I like the touch, that a Magala never really 'sees' the world around it. Gore lacks eyes altogether and after one morphes into a Shagaru, it permanently shrouds everything around it in darkness until it dies. Even with eyes, a Magala stays blind of what is beyond its reach.

What made gore magala stand out to a lot of people was how much of looming threat he was throughout the game, he had and ever looming presence which was represented by the frenzy virus.

That's kinda normal, Shagaru is basically an enraged Gore, you most likely had a lot of experience with it before facing the Heaven's Wheel. The best thing of MH4's final boss is the atmosphere and story. You finally got the chance of facing the Magala for the last time, you respect and you know it respects you (hell it even wides the wings and almost smiles at you in the cutscene), but you both know only one of you is going to leave Heaven's Mount alive. It's majestic.

Shagaru Magala is considered to be a low tier elder. His status as a virus producer means that it has wide reaching effects, but SHagaru Magala is not a very powerful elder dragon compared to the other ones. The first part that makes it lower tier is that its own ability has the ability to empower its own opponents and victims, meaning that it can create its own worst enemy (apex monsters- basically a tier above elders in danger level due to their sheer durability). The second is that other elder dragons are immune to the effects of the frenzy virus, rendering Shagaru's elder effect unusable compared to the effects of other elder dragons (Many elders like Kushala Daora and Alatreon are capable of changing the very environment that they fight in without any physical interaction). The third and the last is that many of the other elder dragons like Fatalis are just out and out stronger than Shagaru Magala. This is comparable in game where no attack from Shagaru is capable of outright killing you while being in the mere presence of Red Fatalis can be lethal.

Shagaru isnt really that insane. He is very pretty and awesome, but hes not the most difficult monster. And he doesnt have that much physical strength, its pretty much just about the frenzy virus. That does kick ass. But he doesnt really stand a chance against most Elder Dragons. I think those are also immune to frenzy? At least I have never seen a frenzied Elder Dragon. Also yeah 1 fire beam from Fatalis and Shaggy is toast
