For this Versus Series match up will be pitting Final Fantasy against Devil May Cry once more in the cross brand face off. The imperfect member of SOLDIER Genesis will go take on the demon hunter Nero to see which of these two super human swordmen would walk away the winner.

Coming back to this after dmc5 made me realize something about how Nero's DT in 4 may work. For starters it seems pretty clear that being only 1/4 demon and mostly human makes it more difficult for Nero to unlock his latent demonic power. The power's still in there, it's just buried under the three quarters human, making it much more difficult to bring out. So it's pretty fitting that Yamato, a blade now confirmed to be able to separate human and demon, is the weapon that allowed Nero to literally bring out his latent power and give it a physical presence. So essentially it was like a safer less powerful version of what Vergil did in 5. Using Yamato he was able to somewhat separate his demon side from his human body, granting him access to the power without actually having unlocked his Devil Trigger

Wrong about Nero in beginning, Neros arm changed before the game, and also Nero didn't force Dante to retreat, Dante tested him, since he had traits similar to Vergil as well as Dante himself.

I think this may be the best one you've done yet. The matchup being a novel idea with interesting thematic similarities between the two. Your breakdown of nero got me interested in purchasing DMC4 and to experience his journey myself, and your breakdown of genesis in your "genesis vs terra" video had me interested in more obscure final fantasy characters and in the lore of ff7 in general. Ah as soon as I saw the matchup, I knew Genesis would have the edge in some degrees due to experience and magical ability. Nero would definitely not win easily, but Devil Trigger in the back can make up for any magical abilities that might surprise him. Looking forward to your analysis!!

Dante would defeat MGR Raiden barely. Kratos would destroy Auron easily. Zack vs Nero... Is something I think 3tr should decide. If this is DmC 5 Nero, then Zack doesn't stand a chance. If this is DmC 4 Nero, then I think Nero would still win, but barely. Physically, they are on par. Zack is better in magic. Nero is better in weaponry. Nero is slightly better tactically.

A guide actually said that during the crisis core era Genesis and Sephiroth were practically equals but Sephiroth was the better swordsman and what Genesis lacked in swordsmanship he made up for with his magical abilities. And Genesis could use magic without materia.

Goku Black I don’t recall ever reading a file that states Genesis uses magic without materia, but it has been a while. I’ll have to search that up. As for being equals, no. SOLDIER members are ranked by their combat grade. Genesis ranks equal to Sephiroth in SOLDIAR combat grade. It is clear in the training sequence that Sephiroth is far superior to both Genesis and Angeal, even at the same time. Furthermore, Zack defeated Genesis, Sephiroth made quick easy work out of Zack when he was blood luster.

malibutaa you read the files right before Angeal kicks your ass and you meet Areith. While reading the files they talk about how Genesis was born a "normal child" and was deamed a failure but when he got older it was discovered he could use magic without the use of materia. It's a conversation you have with Sephiroth about project G. I'm just telling you what the guide said and it said they were equals in combat rank was not mentioned they specifically said he was equal to Sephiroth but Sephiroth was better with swords, like a lot better, and Genesis made up for his swordsmanship with his magic. You may not agree with it but that is what the guide said.

Great vs vid like always! I apologize to those who were looking forward to Vincent, I honestly was not trying to change the match up I just simply stated my opinion that Genesis vs Nero would be a more balanced match up and I personally think Vincent would stomp Nero given his insane level of both weapons and abilities combined with his experience, would make him much more versatile than Nero and more than able to take him down.

Besides Vincent is shooter character while Nero uses both guns and a sword so thinking back on it now Vincent would be better off taking on another shooter character.

Wouldn't nero be a practitioner of niman as well probably not a master but he does integrate pistol shots into his blade sequences and he has all of those weapons and in his devil trigger mode he uses his gun in conjunction with his blade and he often uses his devil bringer arm in conjunction with his sword so that would obviously point to a adept use of physical aspect of niman

No Niman is way too much a mixed up form for Nero it requires incorporating powers into ones move set aswell as being a mixuture of forms 1-5 and Nero is not nearly as flexible as a combat to pull that off.

Ok I see your point but I can still see some aspects of niman in his style In how i said that he incorporates pistol shots and his devil arm into his blade sequences he may not be a full user of the form i believe that there are some aspects of principles of of it in his style maybe even only the mentality of balancing out his techniques and tying them together which I see some of in nero maybe even a version of jarkai rather than niman because jarkai isn't limited to duel blade it can be used with blasters knives and other weapons so while he may not use the form I see aspects of it in his style would you say

I love these videos, as they produce well proven and accurate results, but there is one tiny detail I disagree with. I do believe Nero's devil trigger enhances his physical form, although not by much. For example, if Nero grabs an Alto Angelo ( correct me if I got the name wrong) without the DT, he performs a suplex into a dropkick. With DT, he does a double rolling suplex into a tornado pile-driver thing. Other example against Credo Angelo, without DT Nero beats him down and finishes with an uppercut. With DT, he beats him down, then jumps like 15 feet in the air while holding onto him and spins down to the ground while driving his sword through. Last example, the frost ice enemy things. Without DT, Nero bangs them across the ground and tosses them. With DT, he has enough strength to complete another 3-4 ( I don't remember) rotations before then tossing them farther. There are a couple more examples, but I think you get the point. Again, I don't think Nero's DT enhances his physique by much, but enough to be worth mentioning. Keep up the great work, man. So ready for season 5.

I just want to say, Speed is the most important stat anyone can have. If you are twice as fast as your opponent you can attack and guard their attack, they cannot guard you can attack. A robust defense kept up can continuously block attacks from someone twice as fast but I'm just illustrating how important speed is. If Genesis is twice as fast as Nero, as long as Genesis has enough damage output to even wound Nero, he simply wins. As Nero can never touch him but can be touched. Of course, the rub is determining how much faster Genesis is over Nero. It's faaaarrr more important than durability unless said durability makes one effectively invincible. Durability is generally only important for determining the level of wounds one could take from another and really shouldn't be compared, especially favorably, to speed. How you do edges should be reworked, there's too many categories you're overlooking. Just do it stat for stat. Durability v durability. Strength v strength. Speed v speed.

I played kh1 and i know for a fact that dante can beat sora. Take donald and goofy out the fight and sora screwed regardless of how fast, strong and versatile he is, dante can and will figure him out quickly and sora by himself for the most part would have died in some of the easiest battles. So brian please stop saying sora unstoppable, beating shephiroth is not all that good if sora would have lost to much easier battles by himself.

small corrections , nero didnt beat dante dante played with him and reconigzed nero to have a similar power , and the yamato sword was fixed because nero is you know who son and the sword sensed the power in him which is the same as his dad thus why his devil trigger is a mirror image of his father . Dante left him the sword and said it has to stay in the family

Love your videos... Know this video has been out a long time but honestly really love them However.. while I agree Dante couldn't learn it... I think Virgil could learn Juyo even if it never became his primary form.. He shows I think some skill in shii-cho with his large cuts and movents while fighting the multiple demons at the start of the game this is brief so we dont see much of him fighting multiple opponents an not saying hes a master at this Makashi, shien and Niman you have explained I agree with what you said Yet despite not showing it directly Ataru uses hand to hand more than any other form from what I have researched which he could easily do judging from his showings.. an with his physical ability while not showing that I remember I defo thing he has the ability or potential to use decent acrobatics. With all other forms... at least elements under his belt I think he could learn it That said.. I dont think it would be his preferred style as Juyo is very aggressive and Virgil is carm and collected.. not an I saying he would want to learn it.. just that he has the potential and the prerequisites to start learning. A battle between raw strength and skill. If nero grabs genesis with the full strength of the devil bringer then yes genesis would pretty much die due to the raw power the ability possesses. Well genesis is much faster than nero so I believe genesis only has to avoid nero's strikes. Honestly I never liked nero because if you pay attention to the way he fights it's like a kid slamming a big stick into things

Just goes to show...Always save a trump card for when absolutely needed and never show your opponent too much early on in the fight IF you can afford it. Sometimes the Element of Surprise can be your only salvation against a truly deadly opponent.

Nero the Son of Vergil Sparda. The Next Strongest Guadian of Light. Has Discovered the Inner Power with the help from his Father Vergil who removed his Arm because of Yamato. Now with a raceback defeats both his father Vergil who lied as V and Dante his uncle.
