Congrats on the grandkid! Thanks for the lessons. It’s changed how I play acoustic music entirely, and for the better. Very excited to use these patterns in my music

Yeah, as older grandparents, you can imagine how excited we are . You’re welcome Graham, for the lessons and I’m glad they are helping. As I get older and can’t play or perform, I can still teach it. Thanks for listening and thanks for your kind words.

Glad to.be of help. Thanks for the feedback. Once you get the pattern down and increase accuracy and timing and improve your fluidity in changing chords it becomes fun. You’re on your way. Did you see my most recent post, “Completing the Pattern” Check it out. It will set the stage for my next post “How to Play Tuolumne.” Happy holidays Steven.

Hello Dennis, first off you're were really great teaching from ground up. From the day I begun playing, finger packing was on my list but from things I heard from my friends it always felt very 'elite' (still is!) After few days of practice I'm feeling comfortable with this picking pattern, now I'm trying to practice some other 4/4 rhythm, especially ones with accents. now the question, how do you proceed with accenting finger picked notes, is it by playing louder that particular note or by other means? some rhythms I'm wondering, > > > 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + and slight deviation from offbeat accents (guessing it would sound neat when finger picked) > > > > 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + (sorry if this question is out of order regards to lesson's course) btw, cheers for your grandpa adventures! have a great day

Louder perhaps, with little variation in the timing, which is of paramount importance with Travis picking. Eventually, when players become more proficient with the pattern, accenting notes becomes more natural, and you’ll intuitively figure that out. Good luck my friend.

Love your videos and i thank you for posting but we seem to be spending a lot of time on the stuff we have already learned on the previous videos. I hope this doesnt sound too cheeky. I dont mean to sound unappreciated. Thanks Robert

Are you playing the pattern at 100 bpm?

@@Bobby8270 ... you’re lucky; you’re one of the elite that catches on quickly. Remember though that the sponsors of the lessons are encouraging me to slow down as this is really for beginners. We actually were finally successful in gathering together in the first zoom class and these people are truly beginners. How long have you been playing?
