Many people don't know that Philips and Shell are Dutch companies. Philips (and Sony?) invented the CD. The Dutch are also very successful in speed skating and shorttrack.

Some extra fun additions Point 9, we learn to read and speak English from elementary school. Point 13. If it's a girl you traditionally eat pink colored muisjes, and if it's a boy you eat blue. Extra fun fact, muisjes is directly translated to "Little mice" Point 15, don't forget our ice skating and F1 racing with Max verstappen being basically unbeatable. Point 29 and 52, Almost 59 of our lands are in danger if a dijk or this sea defense fails as we literally build under sea level. Nederland (how we say and write the Netherlands) literally means lower lands. Extra fun fact: this system has been used as a weapon in earlier times where we fought off the armies of Napoleon by just flooding our lands. Point 40, As you can see, our flag used to be orange, white and blue and was known as the Prince flag. Orange because our royal family. This was slowly replaced long ago for red. Point, 42 and 61, We are known as the gateway to Europa with one of the most important harbor and airport. point 57, both are laws every Dutch person completely ignore and you get a fair warning if the police reacts at all. Point 66, often in the middle of the circle there is table with a platter of small cubes of cheese and slices of sausage, we all talk to the person straight ahead so it's often very noisy and chaotic. And we have a word for the atmosphere and mood that can't be translated to another language, which is called "gezelligheid" (or abbreviations like gezellig) Point 69, We have cops that doesn't even wear guns here because the cops are trained to de-escalate situations. There is a lot of mutal respect between citizens and cops.

I would like to add some things on these facts: Number 8, Giethoorn, actually used to be a village without any roads. In the old village center, you only have some foot paths, but other than that, you have to travel by boat through the canals. Now the outskirts of this town do have roads. Number 13: we have the "beschuit met muisjes" in both blue and pink colors, indicating the gender of the baby. Number 24 (supermarket/purchasing power): Some people are struggling here too, to buy good and healthy food. But overall, we have access to good, healthy food everywhere. Number 29: This is actually somewhat unique to The Netherlands, other countries like Germany, the UK or the US are struggling with this too. Number 31: Heineken used to be the biggest producer, until Corona beer from Mexico passed them a few years ago. Number 58: We're also the biggest exporter of flowers worldwide. Number 64: This is actually an underground parking garage for bicycles. Number 66: Campfires in nature aren't allowed though, so the image is misleading.

Tbf I dont really think thats how it works. I dont think in the past all we did was complain. It was all about acknowledging there is a problem and then try to solve it instead of just complaining
@mavadelo Жыл бұрын
@@littleDutchie92 Of course how I say it is an oversimplification of things. But all those great inventions started with someone complaining they weren't able to do something right? "I need a better way to play my music" .. And there was the cassette tape, "I can't measure the car speed correctly" .. boom Speedcamera. I don't say it is "just complaining", I say, our tendency to complain a lot triggers our progress in many ways. Take our bike infrastructure, we can literally thank that to people complaining about the bad traffic and many traffic kills. Without the demonstrations in the 70's we would have followed the USA and be car dependent instead of being the cycle capital of the world. Complaining works.

Yeah, in almost all professional sporting events, Dutch people wear orange. Frankly, it's just simpler than a flag suit. Consciously or subconsciously that would be something you'd have to decode in your mind to see what's what. And I don't mean literal flag, but oftentimes you do see attire reusing the flag's palette and if it's not something you're used to seeing you end up having to figure it out by trying to match it up in your mind.

We Dutchies did solve a lot of problems and now have a pretty high and happy level of living, but that also comes with tax consequences like 50% income tax, (more or less) and everything is taxed. We pay taxes over taxes on the energy for instance. But all that money does go to proper roads without potholes, water management, social safetynet, proper health care etc. So many people say "you guys are so rich" or "you're not poor" but we do have poverty too. You just don't see it in the "facts video's" because nobody wants to show their bad side. We too have homelessness, we too have drug addicts, and we too have people living just below the poverty line... having to go to the foodbanks for food etc. So yeah, we are a rich country, and we have a lot of innovative stuff and good ideas, good export, but there are housing shortages, youth mental health waiting lists from the Nethrelands to Tokyo. And some other problems to solve. It's a nice fact video, but for sure doesn't show any negatives ;-)

Tulips are originally from Turkey, not the Netherlands. They just seem to grow a lot better here. I have 3 pairs of klompen, yes I do use mine. Although to be fair it's more to take out the trash then anything else. Easier then to put on your shoes and your feet won't get as dirty as when you use flip flops. A good addition is stones and other junk won't be able to hurt you. Giethoorn has ONLY canals and NO ROADS. English is not the first language, however it is a official language regardless. Primary language is Dutch, secondary is Frisian (which is spoken in the province of Friesland). The country has many official languages, but most are added recently thanks to woke culture (which clearly isn't a good sign in this case as it makes dialects suddenly languages while they are not) Beschuit met muisjes needs some additional context. For a boy you would use blue and white, for a girl you use pink and white. However you have various other color variants for other occasions and reasons. Orange being only sold around the king's birthday and not on other days for example. 3:41 "Fierljeppen" as it's called in Frisian where this sport originates from. In Dutch it's called "polstokspringen" and English it uses the Frisian word strangely enough. But can also be named "canal vaulting". The idea is to run towards that pole and use your momentum to have the pole move forward while you climb to the top to make as much distance as possible. It however originates with farmers that wanted to keep their feet dry when trying to cross a narrow canal between 2 pieces of land. Instead of placing bridges they decided to use a pole instead. We used to pay for plastic bags, but then the woke agenda had to be pushed so we don't have any plastic bags anymore. I use a backpack to carry my groceries for years already, so i'm not directly affected though. Dutch Antilles being not too far away from Brazil obviously. It's a flight of just a few hours even. Efteling is build before Disney was even a thing. Disney even stole a lot of the rides and ideas from the Efteling and tries to this day to shut down Efteling to make sure no one finds out. Herring is gross, I throw up within 2 minutes after eating it. I prefer kibbeling myself. Which is battered chunks of fish fried. I prefer tea, I can't stand coffee haha. Anti-flooding systems didn't start with the delta-works project. It started at least 1500 years before if not before that. This by making simple hills so people could escape the floods. The Dutch flag is the original tri-color flag, then France stole it and after that many other nations. All tri-color flags are based upon the Dutch design. Yes, canal boats are owned by people who indeed are living on these boats. Amsterdam is however not the only city that has people living on boats. You can find similar boats in England, but those are not for living so far I'm aware. Also the British variants are way smaller and more narrow. For living in trailers, well the Dutch are known for traveling during summer holidays with their caravans (trailer houses pretty much) to other countries. Floating houses are a thing as well, these do not have a engine but are held in place by poles. They can rise and lower with the tides without any issues. Correction regarding coffeeshops or rather the well known product they sell. Technically it is ILLEGAL in the Netherlands. However the police won't bother you if you have 5 grams or less with you are are smoking in one of these shops or at home. It's however tourists that really enjoy it the most.

Nice video. But currently we are also making a lot of mistakes that need to be fixed. Mostly with an overflow of asylum seekers from Islamic countries who will never assimilate fully. The cultures are way to different. But we do need immigrants for jobs but we make it very hard for people of South America to come and live here where their culture is pretty similar to ours. We also make it difficult for Asian people who are often Buddhist and again their culture has much more in common with ours. We recently had new elections and the party that is against these Islamic asylum seekers is the biggest political party now. What we should do is keep them all out and let people who want to work and have a pretty similar cultural background in.

2:37 What the actual f***. I've been there a number of times and I have never in my life heard anyone refer to Giethoorn as "The Venice of the North". I think he got his little factoids confused there, because The Venice of the North is indeed a very well known alias, but not for that; for Amsterdam. Amsterdam is called that. And, fun fact, it actually has more canals than the real Venice. A lot more.
@littleDutchie92 Жыл бұрын
Nope. Giethoorn is definitely widely referred to as the Venice of the North. Even more so than Amsterdam
@StevanOutdoor Жыл бұрын
That's a no. Where Amsterdam is much bigger and has a lot of canals it also has a lot of roads. Giethoorn has very few roads. So the Venice of the North is most definitely Giethoorn.

Apenas a minha opinião, claro. Eu amo seus vídeos! Saudações da Holanda!

The secret to social democracies, europe style, is taking care of your citizens at the expense of the third world via unequal exchange and destabilisation, but they're vulnerable to the same class of aggressive capitalists and fascists that are curently running the US (for example). They still do the same exploitation the US does, but take care of themselves, or at least used to. As mentioned, maintaining those social policies AND constant growth isn't viable when your military, industrial and economic power is waning on the global stage, and so everywhere in Europe we see rollback on social policies, and a rise of fascists.

The Netherlands is much more than the two Holland provinces they mainly showed you here. They showed you part of Rotterdam when they mentioned Amsterdam; I mean the red bridge in the left background. You have to pay for plastic bags in shops and supermarkets so you bring your own. Oh yes, there are more poor people than you think. Poor to dutch standards but they get support by governmental subsidies for healthcare, living etc. Nature is under severe threat and in bad shape. Almost all dutch names were pronounced quite wrongly but ok he tried. Gouda is pronounced as gowdah. Gow like in cow.

I am confused how you consider yourself a 3rd world country? ... perhaps you should research these terms: first, second and third world countries. From my European perspective you are not 3rd world nation. Most of the nations in your area are not. Kudos to you citizens. You sound coming from the Southern Americas. Anyone who ever told you you are a 3rd world country... at this time... is utterly mistaken. Besides... what an utterly disrespectfull way to look at other countries like this.

Belgium is worth visiting too! I joke that Flanders is to the Netherlands a bit like what is Austria to Germany. More catholic, better food, a common but distinct and somewhat old fashioned version of the common language. Wallonia offers more French influences. Brussels is seat to the EU and NATO. Antwerp is a beautiful city, as are Gent and Brugge.

Well... I'm Dutch and I'm unfit for work.. (PTSD) And I can't buy the food I really need... healthy food! Because I live on benefits I'm pretty poor compared with healthy people who can work. So my food is pretty much all cheap fast food that I bake in the oven... fries and hamburgers. No money for healthy food. And healthy food is getting even more expensive over here. But part of the problem is also... I'm very lonely.. no family... few friends because most people just can't understand what PTSD is and does to a person so they think I'm crazy or something. So I have 2 cats to not feel lonely... And they get the best food while I live on fries and hamburgers. I'm not gonna go cheap on my cats... so for having cats to not be so lonely I have to pay a price. Give my cats the best food and for myself I have to take the cheapest stuff I can find.. not only with food. Also with clothes and toothpaste and showergel and stuff.. the cheapest I can find. Because of this my hair feels like straw!!!!!😅 But hey.... it could be worse.🤷 At least I have food.. not healthy food.. but at least it fills my stomach! In 3rd world countries some people have an empty stomach for days! So I'll just live with it.🤷 At least I found a hobby recently that can give me some extra money from time to time so I can buy a healthy chicken ceasar salad once every few weeks.👍 I'm always looking to make some extra money with hobbies the legal way. Because I don't wanna end up in prison I'm not gonna go the criminal path to get some extra money. Did that... never again! It just makes me feel sick about myself. I'm so proud of myself that I didn't do anything criminal in the last 10 years! I was a master shoplifter and scooter/moped thief... But I'm trying to like myself again... I can't like myself if I would still do shoplifting and stuff! 😅 It's not easy and I'm depressed but lile I said... it could be worse if I look at other countries.
