Wow! This brings back memories! I had a '72 Toyota Carina back in the mid-80's with a modded N/A 2TC that ran really well (but nothing like THIS!). I did a bunch of head work to it, Manley stainless valves, Crower custom grind street cam, forged rods and pistons, lightweight pushrods, aluminum flywheel with a steel center, 45 DCOE side drafts, HD clutch, and assorted other go-fast goodies. I used to run it at the 1/8 mile brackets at Clearwater and it was my everyday driver as well. These little engines will make a ton of power with the right parts! It would make around 175 hp. @8500 rpm., which was pretty wild for a 1750 lb. car in that day and age.😄👍

Awesome!! Whats the drivetrain combo on that thing, I'd to go to w58+ hilux clutch on my 2tg/3t coz the stock t50 was burning clutch fast. Whats the spool rpm on tat big ass turbo, looks to have pretty nice roll on torque in your vid.
@psiracing3 жыл бұрын
Hey man, yea it has a w58 trans to make it even more reliable. Has the the same clutch since we put it together about 15 years ago, also has a Datsun pick up truck rear end

Do you or he have the old parts for this car? I have a 3tc In My 81 Corolla and another engine on the side wanting to build it, alongside learning the process... I’m willing to buy old stock if you have for a budget build street car. Was hoping to get near 150-200hp if possible, not sure where to start. Some have been telling me 280 cam, side drafts, and headers and I can get 150, but I’m willing to turbo if I that’s a route that can be reliable for the 3tc as a short-range-daily’driver. Just to have decent pickup and go. What do you think or recommend? Any info appreciated, thanks
@psiracing3 жыл бұрын
Hey Man, you can email us at psiracing@aol.com and Im sure we can point you in the right direction. Turbo will definitely cost you more but way more power. Just have to base it off a realistic budget!

What would be involved to run a low boost set up on a 3T-EU, preferably retaining the factory manifold and internals? I wouldn't be expecting more than ~120rwhp.
@psiracing3 жыл бұрын
Honestly tricky to answer. A nice NA Build can make more power then that, if you go turbo you go for over i say 250hp, not sure what kind of abuse the stock pistons can handle tho

Are those TWM/Borla DCOE ITBs? If so, are you able to pressurize them without any issue?

@@psiracing Thanks, I've had a pair I put on my HKS 5AGX Turbo, however I could never get the idle to come back to its original rpm. I figured air was ingressing, so I asked TWM Induction and they said they were not designed to be pressurised. That was before Borla brought them, so I'm nor sure if they were redesigned.
@psiracing3 жыл бұрын
@@horatiow2588 that's weird, yea these were bought over 15 years ago when for sure borla didn't own them and we don't have any issues as you can see from the video

After years of throwing around the idea of a swap, I think I'm just going to turbo the 3tc. Not for crazy power, but fun, usable street power. It also won't be this pretty 🤣
