Hi everyone. I had the same problem like Henry and his advice actually works. I use ABAQUS 2017. Indeed, it's necessary to reduce displacement magnitude imposed as boundary condition and that resolves covergence abortion of the simulation. Btw, Thanks for the great tutorial.

Thanks For the tutorial Sir, I tried everything in the video and here are some of the things i had to adjust to get some results. The force applied was too big reduced it to 200N, also adjusted the initial increment size for both steps to 0.01, BC: press plank reduced 0.2 to 0.1 and press rectangular block 0.21 to 0.11.

for the assembly, i was thinking what if i decided to use translate instances instead of face-to-face constraints for positioning the two blocks on and under the plank. Will this be okay too?

Thanks for this nice and brief dissemination activity. Just one feedback to SIMULIA based on my experience: ABAQUS User Documentation is not user-friendly.

Thank you for a very nice tutorial. I was able to reproduce the simulation. However, when I tried the exact same thing with my own model, only make contact step is simulated, and .sta file says that job has not been completed. That is, the apply force step is not solved. Any ideas?

Very nice tutorial with a great explanation of theory that is pretty unsual here in youtube. As other people said maybe it can be necessary to riduce that intial displacement to enstablish the contact between the parts to 0.1 instead 0.2 and 0.11 instead 0.21

Hii all, I am seeing 2 unconnected regions in the warnings, what is the reason for this?

For everyone who might be getting an error saying the displacement increment is too large, try -0.1 and -0.11 instead of -0.2 and -0.21. That solved it for me
@danielmattick12834 жыл бұрын
Though I did not have an error saying displacement is too large, I did have "Error in job ContactSimulation: Too many attempts made for this increment". I made the change suggested you suggested after trying to look up the error given and your fix worked. Abaqus/CAE Student Edition 2019

Thanks for this great tutorial! I wanna know about another method of using a small magnitude of force to establish a smooth contact state between the surfaces. How can we decide that ? Is there any techniques to determine such force/displacement? Thanks once again.

For me it aborts due to too many attempts being made for the increment (increment 27 for Step 2), and all warnings are about negative eigenvalues. I have the 2020 version, though.. The tutorial was still really helpful, though!
@caraYmii3 жыл бұрын
It also presses the plank up, even though the load is applied the way you said to apply it. Looks very funny. So I may have done something very wrong either way. Or it just looks weird before it deforms like it should.
