Hi! I can understand being able to lay a solid color down smooth and glossy but what about spraying a metallic or pearl base where you have to lay down an orientation/control coat? It’s going to be a little rough right?

I'm just a weekend warrior guy taught only through youtube (thank you for that Brian lol) with one full car paint job under my belt, but I only used one paint gun for my project. I used the Eastwood Concours paint gun and I used it to spray sealer, high build primer, metallic/pearl base and clear coat. All with a 1.3 tip. The 1.3 tip was within the all of the ranges in the technical data sheets, and I made sure to thoroughly clean the gun between each type of media. Its probably not at all ideal in a professional scenario, but with only 2-3 projects at home that need painted, it made sense to see if one gun could do it all before spending more money on additional tools that I may never use again.

Hey Brian, cool video. I really, REALLY liked the explanation and fixation on how and where to begin/stop apllying the paint. That is some of the biggest questions for beginners answered perfectly. I also like to apply the clear similar, to avoid runners and uneven orangepeel. A lot of beginners do forgett to take care of edges, like wheelhouses or the underside of a trunk, which I focus on just before the second coat, so it can be smooth and won't have as much overspray. Little trick on the side, I've seen you had to seal the white in 2 coats, I like to get around that by adding just a few drops of yellow sealer. It shouldn't change the color and does wonders for covering darker primer and other spots. Also Sikkens/Akzonobel have a spraypaint primer you could use for smaller areas.

Nice review. Also a good trip the glasurit rep told me. When you put your sealer on (wet on wet) if you're just spot sealing, put some fade out thinner (blender) over the edges, that way you done get any overspray and is just ready for base.

I spray differently but as you stated there are a lot if different techniques. If in a downdraft I always spray from bottom to top and in a x draft I always start at the exhaust side and do this so that my paint lays into the wet paint instead of spraying over overspray. Car looked good, nice job.

Hi Brian, great videos men !! Quick question… so the sealer that you used is a 2k sealer ? And you don’t need to sand it ? Does this apply with all the 2k sealers ? Thanks 👊🏻

Hey Brian, your videos are awesome! I do have a paint question for you: my truck has panels that are down to bare metal in parts, while other parts still have base and clear. Do I need to take the whole panel down to bare metal to repaint, or is there a procedure for sanding it?
@diegoespinoza25674 жыл бұрын
I would hit the rough areas with 320 grit then go over the entire panel with 400 grit up to 600 grit, this ensures it all has a bonding surface for the paint to grab on to. (Primer any bare metal areas)
