Please don't use enduro max fill bearings. I'm testing them without issues but performance line bearings have advised they don't last long in full rotation situations

I have a pw-se since 2018 and it's been under water several times including the battery connector Done 4125 miles so far never been opened and still runs like first day I'm speechless on the quality of yamaha motors especially the old models Sometimes I crave a new bike but I don't have a reason to get a new bike because my old sduro still runs just fine

On the older Yamaha motors the bearings were much bigger and lasted longer. If you look in the description of the video there is a link to lake district video. Then you realise I ride very wet long rides. A Bosch motor died on that ride as well. There all constructed similar and all get water in them it just depends on how often you ride wet and how good the bearings are for how long you get away with it

Great Video thanks. I've seen lots of advice to use MolyKote PG75 grease (plastslip) but it difficult to source unless you want o pay over the odds for 30ml. Any ideas on alternative grease?

Can you seal up these middrive motors to reduce the noise levels?
@LazyMTBrider
@LazyMTBrider 7 ай бұрын
Mid drives are ushally sealed from a noise perspective. Depending on the noise it can be a indicator of a failing bearing

Great video. How did you seal the remote vent tubing into the motor housing?

Hi I just used some locktite seal and lock. The pipe is modeling tube from eBay. In next version I will use a threaded barb.

@@LazyMTBrider Threaded barb is a good idea. I think i have the same motor on one of my eebs so this will come in handy. Thanks

Wouldn't petroleum grease be better for the connectors, we used to fill all our electrical connections on our motorbike enduro bikes for beach races etc, especially on KTM's?

Petroleum grease is better lubricant but that's not necessary hear. Silicone is more inert and better at higher temps. If you do a long mountain climb the outside of the motor can get extremely hot. Probably even hotter inside. Silicone is more stable in heat. So over all I think it's best for job.

Where did the vent pipe go to?

Is your motor still waterproof and working?
@CopperCityPatriot

That's a-lotof tinkering-around with an expensive component. Surely no company would allow a warranty-coverage, if this is done, and the motor...fails. Much the same as installing a speedbox, which voids any warranty. Your best option: Keep that expensive e-bike toy, out of wet weather. That includes humidity. Yes. Humidity damage also tends to void most motor brand warranties.

Quite right I mentioned in the description not to do this if you have warranty.

Circuit board? Use conformal coating for electrical board! Die electric grease for connectors .

Hi can you clarify the question ❓

It's ridiculous really that the tech is designed without properly acknowledging water ingress that causes so many problems. I'm on my second Yamaha PW ST motor after 500 miles in and 3 months from getting the bike new. It rains here in Wales and I can't split open a motor as will void warranty.
