3Ds Max or Sketchup which is Better

If you are interested in 3d software, there are actually a lot of good ones to choose from if you Want to learn 3d or if you Want to work on your projects. two of those good options are 3ds Max and SketchUp, especially when working on architecture projects.

Thanks for doing this. I find that flash-by mention of various functions cannot make for recognition, nor make it located on the screen or in pulldowns, and so the new info cannot settle in enough to recall, repeat to oneself, or write a memory note--but how to enhance that? Probably go step by step, 1-2-3, taking 2 secs.each step, with cursor held steady on each function mentioned. AND review/summarize at end of the video. (You remember that oldsaying, "Tell em what you're going to tell em; tell em; then tell em what you told em." That will allow you to enlarge and enhance or correct the parts. (Painful for an expert? But what alternative if you hope for widest effect?)

Well, 3Ds Max offers almost all possibilities, except 2D graphics it can do everything, but you need to pay a huge time cost and learning cost. If the client's requirements are not so detailed and realistic, the one who uses 3ds max may be the one who turns in the last draft, and the same will happen when the solution is frequently modified, so just the appropriate one is the right one

I'm learning 3ds max but i think this program will be obsolete in ten years, in polygonal modeling we have Blender, Rhino and Cinema 4D, for animations we have Blender and Maya, for architecture Revit is the King nowadays and so many architects are migrating to blender because is free, and V-ray for Revit and SketchUp is making great advances in terms of complexity and realism. 3DS Max needs to evolve in something different, at this moment seems more like a programing tool than a modeling tool, with a more kindly interface, more bottoms and less text, lower prices and they need to delete obsolete tools like render to texture.

You are completely right, Sketchup is becoming so powerful at designing complex shape since it has big community who builds sketchup plugins. Revit, Sketchup, Blender or Maya is more than enough.

I have been using Revit and 3Ds max for rendering, that combination is good. The company pays for the autodesk subscription so the burden is not on my pocket. I would say for detail modeling 3ds max is still one of the best. You apply modifiers that you can switch on and off, compatibility with a lot of files. For creativity modeling sketchup seems to be faster.

Noob 3dsmax users always say SketchUp is just for beginners coz they are so surprised and angry that in the hands of a pro SketchUp User, any 3d modelling can be achieved and is possible to make in SketchUp which they call a primitive program. @@Kankhz man there are professionals who use SketchUp who can get work done 20-50% faster than people who use 3ds max. Don't underestimate SketchUp users. Sketchup have plugins that faster your workflow better and these powerfull plugin 3ds max don't have. In my case i use many 3d software.

I think sketchup is an amazing program, but also can´t handle a big complex projects ( not so big) . Can´t be so detailed, when u want to, u will spend a lot of time just waiting to get the process done. I am thinking about switching to 3d max just for that... :/

Sketchup is better and easier with tools and simpler, and the interface of the program is more beautiful and does not require high specifications to run the program. There is also a complete library of free models in 3d wourhouse, all of which are free. You can also export to any program and any format. Sketchup gives the same result as 3d max in everything, but does not support animation

Vray results in sketchup is similar to vray 3dsmax , by chaos group .

Sketchup is about quick modeling and drafting and 3ds Max is all about modeling the workflow is slower than SketchUp but it produces better results overall. SO it is between time and quality that you are looking at now. SketchUp acceptable quality and quite fast, 3Ds Max better than SketchUp in every aspect except it model slower and more difficult to learn.
