Great Stuff Dan- hope you are well! I finally got around to getting my bird back in the air yesterday and decided it has been too long and I want to start flying again, but all I have are the stock batteries (all seem fine, I know I know they are, until they are not)- I am going to give this mod a try- Again THANK YOU! but one step I am not 100% on- Is battery calibration necessary after the build? Are there steps on how to do that?

Hi Dan, thanks for sharing this, you've saved us all a lot of time. My Solo batteries gave up a few months ago and I finally got around to doing a battery mod and made a test flight today. Where I live there was nowhere with the recommended Tattu batteries in stock, so I tried an equivalent spec Zeee 5200mAh 4s 50C with Deans connector. However the flight time (from 96% to 20%) was way shorter than expected at about 7m15s. Has anyone else had this issue with other battery makes, and do you guys still use the Solo charger or a generic one?

You need to calibrate the battery management system to the new battery

@@IFixShet Does this mean that a battery mod can't be hot swapped between different batteries?

If you want accurate voltage and percentage all the time you cannot hot swap. If you're hot swapping then you're flying by voltage only and you need to activate the live time voltage on your screen by tapping the battery meter so you can see yours overall standing voltage during your flight you need to land before you reach 14 volts

Also by hot swapping you will constantly get low battery warning signs even if the battery still has tons a flight time left on it because the percentage will not add up to the voltage so when the BMS thinks it reaches zero it will kick return to home which you can bypass by pushing the fly button but anytime you're hot swapping you will need to fly by Live Time voltage not by percentage

if so.e of you are thinking the flux is not necessary, it is very necessary, when the flux gets hot it becomes an acid that cleans any oxidation or grime away from the connection allowing a very solid electrical connection

​@IFixShet ok thx. I tried running my voltage down with motor test and back up om the charger. It seemed to work then I put a cell balancer on my battery then when I put it back on my BMS adapter it started flashing just one light. And it doesn't work anymore. Even off of the drone, won't show me voltage lights anymore it just shows me the flashing one light. Wondering if my balance lead plug is messed up or what.

Unfortunately even though they are new they are still 7 years old do not fly those old packs it's like playing Russian roulette with your solo they will fail during flight and you will lose your drone
