As a mechanic, my only critique would be putting the plastic spacer between the bar and adapter. That will slightly increase the length of your frame and leave a slight gap between the parts where debris can accumulate. I would recommend putting your spacer on the bolt first so the frame parts are snug together. Either that or get a grinder where you can take a few threads off the bolt. The only upside I could see from putting a plastic spacer between the frame parts is vibration dampening. But a thin rubber sheet would be better for that.
@777Thibs Жыл бұрын
Or rarther than using spacers, he could just buy some shorter bolts (such as a kit with numerous lengths). This would give him some options for future DIY additions to the pit.

I literally just got my cockpit up and running. Full suite of Virpil controls with a TrakRacer cockpit along with some MonsterTech accessories. The cockpit and controls are great! The displays, I regret. I wanted to build out a wrap around setup and opted for triple 4K 55in TVs. All I can say is that it has been a complete nightmare. I haven’t really had a problem driving the displays thus far, but they don’t handle 2K natively, so I’m not as easily able to leverage lower resolution with ups sling well, but my 3090ti is doing fine for the most part. The issues all relate to actually using them as a super-ultra wide setup. Basically, the choices are, Nvidia Surround, which is extremely painful to use, or use independent displays. I won’t go into extreme detail as to why Nvidia Surround is painful, but anyone who uses it likely agrees and for totally valid reasons. It’s just not reliable. The other option of independent displays is great for games that support genuine multi-monitor gaming, because you literally configure how the game will render on those displays. For example, MS Flight Simulator works really well, albeit I’m severely struggling with getting good frame rates. But then there are the games that don’t support genuine multi-monitor setups. And total honesty, I started this project for Elite, and have learned the hard way that it does not support multiple displays well. For ED, you will absolutely have no choice but to use Surround or Eyefinity to use all three displays, or you will need to rely on weird custom resolution registry hacks along with third party tools to lock the display across the three monitors. But more importantly, the moment you load up the game and start playing it wrapped around, you’ll notice how weird it feels, and very much not in a good way. The problem is related to planar projection, which causes distortion of the view the further from center you are. Basically the image is being rendered and “projected” against a flat surface with your single view in the center. If the monitors are all in a straight line, the edges will LoK fairly normal. But no one is using triples to make a big wall. They do it to wrap the display around. And as soon as you do, you’ll notice just how warped those side monitors are. Now you are looking at them straight on instead of at an angle, and they are much closer. It can be really bad too. Lock a planet in your front sight and get to a point that it takes up about half of your display, then yaw to the side and be amazed that the planet becomes so massively zoomed in your peripheral that you can practically see surface details. I tried for a bit, but ultimately stopped using it because it was giving me a touch of motion sickness. It just didn’t scratch the itch well.

I find videos like this interesting to watch as my pit is much simpler but comfortable/useful. My only critique is on your rail mounted chair. Unless you have controls mounted off the chair, I'd rather have gone with a gaming chair on casters to save on cost, bulk and the ease of moving around. But you are building "your" dream so Cheers to you!

Nice Rig. The plastic washers may not be a good long term solution. I can see that point getting sloppy loose over time. If they're just a couple millimeters to long, better to just shorten the bolts with a Dremel or file, or if you have use for a M8 tap, just tap the holes deeper.

I'm curious I see u have con aplha prime I do as well infact I believe we have the very same Hosas setup including the z bar extension. My question is I use my left for throttle/travel controls and up/down strafe on z twist, yaw on r side z twist it feels great the controls are nothing but quality but I've had 3 issues recently. This is all in SC so it's 2 physical issues with sticks and 1 in game issue. My issues are that while using the z twist I've had the stick "break loose" (unscrew) from the bases and once without even breaking loose come unplugged from z extension bar. The in game issue is it seems as if my sticks are affecting my mouse, when on foot or in menu trying to select a contract my mouse stutters not allowing me to click unless I move the mouse and click at the same time. The in game issue is trivial but I'm wondering if there is a control set wrong causing this issue. And have u had the sticks break loose while using the z twists???

Nice, very inspiring! I am struggling to overcome two of the problems with my new self-built cockpit that I see you also have (despite you don't seem to have a problem with). One being, the gap between the seat and the Hotas is so small - I want to get in there more comfortably. I assembled one of these metal-turntable-bases you find under motorboat seats instead of a slider to my modified Obutto Revolution seat. The next being, the monitor is too far away for my preference. 60cm is prefect distance for me (LG 40"W). The monitor arm that is so widely spread would block the complete access to the desktop 😀Bad when you want less space and much space at the same time 😀 Any metaphysicists here who can help with a wormhole?
