to me. Also, I am not sure what has been updated since June of 2021 when we filmed that video LOL.

Just watching the video again... I never use rafts on most of my printers.... but, with my E2 and Raise3D filament, rafts are good.
@3DMusketeers3 жыл бұрын
Does their filament have a tendency to warp? How does it come off the raft? Rafts are old school. Back when we printed ABS before heated beds were a thing lol.
@randydeserranno55753 жыл бұрын
@@3DMusketeers printed a wind turbine with thin blades... used raft, no warping and raft comes off beautifully. (using Raise3D PLA) When the need to use a raft is required or recommended, it works great.
@3DMusketeers3 жыл бұрын
Good to know. For PLA it is DEFINITELY not needed. If you need more bed adhesion, use a brim. It was originally designed for ABS so the raft would warp and your part would be fine. Crazy good idea before we had the tech of heated beds and chambers!

Pity there's not much here about setting up a profile, which is what some of us want to learn about.

Setting up profiles will vary for each printer, that's the issue. Especially if your printer has auto bed leveling or something like that.

Kinda whiny complaints about lack of default support for 'other' printers. The software is FREE. I think the time to configure a Prusa whatever printer is not much longer than the time I spent listening to you complain about this lack in this single video. Just sayin'... And as previously noted by another commenter, there are Prusa Mark 3s profiles in the IdeaMaker library directory. Still I am interested in you comments about useful differences from other slicers as I'm not that familiar with any of them...
@3DMusketeers2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is free, but basically every other slicer has tuned profiles. Yes, it was in the library, however it was not immediately clear and for a first time user that was an issue. We have done videos on most of the slicers, let me know if there is one you want covered that we did not look at yet!
