Really enjoyed the video. I am not sure why though but I could never get the orange light to blink. Can you tell me what might be causing that to happen? I appreciate any help you can give. Red lights are on in the back and blue in the front but it doesn't do anything else

Hey man i did everything you did, it does the fast orange light, the tone, I stop pressing the pair button, the green lights turn off one by one, then flash(green,Red,White really quick) then stay green. After they turn red on 2 and white on 2 they dont change at all. how do i make it do the party colors? I did the controller fine.

Clayton, I have three Solos and noticed the light sequences were all different from what Luke showed; it must be a version thing. However when I followed what he showed in video and disregarded what the lights and sounds were they all reset and paired.

Ian Smith you may have to send it in to Geek Squad to fix, or you might be able to fix it yourself a different way. Open the drone, pull out the motherboard, and cut out the SD card. Take it out then put it right back in. This will fix it 50% of the time if the factory reset won’t fix it.

If you forget your changed password from sololink, is there any method short of a factory reset to see the changed password you forgot? I know you will probably see the astrisks, but at least you can count them and guess the password knowing its length.

July 2020 purchase and download SidePilot for iOS to update 3DR. Follow prompts to set up 3DR. Go to upper left and select menu. Scroll down to other then 3DR SET UP. Scroll to bottom and select 3DR Firmware update. Select both Open Solo 4.0.0 (controller) and Open Solo 4.0.0 (Copter) then connect to solo WiFi and install both. Setup takes a while and I would def recommend factory reset before the install.

So I did I factory reset and when I go into the app to download the update it asked me to switch to my home wifi for download. When it is complete it asked me to switch back to solo wifi but than the dowload disappears and asked me to re download but again asked to switch to my home wifi any help would be appreciated

I had tried the factory reset, but did not work, after following the video about taking apart the controller, removing the wifi board, removing the microSD card, then putting back together, still did not work. Then I re-did this factory reset, and now working. So it would appear that the card was not reading, and so the previous custom password would not reset, without the card connecting properly. I was trying to restore factory default password after losing all of the passwords in my phone due to a reset called for (wrongly) by my telecom provider. I'm a bit disappointed in the overall system reliability, due to the fact that this is necessary for so many users, but happy to get it working. well, that's what worked for me. had to buy a new iPad as well, as the older 1st generation one I had was not compatible with the app. my iPhone 5 was not either. I had not used either with the solo before, but had borrowed a friend's newer iPhone. for a permanent solution I Bought a new iPad A1822 model, and it is compatible. The app even helps you resolve anomalies, of which there were a couple, for instance, the controller did not want to connect to the solo after pairing, and after connecting the wifi of the controller to the iPad, but the app showed the problem, paused the process for me, and even recommended a solution, in this case it was to power off the solo smart battery, and then power it on again. It actually worked, and the app resumed automatically. The app also asked me for my GoPro model and grade, explaining it was for controlling the GoPro settings remotely. In my case a hero4black. As soon as I told it the type, it displayed a partial screen of the controls, and let me set them before I closed it, and it went to live view in full screen. I'm impressed with the app. not so much the controller build quality.. it's a slick controller, but having the issue with the microSD card seems like a stumbling block for most users who would not be able to fix it themselves. only had about 4 flights on it, and no crashes. always treated with care. Taking apart the controller was not a big deal for me, but requires delicate hands, and nimble fingers, and not for everyone. make sure to remove all 5 screws. I tried to buy an iPad mini, but could not find one available in my area, so bought the previous mentioned iPad. It will not fit in the holder, but that s the least of my worries, as I've build several custom ground stations for FPV, and I'm sure I can find a solution. The app did not Prompt me to do a compass calibration, or level calibration. I'm supposing those were part of the pixhawk settings, which I'm guessing do not get changes when you do the controller factory reset. correct me if I'm wrong, but it claims it's passed it's checks and ready to fly. looking forward to a flight tomorrow. thought I'd share my experience for others having the same problems. It would seem that the SD card issue can cause multiple faults all related to connectivity with the controller telemetry, and the video feed. also the app connectivity.

update: I've been using the solo to film for the last few days, and had multiple problems with connectivity of the controller to the solo. kept losing contact in the air, always very close (200-300 feet away from me) and one time lost connectivity when about 200 feet away, and could not re-aquire. Solo auto-landed just fine, but something is wrong. tried to turn everything off then on again several times, and no connectivity. had to remove the battery rom the controller to get it to work again. very frustrating. ... also it takes about 4 times turning everything on and off, then on again to get the app to record live view on average. The GoPro even froze once, and I had to remove the battery to get it to shut off. never had. GoPro do this, so I'm guessing it might have to do with the gimbal, and be due to the interface in the hdmi cable. It would seem that most of the problems I am having is to do with the wifi solo link system, but I'm not 100 percent positive. talking to tech support has not been helpful. they give generic answers, and do not even read my emails, and it's obvious because they ask me questions that I answered specifically in my email. wondering whether to buy new parts to try to fix, or just scrap the thing. so many issues.. it also seems that the "upgrade" of the m r o gps u-blox Neo m8n gps unit is not necessarily an upgrade. It shows more sats, but does not get a solid lock on the sats, so is not any better overall form the original 7 series gps module.

There's only one thing you can do to fix the SOLID ORANGE LIGHT problem, without replacing a part. There's a micro sd card inside drone body, attached to the mother board. Cut the glue, take out the SD card, and reinsert the card, then put back together your drone. This works 50% of the time. Thanks

Consider "reflashing" the micro card also. It takes some searching but you can find the data on some websites.

every time I try to update my solo it dose two things, 1 it shows the green symbol for the controller, but no drone, but solo made the beep that means it is connected to the controller. 2 I try to update it and it keeps reinstalling the update to the app every time I switch on to solo's WiFi to finish the download. Dose any one know how to fix this?

You may need to factory reset your drone and controller. This usually works out any kinks. Also, you only need to update drone and remote once, unless you have factory reset it. Hope this helps.

After reset solo orange light speedy blinking, solo play 3 tones, but after 10 minutes led is still blue (front) and red (back). Orange light (inside) blinking 2x in second :-(

May be a bad controller. If you hold down A+B at same time, and controller never says "updating", even after 30 seconds, then probably a bad controller. I sell them on my ebay store if you need one. Http://stores.ebay.com/xxtremelion
