The live LP recorded in Australia. All of that while SA seemed to believe he was dead. The money from sales that went to him instead of disappearing somewhere in SA - the dropping, unexplained, of the search for the money, the fact that SA wasn't the sole place that knew of him. I just watched the documentary and have now fallen into a Rodríguez hole, trying to discover as much as possible about this man and watch his live concerts on KZbin. I’m as amazed as his personality and character, as much as his story. It’s incredible to see how humble and human he is, completely uncharacteristic of legendary artists. He is shy and not at all comfortable in the limelight, but yet when he starts playing and singing, you see the mind behind the man, and it’s beautiful. He expresses himself completely through his music, and I’m so glad that he was found again and able to do this at least later in life. That is so sad. It seems that America will only recognize talent after it has been recognized. Bad America, bad.

He starts his set with an Elton John song, follows it up with some Doors, and in my music collection, his albums rank up there with theirs in terms of their status and prominence on my list of albums and artists. Legend

He played in the small town of Strand. I thought it was going to be a tribute singer. Imagine seeing my teenage hero alive and well.

I just don't understand one thing - how can anybody leave this concert, arrive late or just go around and not join the show. When Rodriguez was at our festival, I went there just because of him, I've been waiting there for an hour and left half hour after the show :) .

Showing his age and ailments but at 76 in this clip, he still performing well for his age. Particularly considering his past working life considering much of was manual labor jobs over the years all accolades to him. The amount of youth there to see him is also a testament to him and his music, it shows that sometimes simplicity is more enduring than the complex, the great of the fanciful.

discovered Rodriquez back in 1970-1971 after a friend returned after serving in the marines in Cuba where he found his "Cold Fact" vinyl album and brought it back to the states

Feel nothing but pity and compassion for the 204 misguided souls who decided to thumb this musical beauty down.

He's such a perfectionsist. Most musicians would just play through their mistakes, not Rodriguez. He doesn't want to let himself or the audience down. Just straight up tells them when he "fucks up." Love the honesty.
