4 0T spark plug and coil pack install

Thanks for this excellent video. It was the best one I found and was very helpful. I have a 2015 S8 4.0T that was due for new plugs and the procedure was basically the same as shown in the video. On an S8, there is an airbox on each side - I removed just the top part of both boxes and used the opportunity to replace the air filters. I did not remove those plastic wire/coil covers on either side. On each side, I was able to remove the vacuum hose at the front connection. These hoses were stubborn but when removed it was much easier to access the coils. I used a heat gun to help pull off those vacuum hoses. My coil boots were really stuck. On the first one, I pulled straight up on the coil and the coil separated from the boot. This is not a big deal because the coil can be reattached to the boot. The problem is that I now had to remove the boot in order to remove the spark plug. I panicked and tried to pull the boot out with pliers. Do not do this! I had to squeeze/pull so hard that I damaged the boot. Oops. The second coil also separated from the boot. This time, I removed the spring-like conductor that runs down the middle of the boot, then I sprayed some WD-40 down that hole and around the outside of the boot, then I used a long thin screwdriver to (carefully!) massage the inside and outside of the boot, then I shot compressed air down the hole in the boot. The boot blew straight off the plug and popped out of the hole! I used this same technique on the other boots that separated from the coils, although sometimes I needed to give the boot a little tug with my fingers while blowing the compressed air. I'm not sure why my boots were so stuck but when I reinstalled the coils/boots, I applied dielectric grease on top of the plug where it meets the boot and I rubbed some synthetic grease on the outside of the boot. All in all it was a successful plug change but Audi does not make it easy on us!!!

Man that's a lot of stuff to take off just for plugs ...lol The more things I do to mine I realize it's like a new diesel truck, change one part take 12 others off ..

How did you move the coolant reservoir out of the way?

Hi I never moved the coolant reservoir. You should be able to do this with it in the OE location.

Hi Devell, Are you speaking about the tool you can see me use at min mark 14:30? If so it's just a T handle wrench with a speed sleeve on it...
