As time pass by, Furina's character slowly became more and more interesting among the Archons. It's arguable to say that she's a better character than Venti and Zhongli since those two also holds a lot of interesting secrets, but she's certainly better written than Nahida and Ei. Nahida doesn't hide things and Ei seems to genuinely don't know anything. Meanwhile, Furina's character keeps "changing" so to say. First, we met her as this haughty god that is only bark but no bite. Then we find out that she's actually quite the pitiful character. And now, a number of details points out to the possibility of her being a perfect actress that purposely leads others to achieve her goal.

Seriously, it'd be fun to find out that Furina had simply been "acting" all this time. I mean... she does seem more like the "God of Theater" than the "God of Justice". For them to suddenly reveal that everything was just an act by Furina to lead Neuvillette, the Traveler, and the Fatui into doing exactly what she needs to stop the prophecy would be the best plot twist for her character. It also adds up to the idea that Neuvillette is bad at reading people's emotions since even he wasn't able to see through Furina's lies.

Just imagine at the end of the archon quest where the prophecy is fulfilled, the Traveler just stood alone in shock then the environment around them started changing, revealing a stage. Then the entire Fontaine cast shows up and bow to the audience and revealing the entire thing was just an act and Traveler unknowingly acted out the story with them. Because the Traveler was very popular Furina wanted to make a cool story with them as the main character to entertain her people, then it just cuts to people cleaning up and Traveler just stood there bamboozled

If you watch Fontaine overture teaser, you can hear Lyney saying multiple times about magic, scam and "it's all a show". That by choosing right time, right place and right people you can get utterly control on situation. So it's a good evidence Furina might be just acting all this time.

Arleccino also mentioned that she sensed that Furina is under a curse of some sort. Perhaps that said curse is what makes Furina weak and that’s why she’s so aplomb because she’s afraid to appear powerless. My guess that the Gnosis is what powers Oratrice D’Analise whatever the rest of its name is. And that it’s developed it’s own consciousness/personality with time. Furina seemed genuine when defending herself in front of Arleccino at first, then she put up an act. And it’s actually understandable that she did not think of a backup plan if she’s so sure that she will save Fontaine from the Prophecy. It’s also good to remember that Furina’s banner will be released soon. If it isn’t she than who will be the Archon in her place then? There’s no sense in designing a character so detailed as her just to be like “Or no there’s another archon guys and it isn’t Furina”

Exactly ! I personally think that Furina and Egeria are one of the same. Furina + Egeria = Focalors. Remember that Egerias body died in Tunigui Hollow but Rhukadevatta anchored her consciousness to the mortal World. What if, René or Alain when they were there took a piece of it and made in the Oratrice (which they wouldve build) ? Furina would then be a "human" body which she build for herself? The same way oceanid Can split themselves by creating a Lil oceanid ? Look Even Neuvillette who IS a whole New gen sovereign only had one arkhe alignement so for Furina to have both she would need to be 2 characters in 1 This will continue thé pattern of 3 forms of justice and te biblical references will continue to make sense. As such : The Father, the son, the Holly spirit. The Erennyes (3 goddesses of vengeance, 3 thrones) Liney, Lynette, Freminet Neuvillette, The Oratrice, Furina And then Neuvillette, Furina/Egeria . @@Sacration honestly, I wouldn’t want to see yet another story of “Two archons - one body” which started with Ei and Makoto and continued with Nahida and Rukhadevata bc it’s getting boring to see two archons that are twins/look the same 😅 Oratrice being the preserved consciousness of Egeria makes sense. The Gnosis is most likely in it too. And if our guesses are correct it would make sense for Oratrice to make Childe guilty on purpose so he gets dragged into the Fortress of Meropede to connect to what he’s “awakened” in the past. I wonder if he will be the key to resolve the problem with the prophecy. Can’t really say anything about the biblical references unfortunately since I’ve never dug so deep 😆 I only analyze what we’re given in the game

an aspect of Hydro Archon's being is absent. She's incomplete. Much in the same way that Nouvilette's memory is not complete. The part of her that is absent manifests as a personality. My crazy theory is that the people of Fontaine are portions of the Archon's being. The people of Fontaine were created from the being of the Archon. When all the people of Fontaine are disolved and return to her, she'll be complete, but alone.

@@Rainthority It is quite possible she will - there is a theory that all of Fountain people don't exist, because knowing about the incoming apocalypse Egeria had already drowned all people in Fontaine and remade them from parts of herself, putting also part of herself as new Archon to play this show, hiding from entire Teyvat the original sin, the sin of hydro archon. And if theory about archons being magical beaings of reach region (like Venti is a wind wisp, or Morax and adeptus), then Egeria can easily do this as she would be an oceanid, and they can split themsleves into many peaces, that can actually pretend to be humans. It could explain why all people in Fountaine are born with a sin.

It really does feel like furina is counting on something to happen that she either can't reveal or is not directly working on. It could also be that she boasts about her divinity so often because she wants to hide the fact that her powers might be completely tied up elsewhere.

I have the same theory, except in mine the clueless Furina is actually a different person's consciousness inside the hydro archon's body, which the actual hydro archon only uses occasionally. Both sound equally plausible, but yours is (imo) more interesting. The primary reason I know Furina is the hydro archon is the statue of the seven. Every statue is a perfect replica of the current archon of that area wearing different clothes. The best way to prove this is to look at the hair, it is always a perfect one to one replica, and the same goes for Furina.

To add, Neuvillette pretty much made it clear that he's not the Hydro Archon. So really, there's no other candidates left than Furina herself. What I would really like to see is what sort of connection Furina had with the former Hydro Archon. The only thing we know so far about her predecessor is after fighting the Abyss 500 years ago, that god turned into the Amrita Pool (yep, this is a detail that was given during the last dessert world quest).

I’ll be honest, I think Furina does not have two personalities. Instead, I think she made herself forget everything. Maybe she stored her real thoughts/ consciousness in the oratrice, and the indemnitium collected is used to restore her power. Could be she was indeed cursed by the heavenly principles and in order to restore her power, she hid her true consciousness in the oratrice and uses the energy she gets from trials. her physical body would be a clueless version of herself, but with a love for the trials. This could be the plan she has to stop the prophecy, but she doesn’t remember due to her consciousness erasing her memories.

I think Furina actually has a plan, which is to reverse the archon power and give it back to Neuvillette. Paimon asked why Neuvillette didn't just deal with primordial sea he answered that the basis of archon authorities was stolen from defeated sovereign dragon. Furina knew this and put Neuvillette as the Judge of fontaine and collect indemnitium through him as a process to return back the power. But she don't know how long this would take. That's why she got offended when The Knave accused her of doing nothing. This is also why she don't have her power and it's probably her other self in the Oratrice doing all this task while suffering alone.

Fun fact, from the latest world quest, we find out that the Indemnitium energy is actually dangerous to humans. So it's possible that it may be a form of energy that only dragons can handle. Which may also lead to the reason why as Arlecchino said, the Oratrice had been gathering way too much energy. If Furina's plan is actually to give Neuvillette his full power back, then it's going to further prove that Furina had been manipulating everyone (Traveler, Neuvillette, and the Fatui) to stop the prophecy.

Most people did call Venti weak, though. The ones that said he was “acting” were labelled “copium” because there’s “no possibility of him willingly handing over the gnosis Morax style because he’s not as powerful or cunning” even though he and Morax were the only two original archons left alive after three major wars and canonically trained Raiden Ei in fighting serving as her sparring partner. Furina is either acting or her other self was putting on the weak cowardly facade as part of her cover up, while the other self is doing something else. Her gnosis is probably powering the judgement machine. That probably has something to do with why the research institute is looking for an alternative energy source that powers the country. She’s stalling time between the search and the prophesied flood of primordial water.

Venti is cunning, not in a bad way, he works in a secretive way and he keeps plotting & keeps doing stuff being behind the scenes. He dissed Signora instead of fighting back, if you’re weak why would you dissed a more stronger enemy that could harm you even more? He must’ve had reason to do that; simply doesn’t care about the Gnosis, actually supporting Tsaritsa’s plan, or other reasons. Morax isn’t cunning or calculative, he is just logical but kinda lacks empathy, he weighs the option of making a contract with Tsaritsa more which benefits his agenda for Liyue. (Edit: eh, kinda calculative now I see it, but for his plan, because he’s not very calculative in keeping some Mora for himself, lol. I don’t see cunningness from him at all). Ei is just brawn, she doesn’t think in a humane way thus making decisions that humans don’t understand and resulting in wars. Furina is still a mystery.

The reason people assumed venti deliberately gave up his gnosis is because of mondstadt's history, time and time again mentioning the power of the anemo archon, and his supposed role in reshaping the land. He says he is the weakest because he isn't around and people dont have faith in him, but he is the only one with an actual church dedicated to him. Compare that to focalors, taking the seat 500 years ago, whom the familiars of the previous hydro archon actively refused to follow. I definitely think that there's a lot more to her, but its reasonable to think venti deliberately gave up his gnosis and knows more than he seems, while saying that for furina, with the information we have, is blind speculation at best. What I mean to say is that venti and furina's situations are entirely different

I think Arlecchino just left Furina alone because that'd cause a whole new crisis in Fontaine. If they found out their Archon died they'd not have the prophecy to panic about but their Archon's death and what danger they could be under to have caused the death of their archon. Not only that but she might've known the bigger consequences the death of an Archon could create. When the god of salt, Havria, died (explained in Zhongli's first storyquest) her power caused all her people to turn into salt and she was just a lesser god. If an Archon died who knows what whole new calamity it would ensue? Very interesting theory btw. If she was some manipulative genius that'd be quite the twist. I remember Venti saying he was the weakest among the seven and yet Furina makes herself out to be even weaker🤔

Anyway, I know she's cooking something. If you want to squeeze more, when you mentioned the multiple personalities, it reminds me of a character from Honkai Impact 3rd, the 5th flame chaser, owner of the signet of Helix, the greatest Magician of the Previous era, Vill V. She had 8 personalities in one body with each one act independently, but because of that, there were other ones who were erased, even the original Vill V’s personality sacrificed herself to seal the “evil personality”. Her motif is is of a magician and mechanic, which coincidence, it’s like Fontaine. She kept secrets and played her role to the point where even the evil personality “helped” to erase the current era Herrscher of corruption. She acted in the stage until the end.

What kept bothering me is why Neuvillette refused to answer when Paimon outright asked him if he's the real Hydro Archon or not. It should have been very easy to say, "I'm not", right? Also, there are locked voicelines on him regarding other Archons, but strangely, Furina's is the only one titled "About Furina" not "About Hydro Archon". And then there's his final ascension line. Currently I believe that's just showboating like other characters' final ascension lines, but what if, just this one time, it's not? On the other hand, Neuvillette's Arkhe is "only" Pneuma, and I believe whoever the Hydro Archon is, they would have access to both Ousia and Pneuma, since.. well, it should be the Archon's privilege. Really can't wait for 4.2!

I don't think she has different personality, my main 2 theories are: -She sealed her gnoses, divinity and parts of her memory into the Oratrice to make the machine works. The memory she sealed would be things related to the machine, including how she made it and what it's purpose. So she only knows that the Oratrice has something with her but does not know the detals. -She hypnotized herself into her current states, to deceive someone, or maybe something. I'd imagine her similar to Kira from Death Note, who also sealed his memory to deceive the polices.

Furina is an Oceanid, keeping up appearances for the Archon. I think she's a familiar of the real Hydro arcon who is currently sealed within the oratrice, likely searching for a way to save everyone from the flood with the power she generates. I believe that the real Archon is the voice heard from inside the machine during the archon quest. The current poetry event in Liyue shows how the water droplet symbol is directly related to Oceanids, it's the symbol that marks their birth and it's the physical embodiment of their heart when given to those they love. The event also shown us that oceanids can mimic the appearance of humans for a time. Furina is covered in these droplet symbols and even has them for pupils. (though i guess that could also be a point on favour of her being an archon whose familiars are oceanids). I think the heterochromia is a side-effect of her being gifted with divine power from the real archon so that she can keep up appearances without running out of power and transforming back to an oceanid.

I think furina split herself. The other part, the one we haven't seen yet, is implementing a plan to save fontaine. Considering how water entities work in this game, and how they can change form, that other part could be anything, perhaps even the oritrice itself, or a part of it along with the gnosis. Arlecchino says furina, the one we meet, is cursed. Maybe that curse affected her memory, and she no longer remembers the plan fully, and only knows that there is a plan in the works. Or maybe she hasn't forgotten the plan, but just can't implement it for some reason, like the curse or a lack of overall stored power. So if they need that power to save fontaine, and the way to generate that power is through trials, then how best to do that? Make ridiculous laws that ensure many more people than usual end up in court. Then, make that court a spectacle. Make it the event to attend. So that's what the furina we meet had to do. That's her role, that and to keep a positive appearance with her people. Be in the spotlight and keep their attention. That's why everything about her screams "look at me." Meanwhile, her other part is elsewhere, I think in the oritrice. While we haven't met her yet, we may have heard her. She's who is crying in the fountain. She's been alone for potentially hundreds of years, and she hasn't handled the solitude as well as Ei did.

I agree with most of the theory, but i still don't understand how it shows whether she's strong or weak. Arlacheno doesn't deem Furina weak at any point in time, she stops herself right before dealing the killing blow because she was able sense or was able to tell that Furina didn't have the Gnosis with her and thus made her assassination meaningless. As Arlacheno did mention Furina even when facing certain death did not act like an Archon and even felt that Furina had a curse on herself, and it's not possible to fool Arlacheno with a "Act" as she even specifies that the fear in Furina's eyes is genuine. Now when you compare this to Venti who calls himself the weakest of the 7, when facing one of the Harbingers knowing that there was no way of getting out of this (wherher or nor he was putting up an act) still kept yp an arrogant front, he was talking down to Signiora even after the Gnosis was brutally ripped out of gis chest unlike Furina Furina who wasn't even touched which shows what Arlacheno means when she says fhat Furina doesn't seem like a God at all

This would make so much sense and makes me think of an idea I saw someone mention around Fontaine’s release, what if the final confrontation in Fontaine is a court case, Furina vs the fatui (mirroring the first cases matchup-ish) where Furina is convicted of fraud and traveler has to defend her while protecting her secret.

On contrary, we have been exposed to furina like no other archon before yet she hasnt used her powers a bit. Venti gave his power to Dvalin in the cutscene after taking away the corruption energy over it, probably the Anemo Gnosis is irrelevant without that power, bright way to misslead the fatui, that or he might want the fatui to success, in the case of Furina, I think shes the archon and probably in future acts shell need to find the strenght in her and defend her nation, she might also be a doppleganger and the actual Furina be somewhere else or the gnosis be in the opera judge machine.

I personally think that Furina and Egeria are one of the same. Furina + Egeria = Focalors. Remember that Egerias body died in Tunigui Hollow but Rhukadevatta anchored her consciousness to the mortal World. What if, René or Alain when they were there took a piece of it and made in the Oratrice (which they wouldve build) ? Furina would then be a "human" body which she build for herself? The same way oceanid Can split themselves by creating a Lil oceanid ? Look Even Neuvillette who IS a whole New gen sovereign only had one arkhe alignement so for Furina to have both she would need to be 2 characters in 1 This will continue thé pattern of 3 forms of justice and te biblical references will continue to make sense. I believe she has multiple personality, well *had* . We knew for a fact that serious girl voice that was talking to Neuvillette was Furina's. I do agree she's not 100% dumb but I just think the current Furina we met is just alarmingly too incompetent as an archon, I don't believe her wiser personality is still exist in this world. the thing with venti... we see his power first hand... we see what he can do... and we see what he is capable of doing (golden apple). Venti also provoking Signora is proof that he intended to get attacked. he intended to be defeated... furina on the other hand.. all that we see is her weakness. all that we witness in fontaine is her lack of power over it. everything that has happened up to that point only showed her incompetence and lack of divinity. Furina constantly rubs it in our face that she is an archon and that she is all powerful but we dont see any proof of that. we actually see the opposite!... venti on the other hand keeps insisting that he is the weakest and he is powerless yet we see him reveal his divinity from time to time and that we cannot believe what he is saying and that he is hiding his true nature..... that is the difference between her and venti.....

Lol imagine furina is just a more severe version of Layla's condition, nothing to do with her being conscious but just being oblivious of her other, much more powerful persona. It's kinda odd how she sometimes act all-powerful. She seems so arrogant when judging others in the courtroom, even when accusing the traveller, who is known to have gone against other powerful archons. Quick note: Especially due to Furina keeping herself in the dark I wouldn't call what she has as a split personality as that's an outdated term with people who have it. These days it's called Dissociative Identity Disorder. Of course in fiction there will be artistic liberties but the main focus are amnesia and alters(people sharing one mind/body) due to repetitive trauma in early childhood. So as far as Furina not knowing her plan and her design representing duality I can see that she might not know but the artistic liberty may be Focelor keeping info from Furina on purpose instead of their brain doing it as it's current trauma response. Also another liberty may be the lack of dissociation but the way one body dissociates can 100% be different from another. I will also like to say that I am NOT an expert on this. XD I child took a child development course and watched a lot of DissociDID

I believe the Furina we see in game is a hydro duplicate of the real Focalor. Hydro and it's region is all about mimics and deception, so if the god locked herself away inside the oratrice and put a duplicate out into the public then it would make sense. Something like the real Furina operating the oratrice to make the true judgements on cases

The difference between the attack on Venti and the attack on Furina is Venti didnt beg for his life, I believe that part of the reason for his alcoholism is the crap hes seen and been thru ( Furina is a young archon compared to Venti and Zhongli ) and perhaps guilt of things hes done for celestia that he may not have wanted to do I believe Venti knew why Roselina hated him and maybe he felt guilty and even felt that the attack was deserved, so he didnt fight back. Just my opinion . ^.^
