I think the only explanation is that because of damon love for elana he became vulnerable and caring but elena in her mind always choose Stephen because his the safe brother and all her friends will not judge her. Even the end of s3 she choose Stephen. She is like katherine in a way always play with the brother feeling. This my i hate elena character 🙄 she just manipulate the situation in her favour like katherine used to do. For my point of view i think elena desent deserve damon or Stephen for that matter she just used them to be safe nothing less.

I still can't get over this scene. Damon basically tells Elena he doesn't wanna disappoint her. He's gonna make sure everyone expects bad from him because vampires are bad, and leave the disppointing to Stefan because when people see good they expect good.

He’s taken by surprise to find her gawking, but confident as she’s basically inviting him in. She has a small panic attack trying to resist the passion for him building up. Trying to run away from it, but can’t because he chases her. All their emotions that have been build up for each other release with the most beautiful entwinement. First time I watched TVD I was a stelena fan, and I was so mad the way it ended, didn't dislike Delena but it was such a poor narrative, but after watching TVD for the second time I definitely became a Delena fan, yes, Damon didn't love Elena the way she wanted, but he loved her the way she NEEDED, I think Stefan genuinely loved Elena, but he had an unrealistic idea of Elena, he loved human Elena, while Damon Loved every single side of her, he loved crazy Elena, human Elena, vampire Elena, human less Elena, lost Elena, angry Elena, he loved her when she didn't loved him back, he simply loved Elena in her purest essence to the point that he was willing to sacrifice himself without any doubt just so she could live a happy life! Yes, he made many immature decisions, and was toxic AF, but he grew through loving Elena! ❤

One of the things I love about Rose, is the fact that she's not like any other shipper. Katherine ships Delena because she wants Stefan all to herself.
