I love how he was so sweet to her, even back then - when he was a "monster". Remember this is circa season ONE. God, the fact he never brought this up is so selfless Their connection was instant, they talked like they we're old friends. It took him 10 seconds to realize she wasn't Katherine, while it took Stefan WEEKS. When he compelled her, it was the sweetest thing "I want you to get everything you're looking for." That is beautiful :') I love Damon SO much. BTW, they were flirting SO HARD ;)

50 miles separated Damon and Elena from each other. Damon was about to die because Alaric was beating the hell out of him. Elena was about to die because Matt accidentally drove both of them off the Wickery bridge. Elena died but her death saved Damon’s life because vamp!Alaric’s life was tied to hers. Elena died but Damon saved her because it was his blood that she had in her system. Despite the distance they kept each other alive. How awesome is that?

@@aditibisht22 well what we were trying to say is some people especially stelena shippers keep saying Delena was not supposed to be endgame, that it came out of no where (eg some say the writers only even considered giving us Delena to please the fans, that Stelena was end game) yet what they fail to understand is Delena I was endgame from the very first episode, it was just a slow burn & you could only notice these moments if you paid attention to detail, for example when Bonnie in the very first episode tells Elena that when she touched her she saw a crow even before we knew about Damon, & then we came to find out that Damon is the man who moved wth the crow & a witch (Bonnie) saw Damon in Elena's life as part of her, & even in the end when Elena is writing in her diary, we see a crow, & I don't think it was just a coincidence that they put that crow in the ending. I'm not sure I explained it to the best, but hope u got what I'm tryin to say.

I think that it's really a love story between Damon and Elena. The time spent with Stefan allowed her to unveil Damon's different layers. I feel that Stefan is more of a key character necessary to unfold the romance between Damon and Elena.

And the sad part about all of this is, is that when Elena tried to give Damon a legit reason for why it was Stefan and not him is that all she could say was “Maybe if you and I had met first...” when Damon and Elena had, indeed actually met first. He could have said right then and there that they had met. He could have told her that he compelled her. But he didn't, he continued to let her believe that Elena had actually met Stefan first.

Take note that when Elena was talking about Stefan she ends it by saying “And that's what love SHOULD be, You SHOULD love the person who makes you feel alive” as if shes trying to convince herself that that SHOULD be enough, that that is the reason she fell in love with him- that that is the reason she should continue to love him. All we've been saying is that this scene is symbolic, and pretty freaking ironic, considering Elena was like 'maybe if I had met you first...' over the phone with him when she did in fact meet him first. Also, the fact that Elena told Matt 'Damon just consumes me' and later in this flashback Damon says 'you want a love that consumes you' just enforces the hope for Delena. The writers wouldn't make that an accident.

When they first met. 😍😂❤ While Damon maybe didn't initially go through with his typical nightly routine due to her resemblance to Katherine, I still think that while talking to her and learning a little bit about her as Elena herself, he was able to show a real affection for her. Enough to not want to hurt/kill her. And though the whole stalking thing with the crow, and even himself was still a bit creepy, it still was all just for intrigue (imo.) Same with Stefan. Sure again, their initial reason for doing so was because Elena looked like Katherine, but it's not like either of them were out to get her. (Meaning Elena.) So, after Stefan rescued her and after discovering the real first time Damon met Elena, I feel that their stalking was about intrigue and a feeling of the need to keep watch over her. ❤

This is a PERFECT set up for DE next season in actuality...I feel like Elena once again sorta chose Stefan again cuz once again, he's her security & safe choice cuz she's lost so many ppl.
