It’s still not always consistent. I’ve actually been having a theory why so many inconsistencies occur in the show. One of the many instances they used time travel (I’ve counted 3, and I don’t wish to accidentally spoil them for these guys, even if they only see the first 3 seasons) might have caused an anomaly, which also explains the existence of Kamp Koral and the Patrick Show.

The end saved it for me. The fact that they weren't his actual parents and his parents said 'you actually recognized us this time' as a callback to the foreshadowing at the beginning of the episode was a pretty good twist.

In 'Procrastination' the scene of Spongebob looking out his window to see everyone having fun was removed from TV circulation as it looked like Patrick was unhooked Sandy's top. It always confused me as a kid as I KNEW I'd seen it but than suddenly it was gone. I questioned if I made it up but than on DVD it was there! Confused me more because as a kid I had no idea what cut scenes were. 😂

When I was a kid, I hated I'm With Stupid. It's just too mean spirited and cruel, even for SpongeBob. The way Patrick is written is exactly how he becomes in the later seasons. In fact, I forgot this episode was even in season 2 because it feels like a more recent episode.

Hot take: I'm With Stupid was an episode that I just can't seem to stand. It's one of those episodes that some people may have suggested gaslighting it; basically, when someone manipulates another person to make them question their own sanity. But it's kinda hard to summarize how hated this episode was by a lot of people, I think. The concept of Patrick's fake parents coming to visit - and him needing to impress them by having SpongeBob act stupid - felt silly, maddeningly awful, and outright frustrating to watch. And it kinda felt like a SpongeBob "torture" episode, in my opinion.
