Ugh, YOU ARE AWESOME!!! My daughter is thriving in MWC. We started with ABEKA and the lack of explanation really sapped her joy when she wasn't able to readily see the way to work out the problem. This was an excellent review. GAMMA looks very good as well. But little things about MWC seem to really resonate with my two kids. My son is finishing up level 1 and my daughter in in lever 2. They like when they get into a new color. They appreciate the games and the picture book selections are like icing on the cake. My most favorite is the built in review. When they first get the book, they are like, "I don't know you call the answer to an addition problem." But after a few weeks of the same question they say "sum" with so much confidence! They are proud of themselves! So so thankful for this curriculum!

hahaha--yes, my son also gets excited when he gets to the next "color" section in his workbook. Yes--the quick reviews are one of my favorites, the memory work has been so beneficial!

We are still going strong with MUS for all four of my children! I am so thankful for Math U See. I do love how Math with Confidence incorporates the games right into the student book. That makes it so much easier to implement the fun games without having to go and find everything needed for the game. MWC makes it easy by just making it the next thing to do in the curriculum!

That's awesome that you guys are still loving MUS! It's an 'Old Faithful' in our family's homeschool, for sure. And yes, MWC is the only reason that we have math games as part of our lessons--it's because they're right there, incorporated right in and usually only use a deck of cards and some counters, or maybe some dice.

We use MWC and MUS together which has worked wonderfully for my daughter. Would you implement MWC 3 with MUS Gamma and Delta together? Or would it be too much together? Love all the wisdom you give us throughout your videos!

My oldest is actually using MWC 3 as well as both Gamma and Delta right now. Whether that's "too much" probably depends on your specific child and homeschool routine. For him, he flies through Gamma and Delta for some quick 'fact practice.'

Me and my husband used math u see with a vcr!!! I did buy the streaming tho!!! I love math u see but my kids don’t!!! We have old copies as well!!! We have red dust on our math u see books!!! I say a math u see lesson is 1 - 2 weeks!!! We find the blocks are useful for multiplication with my kids!!! My kids think math u see is dry!!! We loved the books!!! I love that MWC taught division alongside multiplication and taught it in a opposite way!!! My kids have found this approach useful!!! We love MWC games and I put them in a folder so they could be replayed for review!!! We love the blackline masters and use them in a folder!!! We do random math memory work and especially when I see issues!!! We start doing it more often and do it less often!!!

Since you are so familiar with Math U See, what are your thoughts on going to unit 20 in Gamma, then going through several units of Delta to learn single digit division, closer to MWC’s sequence? One of my children finds MUS a better fit than MWC, although I do like both!

I don't think that would be a problem at all. Actually my mom has my oldest doing gamma and Delta somewhat simultaneously with my oldest during her "grandma school" session in recent months (I say somewhat simultaneously because she started with just Gamma and eventually she was like, well, we might as well work through Delta, too.)

I haven't used MWC 3, but I did the Multiplication Facts that Stick, and it was a really great way to practice over and over the multiplacation facts. Like you say, the game element (and that book is almost exclusively games) really took the sting out of needing to practice math facts 😁

Yes--the author really has a knack for games that are not overly complicated. My son is always requesting to play "another round" of whatever the math game in the lesson is.

Wow this is exactly what I needed to see but didnt know it. Comparing these two was brilliant. We are moving into MWC 1st grade shortly and have loved MWC K so much. We purchased on your recommendation and it fo not disappoint in the slightest. I dont think will be considering another math curriculum for awhile. Will you be using the Math-U-See for your oldest son? 😀🧮 Edit: I also forgot to ask if you are still using Beast Academy and if so are you still enjoying that as enrichment?

Glad this was helpful, to see them side-by-side! I have been very pleased with the MWC approach for years. Regarding my oldest: He still does Math-U-See worksheets but he does them with his grandma as part of "grandma school" a couple afternoons a week...I love that they can have their grandma/grandson quality time. She also reads him Life of Fred. And yes, we're still working our way through Beast Academy, and have found that to be an excellent addition to really stretch and challenge him. BUT this is with a very math-minded kid. I don't think I would do Beast Academy with a child that wasn't wired to understand math and love it. I will be doing a review soon as we get to the end of our current level.

@SevenInAll love that your kids have "grandma school", so very precious and rare since not many grandmas that I know of, were homeschoolers! 🥰 Another update/review on Beast Academy would be excellent. Thank you Rachel! 👍🏻
