Darwins choice, a fun crazy game about crazy animals. Apologies to any monarchists watching the video, and apologies to Sir David Attenborough most of all.

If you look for a bit more strategic play, I would recommend Evolution - Climate over Darwin's Choice. And yes, I would also recommend Dominant Species to everyone, who finds the idea of a highly abstracted evolution-themed wargame appealing.

This one feels like a great introduction to evolution for kids before jumping to the Evolution-Climate game. ANd definitely long before getting to Dominant Species.

A good fun game. It's got some pared down rules for kids as well. I've been playing it with my five and seven year old and we're starting to build up to the full scale rules after only a handful of play throughs. My five year old is making most of her own decisions but still needs some help. The production of this game is absolutely beautiful and the development team are very focused on ethical manufacturing in terms of labour and environmental standards.

SOOOOO much like Quirks from the 1980s, right down to heads, bodies and tails. In Quirks though there was always just one biome changing every 3-4 turns, but there was always one dominant and one upcoming Carnivore, Herbivore and Plant, with bonus points if you could eat the one above you and minus points if you were edible to the one below you. One thing that they should have kept from Quirks was the naming system - cards in Quirks each had short lexemes that combined together to create the animal name, so no Harp Seal/Buffalo/Porcupine, in Quirks that might have simply been a SEABUFFAPOR. This game does look more involved and complex, will definitely follow up

A game about evolution that doesn't play itself and make itself into something better? :-p

I'm surprised you didnt mention the game Evolution at the end, which looks very similar but more beautiful and streamlined than this.

Yeah, seems to be a common consensus this. Simply put, I havent played evolution and know little about it as a game.

No I don't think they will. Just like it wouldn't do anything for you if you came across a creation game. Don't worry most people really aren't that simple. Not to mention you the player are 'designing' these creatures haha!
