Yeah by definition origami is made from one piece of paper with no cuts or added sheets. And it's not even Kirigami which is similar to origami except you are allowed to make cuts, but still using a single sheet.

Actually, no, because 3d origami is totally different from normal origami, so this would be classified as beginner level

Modular origami like this is actually surprisingly easy! I've been doing geometric modular origami for years and even some seemingly simple shapes can be much harder to assemble than this. It definitely would take a long time to form all of the individual units, but the assembly is very simple here since each piece really can only connect to each other piece in two ways- you can put both points into both pockets of a second piece, or one piece into one pocket of a second piece. Compared to a sonobe unit it's much simpler, even though the sonobe also has just two points, but many more ways you can connect them.

There used to be a merchant/shop that sell the kit that include stacks of rectangle shaped mini colored paper, picture of finished product, instruction leaflet and any addon that are required. We need to fold each mini paper into the triangle unit/block manually first before assembling them. It is like paper lego. I still keep several kits. 😁
