I just got my first box of bees 5 days ago. This video is what I needed. Now I know what to inspect. I know how pollen, nectar and honey looks like. I also like the closeup photos of eggs. Thanks for sharing your video.

Very nice video!!! I have been watching KZbin videos forever and you know how to do it. I also have been viewing Beekeeping videos since this late winter. I have to wear protective gear now even if my bees are being nice , there’s always that one that comes out of nowhere stinger already out and ready to poke you lol I used to run 1500 colonies and I got stung so much I have an allergy now , so now I don’t take any chances , because when you get an allergy you get stung and it hurts 20 times more than someone without an allergy 😮

I determine how much I gear up every time. Every colony behavior is different and factors like dearth, barometric pressure, temp, etc all play a role in demeanor.

It takes 12 days for them to start making wax? That doesn’t sound right.

At age 12 days old is when the honeybee’s wax glands develop. Prior to that they cannot make wax. Therefore if your population of bees are younger than 12 days old they can’t immediately start producing wax and building comb. Most colonies have a mix of all ages but sometimes there are workforce gaps.
