We do preserve a lot of old buildings in the Netherlands, but not in Rotterdam. The reason is that Rotterdam was bombed by the Nazis and thereforw the old buildings were destroyed

Rotterdam has a large Portuguese-speaking community. After Portugal, Rotterdam is home to the largest Cape Verdean community. In the Netherlands, most Brazilians live in Rotterdam. Rotterdam also has the largest Caribbean-Dutch community and speaks Papiamentu, a Creole-Portuguese language. After London, it has the largest summer carnival in Europe with a million visitors every year. During this parade, mainly Dutch Caribbean, people from the Caribbean, Brazilians, Cape Verdeans, Latin Americans and Creole Africans participate.

6:06 the bridge opens when a boat can't fit underneath it, after the boat has gone through it closes back for cars to drive across the bridge again. there are a lot of bridges that can open because of the many waterways the netherlands has. Love all your videos! you guys are great

Fun fact, at the other side of this gate 18:20 you can see a rectangular valve in the ceiling. The same in front of Rembrandt’s Nachtwacht, in the floor. In case of emergency the painting wil be dropped in this hole, and a net will catch the painting above the public street 😁

I come from the south of the Netherlands and I didn't see one thing in the video of Maastricht... the mergel caves... which has a lot of history... and attracts enough tourists... but the rest of the Netherlands also is very nice and I don't think you can visit so many beautiful places in a week's holiday...and the Netherlands is still a small country...compared to Germany and Belgium...

I'm Dutch and really like you two. I think most Dutch will like you. I live in The Hague in a very old house and so far had 3 Brazilian visitors over. So here's my offer. When the time is right you can stay at my house rent free. I will even cook for you like real Dutch food. I'm pretty sure there are other people in other cities in The Netherlands that will aso invite you rent free so you can explore the entire country. So I'm going to kick this off with a yes. Come visit my country and stay rent free with me.

Yes, the Netherlands is an awesome country where things generally are well maintained and organized, but of course it's not perfect over here, either. Not _everyone_ in the Netherlands has enough money to buy what they want, we have our share of poor people, struggling to make ends meet. Though, yes, when you're poor in the Netherlands according to our definitions, you're probably still significantly better off than being poor in most other countries. Also, though I'm sure you're aware of this, this is a promotional tourist video. Not every spot in the Netherlands looks like this. It'd be like me watching a '10 awesome places in Brazil you must visit' tourist video. I work in one of the buildings you see in 13:10 in the video :)

the country is called the Netherlands (Países Baixos). Holland is only the 2 western provinces on the coast. When the bridge opens the other traffic (cars, bikes, pedestrians )have to wait but when there are many ships who need to pass the bridge there are intervals where the bridge closes and the ships have to wait so everybody has a change to proceed in a reasonable time. Amsterdam is beautifull but in my opinion not the number 1 there are so many beautifull cities i like better, like Haarlem, Edam, Marken, Monnikendam and many more (im from Amsterdam and i love my town). I hope you will be able to visit the Netherlandsin the future just dont get a hotel in Amsterdam in Haarlem the hotels are very much cheaper and there are trains going to Amsterdam that take aboit 20 minutes and are going every 15 minutes

BEM-VINDO!!!

If you live in Nijmegen, you live in a city that is more than 2000 years old. Nijmegen has a long history, dating back more than 2,000 years. As Ulpia Noviomagus Batavorum it received market rights around the year 100. In 1230 Nijmegen became a free imperial city and in 1402 a Hanseatic city. During the Roman Empire, Nijmegen was part of the Limes, the border between the Roman Empire and the various so-called Germanic areas. The Roman 10th legion was stationed in Nijmegen from 71 to 104. During Roman rule, a large fort (castrum) was built on a hill on the River Waal, a few parts of it still remain. Excavations are also regularly carried out where Roman objects are found.

we thank you about your wonderful comment about our country first Rotterdam was destroyed by the Nazis during WW2 completely and had to be rebuild from scratch and the engineers was given to free reign for their design as there was no old Rotterdam left to be saved only one building survived from old Rotterdam and yes we lots of bridges as we have rivers and canals and the bridge left open for boats and transport ships and close when they pass so the cars bikes and people alike can cross and thank you for saying the Netherlands because that is the name of our country which consist 12 providence and 2 providence in the west of country are providences of North Holland and south Holland where Amsterdam and Rotterdam and the Hague are located thank again for kind words of country and I hope I at least given you some understanding the composition of our country oh we hate when people call all our country Holland as Holland only consist 2 providence on the west of our country on the North sea and out the 12 providence that make up our beautiful country .greetings from Amsterdam North Holland the Netherlands.

You do realize South Holland and North Holland aren't just Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague, right? So many typical Dutch (fort) towns to visit in those provinces, with a rich history. I should know, where I am from, a hidden gem like Brielle/Den Briel is right around the corner. Rural areas in South Holland and North Holland are just as much worth the visit. Not to diminish the beauty of places in the north, east and south. I just hate it when people look at the Randstad and think there must not be any great countryside in between. These places are less touristy but close to the tourist traps you speak of.
