That box literally looks like a £60 Start Collecting box they've slapped the 'Vanguard' logo onto and charged an extra £25

Maybe, if you compare it to the old saurus box, that was just an outlier because the stuff in it was so old. Its directly comparable to fec's right now or old deathrattle and those only have a half box of ghouls/skeletons. Compared to Ironjawz pigs cost about the same as the carnosaur but you get a partial box of ardboys and a warchanter is cheaper than a krox kit. Compared to old IDK you got the same type of two full units and a foot hero compared to a big monster instead.

Big true. Probably a lot to do with the fact that it is LITERALLY the old SC Saurus box but instead of knights it features kroxigors. Like minimum they needed to add a foot hero and it would still feel like weak justification. Like throw a slann in there or a unit of the new aggredon lancers. As is feels like vaungaurd box’s are just a way from them to jack up the prices of SC boxes. Like lots of other vaungards set give a nice blueprint for what the boxes should be. KO and OBR come to mind. Monster, elites, troop, foot hero. Vanguard boxes as SC but they added an elite. This one literally could of been the old SC.

I’ve been holding off buying my final 10 warriors and another 3 Krox (6 are spicy in KC) in the hope this would be in the box! Don’t have a Trog so a good buy for me! Was really hoping for astrolith, warriors and 6 aggradons but hey ho!

I was convinced they'd have the new Scar Vet and Aggradon Lancers in this box along with Kroxigors. Surprised they kept the Carno in there.

Hey Caleb! I just started AoS and what else to choose than Seraphon! 😂 I bought the Army Set box for the Battletome, Warscrolls etc. I've been wanting to buy the Vanguard box and Primordial Starhost as well, if i get the Vanguard box, will i be able to build the Skink on Trog? Is there a Skink in the box to put on the Trog? Love your content, keep it up dude! 💪

Nice video. These new models made me decide to start lizards. I have some old metal models I put together and I bought the Saurus SC, the Army box, Krox Warspawned, and a box of Temple Guard. If anyone has the old Saurus SC box, Brian's Hobby Space channel has a video or two where you can make the Trogladon, Astrolith Bearer and some others with extras from that kit. So from the one Suarus SC box, I got the Carnasaur, Trogladon, 10 warriors, 2x Lancers, Astrolith Bearer, Scar Vet on Aggradon, and Saurus Oldblood on foot. For the knights, I 3D printed some larger Dino mounts and will proxy them as Agg Lancers. I plan to use the cold ones dinos for Catachan Rough Riders in 40k. You will have to buy some extra bases for the trog and the lancers.

Got the Army Box and before a long break I had two SC boxes. This would fit in REALLY well and perhaps I can build the carno as a Scar Veteran as I already have the Oldblood and Troglodoon. While I could go for a second Oldblood I'd prefer to have more variety.

Two of them look good if you're entirely new. 6 buffed krox still hit like a truck in koatl's and are the highest output in the army. Its not like the tools to move them around aren't there. The way the points work out gives you a lot more flexibility with 6-6 aggra/krox than 2 units of reinforced aggradons. Oldblood Carnosaur plus Trogg also just look absolutely playable together with how good Mire and Heavenly Frenzy are. Coalesced needs monsters and skinks anyway or it just can't do book tactics.

Am i nuts or are these vangaurd boxes reducing in value ALREADY. Feel like 2 vangaurd boxes ago this would of includes a foot hero. Yeah in this case you can technically convert one but feels like GW is just disguising a massive increase in price to start collecting boxes at this point.

For sure! The old Saurus Start Collecting box maxed out at $95 i think. It had Carno kit, 8 Saurus Knights, and 12? Saurus Warriors. So even though this is a "good deal"... it is still more expensive than it used to be.

It would have been too nice to get a box for the skinks. By the way, does anyone have a great idea for a skink guerrilla army? I've always liked playing lots of skinks (chameleons too) without stegandons, but with rippers and terandons. The new riders could go in as well. However, I can't come up with a reasonable list with the new army book so far. I also don't play tournaments. I'm happy when I can play at all.

I started my collection by picking up the starter box, astrolith bearer, and a box of skinks, but I'm planning on playing coalesced, so this seems like a great pickup. I should probably paint what I've got first, though.

Painted all of my Aggradons with Contrast, in a very bright scheme that's still very much my current scheme. And I've not got much new sculpt warriors or any new kroxigors yet. So I'm thinking one or two of these for the new sculpts, and two carnosaurs I can do in a contrast scheme to better match the new aggradons. All of my army has the same basing but the scheme has brightened up considerably from how I was doing it with regular citadel paints.

Depends on if you like the Saurus side of the army or the skink. If you want to go Coalesced, build the Carno! If you like Starborne, build Trog! Welcome to Age of Sigmar!!

@@rigjig5644 nope. There are two sets of legs (one for on foot and one for riding the carno), but only one torso. I have one of my carnos with the Old blood on foot, but magnetized so I can put him on the carnos base. BUT... It's been a LONG time since the Saurus Old blood on foot has been worth taking. So you should be safe (for now) just putting him on the Carno.

Yeah, think about the people that played Lizards before AOS and were rocking blocks of 25 a drop...I think i have 75 Oldwarriors and at least 20 Temple guard to sit with my Slann...not to mention more skinks...too many skinks...
