3rd brake light/roof spoiler removal 2019 - 2021 Silverado

How to remove roof spoiler and 3rd brake light on 2019 2020 2021 Chevrolet Silverado. Should be the same for GMC Sierra.

Great video. I'm in the process of installing a 70cm ham radio antenna and the spoiler looks like a great place without drilling a hole in the main body of the roof. I have a 21 GMC denali 1500 serria with 6.2 so it should be the same. Thanks again for taking out the guess work.

Just so everyone is aware, those 12 bolts you undo from under the headliner, those come with a PRE-LOADED rubber washer on the bottom side of the nut to help seal it from moisture/water damage. The rubber washer is opaque/white and is literally paper thin. They usually get stuck or attached to the body when you remove them, so make sure they come off and put a new rubber washer or sealant on when you re-attach the spoiler nuts

Did the same and once everything was put together ..I stuffed some Trim lock solid strip .25 diameter and nicely tucks into the crack between the cab roof top and the front spoiler..no water or dirt getting in .

I did it, followed your lead a bit scary but no prob, I didn't have the bed camera so the recon light works perfectly. I couldn't reach those yellow tabs but just gave it a little jerk and it came right out. super dirty under . Terrible design by chevy didn't brake a thing, my truck is black mudered out now. Thanks it really helped to use your info !!! followered your lead on the taillights also !

Great video, well done. I found this while I was washing my truck. I was in the bed rinsing the top and leaves and pine needles kept coming out of the crack between the roof and the spoiler, so I figured I would remove the spoiler to clean it properly. How difficult could it be right? Sadly this poor design requires an absurd amount of work. sure hope the lamp never fails.

I had this happen today with a 2023 trail boss, the camera won't fit in the Recon led unit nor do the screws line up for the bracket to hold the camera in place.

Just bought Lasfit LEDs . Not going through all this trouble just to change lights. I have a head ache rack and I'm never fixing this brake light once it blows. I'll use a hole saw from the outside first before I mess up my headliner.

There's a re call on the back glass for leaking water just take to dealer and have them change light when they do re call. The plastic separates from the glass.

It's not a recall, just a technical service bulletin (TSB). I have the infamous rear window water leak on my brand new 2023 Sierra HD. My completely incompetent dealership service department fucked my truck up, and didn't even fix the leak. Just ordered the the high-tech seam seal, and eight 10mm bolts to fix it myself per the TSB. The incompetent techs at Buick GMC Hyundai of Goshen can't follow the simple instructions on the TSB.

Chevy had a recall or sorts (they call it a maint bulletin) for rear window leak with auto slide open. the leaking point was actually in the tray where the window slides open - seems to crack. I was just out of warranty but printed the bulletin out and handed it to the dealer and told them i think they should be covering this....and they did.

Is the third brake light led or regular bulb? Seems silly to go through all that jazz just to replace a bulb. I think in 15 years the 2018 is going to be like the OBS and NBS trucks as they are the last of the pre over engineered trucks with out all the other technologies. I love my 2018 6.2 Sierra.
