If big Weapons used first, many human lives could have been saved.

Realistically, you'd have IFVs, APCs, and heavy machine guns in fortified positions behind a minefield on the frontline which would engage the enemy with high-caliber rounds from a kilometer or more away. Behind them, you'd have mortars, then tanks (which would move forward to use their anti-infantry machine guns one they exhausted their main gun shells), then TOS flamethrower systems if the Russians are involved, then tube artillery, then rocket artillery, and finally ballistic missiles well behind the frontlines, although that might be overkill at this point. All artillery would be firing either cluster or thermobaric shells, while at the same time, airpower would help destroy the enemy. A-10s, F-16s, B-52s, B-1s, AH-64s, etc. would all be carpet bombing the enemy (ideally with cluster or thermobaric weapons), easily killing thousands with each pass. The humans could have probably won this without taking a single casualty that wasn't from accidents or friendly fire if they used proper tactics.

Вообще-то примерно так и ведётся наступательный бой: высокоточное дальнобойное оружие истощает ресурсы противника, а так же выводит из строя инфраструктуру и высшее командование. Если это сделать идеально, то ведение боя обороняющимися будет так осложнено, что они могут просто сдаться.

В реальном бою на такой дистанции ракеты бы не помогли, они бы просто перелетали бы из за того что у них минимальная дистанция в десятки километров, и перезарядка дольше, но даже с эти раскладом думаю победил все равно Нургл, по тому что все кто выжил в любом случае заражены чумой и и дальше ее разнесут по мирному населению. ))
