My house got flooded. My RS was submerged in 250mm of fast moving dirty river water for approximately 2 hours. It survived and rides just the same. Good job Inmotion! Good job GoW on this video. 🤘👍

Something you might wanna try if you haven't yet for riding in the rain is applying a generous layer of RainX to either your glasses, goggles, or helmet visor.

1, I have seen my first cyber truck IRL and most of these tip I knew about when I road through heavy rain years ago. All I have to say is once you have hydroplaned before you take safety to a whole knew level. Great video My guy, videos like this gives rider like us informed knowledge on what to ride during the wet season. NYC roads are more special though so I'll be looking for the ultimate scooter for NYC.

800 miles on my rs through the rain and cold. Headlight needed replacement, brake rotors started to rust, Brake pads needed replacement. I get death wobbles past 30 mph sometimes. My rear tire where I had to plug a flat feels like it's bouncing and the metal brake pads I bought make a constant squeaking sound. As my second scooter, I'm still happy with it. I just hope it lasts the rest of the year. I'm thinking about putting electric tape over the connectors, but I don't know if that would help.

Xiaomi pro 2 ridden a year and a half in any weather from heavy rain to 4 inch snow, not too deep puddles maybe 2-3 inch max at speeds of 15-25 miles/hour with street tires haven't had any problems with grip in the rain and occasionally a bit of offroad ends up in my commute it's fine when you don't turn fast just ride straight with the front motor when offroad. I have only sealed the deck casing with rubber silicone and i have a silicone cover on the dashboard. The waterproofness of the scooter has even surprised me since at first i thought it was gonna break even in a little rain turns out that atleast the newer xiaomi pro 2 is quite water resistant. I wouldn't dare to ride it like you did since the chargin port is at a low height and the cover is a bit too small to cover the whole port. Overall even fantastic performance even in the harshest weather conditions very much surprised me and well the it didn't do too good in 4 inch snow i could ride like 10-13 miles/hour and it was slipping a lot, but that was not the reason i mentioned i mentioned it for the waterproofness aspect.

Another thing to consider is the wheel motors. Submerging the wheel motors to any degree can allow water ingress into the motor area which will short out or just generally ruin the motor. If you know what your doing it can be possible to clean them out and even possibly completely rejuvenate a saturated wheel motor altogether, but then there's also the power connection to the controller/controllers and even battery that could also get shorted to consider. It's a good thing if you can do your own water proofing of your wheel motors! You can open up the wheel motors and apply a waterproof seal of some sort that will arrest any water ingress into the inner workings of the motor. Ensure you use a material that will withstand the heat levels that the motors generate and conduct to where they are connected/bolted together. Properly waterproofed wheel motors will protect the inner electrical workings of the motor (magnets, coils, stator, etc..) and from water and make it close to impossible for water to ingress into the inner workings of the wheel motors and protect them. I would use a handmade waterproof material to use as a gasket along with some heat resistant gasket sealant like what you would use on your car when you replace a manifold, head or valve cover gasket. Ensure that you do not over torque the screws used to affix the two pieces that make up the motor and the wheel so as to not damage the seal you have just created when you reassemble the wheel motor parts back together. Remember there is tight but there's also such thing as too tight. You can test your seal by dropping them down in some relatively deep water for 24hrs and then drying them off and reopen them to see if your sealing is working. If you find no water ingress past your newly applied seal that should give you like a 99% assurance that your efforts worked. Actually operating the E-Scooter will heat up the wheel motors which will heat the sealing materials up. The heat will cause the seal materials to swell and actually create a more sure seal from water ingress. If you go to this much effort then you should look for any other potential places in which water may be able to get to the internal electrical parts or wiring. Ensure you properly protect those from water ingress as well. Just applying a bit of silicone in many cases will NOT sufficiently protect water from getting into your E-Scooter where it can cause a short or just generally damage it. Regardless of your E-Scooter's IP rating I would not trust it because all the E-Scooter manufacturers say that their warranty does NOT cover water damage not to mention the hassle by itself. Ensure that effective water proofing has been engineered into every part of your E-Scooter that have anything electrical (wiriring, battery, controller/s, wheel motors, etc...). Everywhere you find any vulnerable water proofing, install your own, and do it right, again in most cases merely applying some silicone will NOT be sufficient to protect from water ingress and subsequent damage! Then there is the bearings in the the stem assembly. These bearings are responsible for creating the smooth operation of the stem rotation within the base load bearing assembly that you stand on. As far as that goes, if you are fortunate your E-Scooter manufacturer used sealed bearings but even if it did it will still require added grease. I would use a very heavy (thick) packing style grease at these locations in order to maintain the water free integrity of these moving parts as not only will it serve to maintain the smooth movement of these metal on metal stress points but heavy grease will resist greatly any water into the inner workings of these areas. Now, these areas do not really heat up a great deal so any heavy grease applied will maintain its integrity for quite a while but will still need to be serviced (cleaned out and relubed) ever so often. It depends on how often and where you ride your E-Scooter. If you ride it a lot, ride it a lot in wet rainy conditions, go thru water puddles a lot, or more so use it off-roading a lot especially in very dirt and dust, gravel ridden areas you need to check it every 6 to 12mos. If your E-Scooter doesn't have sealed bearings then you will need to work the heavy grease well into the inner-casing for the individual ball bearings. A technique for properly applying grease to open-bearings is by placing a good size clump of grease in the palm of your hand and pressing the bearing into the glob of grease in the palm of your hand as to force the grease into the inside of the bearing casing. Do one side thoroughly and then flip the bearing and repeat. Do this until the bearing is thoroughly saturated thru-in and thru-out with the thick heavy bearing grease, then apply grease to the races with your fingers that house the bearing. Then carefully tighten the assembly back to the proper torque spec so as to NOT over compress the bearing in its bearing socket spacing. A good way to know the torque spec is when you begin to disassemble the bearing chamber to expose the bearing chamber and you are unscrewing the assembly that enclosed the bearing chamber use a torque wrench and carefully watch the torque wrench so that you can see what inch pounds you are at when the connecting bolt breaks free. That should be the same torque tightness that you should set your torque wrench when you have have finished cleaning off the old grease and regreasing the bearing and go to tighten it back up. You will have to be careful as you try to loosen the bolt or assembly to the bearing chamber because you will only get one shot at it. I am sure it will be now on to impossible to get the torque spec from the manufacturer, so this is going to be the easiest if not best way to discover the torque spec on your own, and all bearings have a torque spec at this point because every bearing compartment is engineered to be tightened to the optimal tightness that holds the bearings without any play, and holds in the grease without compressing the bearing to the point in which it adds friction and overrestricts the rotation of the bearing. Overtightening can also squish out some of the internal grease that you just applied. If you are unable to ascertain the original torque spec by this method just assess how much play and the rotation of the stem was prior to taking it apart. Then as close as possible tighten it down the assembly to a point that best recreates the way it was before you took it a part. You may need to tighten it a bit more after doing a little bit of riding (operating the E-Scooter and actuating the bearing assembly under a load) but whatever you do don't overtighten. Overtightening can cause the bearings to need premature reservicing or even ruin the bearings altogether!

As an eScooter technician, no matter how well eScooter is protected, every single one has a weak point - motors. Over some time, if eScooter is not well mantianed, water can get inside through bearings, especially if one ball bearong falls out. And it's not my imagination. I've seen it many times. It wil start rusting, but as long as you're riding it regularly, rust will grind against each other, but if you stop riding it just for a few weeks rust will build up and block your motor. Most common seen on Kugoo eScooters. Ireland is probably one of the best countries to test eScooter in rain and Iceland in extreme weather. Also therr is much better way of waterproofing eScooter but not with silicone. Small tip - It's used in the automotive industry. Anyways, great video. I dont doubt Inmotion quality because a long time ago, they had more advanced controllers than most of the industry, and I knew RS will be a beast.

@@SEN100N Ill give you a hint: Car engines. In order to operate they have to be sealled really well to hold compression, handle high temberatures but not with silicone. Its techology thats out there for extremely long time and cant be easier, cheaper or any better. Rubber seals and gaskets. Sadly nobody thought of that. Silicone is just cheapest and easiest thing to use but I can bet anyone any money that if you go with eScooter trough deeper puddle water will get inside. And Im actually planning to get eScooter "waterproofed" in few shops and prove it at some stage soon. SIlicone can increase water resistance but it will never make eScooter waterproof.

Ginger, I posted this question on your other topic about tires, but I miss my mark on the question, I know that water can short-circuit the electric parts if it gets in the battery compartment, but what I want to know is, will it? can I ride it if it starts to rain? I miss my mark cause I said water but I meant rain. Ofc I'm not going to submerge it in water, I just want to know if it safe to drive it if it starts to rain because they say on the manual not to drive it in the rain, so I don't know if it because of the safety of the driver or it will short the bike.. Here is the original question: "Ginger I have a question, I'm new to the e-scooter scene, I bought a d99 and I'm quite happy with it, it's a bit too heavy but very powerful. I do have a question about water, on the manual they say not to ride the scooter on water, but they don't say why... So it got me a bit worried, is it because of the driver safety for not to fall or is it because the scooter is not waterproof? I don't want to burn out my scooter.. The IP Rating is ipx5"

You can generally get a pretty good idea just by looking at it. Are there holes in the deck that cables run through? The wholes have any waterproof grommets or sealant? Is there a gasket in between the top of the deck and the frame? Did the buttons and switches look pretty covered in rubber or are they cheap plastic with lots of ingress points? All things you should keep your eyes out for.

sorry brother but you failed to account for speed. hitting that puddle was the same as submerging that thing to about 50 feet deep as far as pressure goes. that is way beyond what it is rated for and your motors are almost certainly full of water now. might want to crack them open and take a look. IF so dry out and spray down with some di electric varnish and you should be good to good. tech tip. pack axle from inside and out with geese to prevent water from wicking along the cables. as far as true waterproof it is doable but not cheap! all connectors have to replaced with REAL water proof connectors for starters...
