Versus Series | Nero Vs. Lucia (800th Video)

Bringing my 4th match up of 2015. What would happen if Nero from DMC4 challenged Lucia from DMC2. With this video I plan to answer that questions.

You're right about Nero being the most aggressive, but Dante and Vergil would flat out kill you quicker. And Vergil's just the worst. Remember when they both fought Beowulf in DMC3. That thing was dead and didn't even know it.

The first fight with Dante wasn't the moment where he awakened his devil arm, he already had it before. The game explains that Kyrie (Nero's girlfriend) was attack by demons one day and that's when his devil arm appeared but he covered it up because it didn't look pretty I guess.

Nero's Devil Arm/Bringer was already there since a long time but it awakened (got its most powerful moment) when he got stabbed by Agnus and becoming one with Yamato then activate his Devil Trigger

Nero’s devil bringer was awoken when he was injured by the demons attacking Kyrie. He concealed his arm due to the religious beliefs of the order of the sword (up until later in the story When the truth is revealed) who worship Sparda but kill other demons. Nero believed the order would turn against him and that he would lose his foster family should they see his arm. When Dante attacks him it destroys the sling and bandages Nero was using to hide the Devil Bringer. Throughout the story Nero gains power and soon realizes the order is not only weaponizing demons but turning themselves into demons.

Not to keep hating on your DMC videos because I do like the set ups for your vids and the fact you use the characters so frequently. However you're wrong about Nero on a few points. 1) Nero isn't just peak human outside of his arm. He still has demonic strength speed etc. Watch his cutscene with Berial. He over powers Berials sword attack with his human hand and also with his human hand swings his sword hard enough to extinguish all the fires in the town. Plus that drop kick to dante and the bullet timing. He has a healing factor as he survives being impaled. 2) Nero has had that arm for more than just that day he just hid it from people with the cast. Before the events of DMC 4 Nero was in a battle with some demons and one struck his shoulder. Instead of healing like normal it transformed to what it is now

Interesting match up! I definitely agree that Nero would mop the floor with Lucia. I am looking forward to the next match up, I say no super weapons though, they should rely on their own strength. Plus Auron's super weapon is extremely OP.

i feel that nero would be too focused on her that he wouldn't notice lucia's time bombs, i do believe that she would be quick enough in the first few minutes of the dual to use them, and use them as distractions to help her gain a distance.

can you please do sephiroth vs vergil? masters of the sword. and I completely agree with you in this battle, personally I think and would fight to study my opponents weaknesses and exploit them them with speed and accuracy, but hyper offensive styles can cripple this style, if their attacks are strong enough to break defenses, as for dodging, nero's arm is so fast and closes the distance, this doesn't make it a factor.

You mentioned that Dante's style of fighting was working through an enemy's attack and then counter attacking. Would that classify him as a Makashi and Djem-So practicioner, since Makashi was about working through an opponent's attack rather than power through it and Djem-So was about counter attacking (correct me if I'm wrong)

I don't think so. Dante's strikes are too power-reliant, and he's all about building and keeping momentum; both are aspects that Makashi explicitly lacks and are weak points. For me personally, I'd have to say Dante's fighting style has elements of Shii-Cho (given his wide power cleaves with Rebellion), Djem So (Given some of the Counter Moves he puts on both Vergil and Nero), and Juyo (Given his love for battle and his aggression when he chooses to press an offensive). An argument could be made for Ataru (possibly as even being his dominant style), but I wouldn't argue for it, given that he's not shown pulling off many Ataru-sequel feats if you look at cutscene battles in DMC 3 and 4. In fact, if you go by cinematics as opposed to gameplay, his sword game is fairly grounded (also a Djem So indicator), and he's only shown getting crazy and acrobatic when using Ebony and Ivory.

I have a feeling that while Nero is not as powerful as Dante to where he could access an ascended DT, I do think that he could get a full DT it would be like Dante's ascended DT. How this ascended state would work well, I figure in gameplay this would mean we would need a multi DT system. Concentration level 1, full or phantom level 2, full or ascended level (based on a case by case basis).

it's hard to classify characters as Swordmaster, Gunslinger, RoyalGuard, and Trickster because they lack a defined definition. The Jedi fighting styles are much more defined and in detail.

Lucia doesn't have a chance against someone with the blood of Sparda. You can say that Lucia is 100% demon (while actually she's just 50% because she was created and not a devil-born). But Sparda is above most demon. And his lineages isn't become weaker.

Huh? How does Lucia get a physical edge when her fighting style is specifically for her to contend with full demons where Nero can just straight up fight them head on without a devil trigger. With Lucia devil trigger gives her a temporary form to match high level demons. Wouldn't Nero physique would be more consistently better?

ResistanceRhys Since I have a partnership with KZbin it does allow me to use the images as for the game footage I get all that myself. I can easily record the footage off my PS3 and PS4.

ResistanceRhys It sometime depends on what images are used. Company's like Konami from MGS match ups prevent me from making money on those videos. But for some reason Square-Enix has no problem with the vids as I'm sure they see it a free promotion to make them look good.

while I don't have a lot of knowledge on the series like others but base on what I've heard I won't deny that Lucia would have a lot of tricks that would allow her to gain the advantage against Nero, the main thing you have to take into consideration when it come to the two is how they were trained and the "purpose". While lucia is an artificially created half-demon or full-demon that was trained to kills demons, Nero is a human with access to demonic powers trained to kill demons that were statistically higher then Nero which means that he is able to take out demons that were stronger then him even before his devil arm activated he was still strong enough to combat demons, sure not to the point that he would give Dante a trouble but its not something to laugh about. I liked to believe that he loss to Dante because to strength, speed, or endurance differences but to simple battle experience and battle tactician. Dante has been alive fighting demons for probably much longer time then Nero did ( although I don't know for certainty on that.) facing many enemy in different ways which reflect his nonchalant personality. While like you said Nero was a straight forward guy which did gave Dante some trouble in their first battle when he activated his Devil Arm for the first time( even if Dante technically go easy and underestimated Nero during the first battle). So while yes Dante is a much more superior fighter then Nero I don't believe it was to a point that it was much of a problem for Nero since he was trained to fight demons that were stronger then him. So while Nero would have the advantage in terms of raw aggressive power over Lucia it would all depend on how much Lucia planes when she fights Nero, if it was just a straight up battle with little to no tactics then Nero would win in terms of endurance but if Lucia went into the battle knowing full well how Nero fought, his general strength and capabilities and had planed out the battle accordingly just like Dante did in their second battle then even if she lacked the power that Dante and Virgil had she would still win simply because she planed and acted accordingly to how the battle went such as pelting him and trying to not take Nero attacks head on and hammered him when he was just starting to get sloppy with her Devil Trigger getting him close to a weak state which would allow her to defeat Nero. All in all Lucia would win against Nero is she had prior knowledge or at least planned her attacks accordingly to how Nero fought her and not try to overwhelm him mid battle since Nero would still have some fight left in him to continue the battle while Lucia might not.

+3TopicsReviewer This is a really good video and I enjoyed it but there are a few mistakes on your part. Nero is confirmed to be Vergil son which does make him a 25% demon and Lucia is 100% Demon just like Trish. With Nero's durability is strong but still very limited to Dante&Vergil's, Nero was almost killed by Agnus in the 'Yamato Awakened' cutscene with simple stab injury's that Dante has taken many times before and if the sword(Yamato) wasn't there Nero would've died from multi-stabs from the Angelo's. With Dante vs Nero fight, while it's true that Dante was caught off-guard with the Devil Bringer(anyone would), Dante was still holding back(if he wanted too after he seen the DB Dante would've/could've ended him in the first fight) and as the 2nd fight shown Dante put more into that fight now knowing what Nero's DB could do(Dante did grab a Nero's raged empowered punch and disarmed Nero). In the long run no way Nero can beat Dante if Dante was more serious about killing him(and keep in mind Dante in 4 and 2 is stronger then Sparda and Nero is barely as strong as DMC3 Dante&Vergil so yeah). This is nothing major but without Yamato Nero can't use DT so keep that in mind. Now with the special abilities, Luica's DT 100% outclasses Nero's because as everything you listed and Lucia in DT *CAN'T* be knocked back or anything like that so even with Nero's strength from his DB it's will *not* hurt Lucia in DT(same for everyone else with full body DT in DMC) with punches. One error with Lucia's bomb(well not really a error) if the bombs connect with the target it will blow up on the spot(I overall agree what you said about the weapons). Now in the terms of power Lucia would have to be stronger then Nero, why? Because Nero's 2 greatest feat was beating a depowered/weakened Savior w/ the Pope infused with it than what Dante fought second's before Nero came out. And beating the Pope himself. Lucia's greatest feat was killing a Argosax empowered Arius which he his a devil king that that can go toe-to-toe or MAYBE stronger then Mundus himself, Nero hasn't fought anyone that powerful(Dante doesn't count because he was holding back) and beat them. While I don't agree on Nero winning I do really respect the time you put in the video(all your vids, I'm a long time follower), I hope you read this a reply :) PS You did made a few mistakes in your Vergil vs Nero fight, I would post them on that video but the comments are disable.

Can you please tell who said Nero is Vergils Son. I can understand if someone got a hold of Vergils blood and created a child. But since Vergil did not like humans. I find it very unlikely he would've wanted to have a child with one.

+Brandon Williams You make alot of really good point and I really thank you for putting in the effort. The main argument I would put on your response is something that I have seen in alot of responses to some of my older match ups. I have seen a pattern of people believing that because a character can beat someone with more raw power that that character should win. But my main counter to that is based off the notion that every opponent is different and has to be engaged differently. The main analogy I like to use is that if 2 Knights are fighting each other they will not fight that way if they were to fight a Dragon because the rules of engagement are completely different and require a different approach. If you look at the battle Lucia had with Argosax true he had alot of raw power but its lucia's speed and ability to dodge his attacks ultimately gave her the win. And I do agree that Lucia's DT from is much more powerful than Nero's but nero has become so skilled with the use of his devilarm that he has battled full demons with that much if not more power. Lucia is still very young so I would place her DT strength level somewhere near Dante's was in DMC3. And I simply believe that although Lucia has fought opponents much stronger than Nero. I dont think she's faced another trained opponent who has that raw ruthless aggression but can maintain themselves and stay focused. Most demon's just attack wildly in attempt to overwhelm their opponents but Nero is much more forced than your average overpowered demon. But again Brandon I really thank you for your response it was very well argued and I can absolutely see things from your prospective. This was the best response to one of my Versus Match ups I've seen in a long time.

xeroflarexl Ok first off I said Lucia would be harder to hit not impossible and the reason that Nero would be able to grab her the first time is because she would not expected it. If you played DMC4 you would know that this was something that even caught Dante of guard the first time he encountered it, and Dante is a far better fighter than Lucia. So if Dante was caught off guard by this then there is no question that Lucia would be caught off guard aswell.

Nero was never show to be able to keep up with Dante. Dante never took Nero seriously in a fight... even when Nero was using his Devil Trigger. This feat you claim Nero has is false.

On the contrary, it was the first fight he took even semi-seriously since his last fight with Vergil in DMC3. Of course Dante wasn't going all out, but he was definitely taking Nero seriously.

Notice how Dante doesn't speak in his first encounter with Nero until Nero revealed his Devil Bringer, so he didn't take anything except Nero any where close to semi-seriously, as while he was slaying the order's guards, he was making short work of them and not talking. Not even stopping to taunt like he normally would, showing that they weren't even worth his time. But even before Nero revealed his Devil Bringer, he showed a sort of recognition of him for being the only one to land a hit ( the drop kick he did that sent Dante flying) when he stopped to provoke Nero by pretending to rev the Rebellion like Nero had revved the fallen soldiers sword. So like I had said before, Dante did not go all out against Nero, but he did take Nero somewhat seriously.

Nope. Nero is alot stronger than most people think. In their first encounter Nero is able to overpower Dante and force his body to use devil trigger. I know Dante was holding back but it doesn't matter. Btw dmc4 Dante is stronger than his father Sparda
