Make sure you watch the Lifetime movie The Clark Sisters: The First Ladies of Gospel and tell everybody about it. Over 11 Million people have watched and this is HUGE for the church in my opinion. Now let me repeat this. If YOU GUYS are going to call Denise a whore because her children don't have the same dad then why not Mattie? Or if that isn't a fair comparison because her children are allegedly from her first husband - then why not AT LEAST call her an adulterer for being married twice? (Please note that’s y’all in comment section that started calling anyone a hoe not me). According to Denise the other sisters didn't KEEP their children so somebody besides her was allegedly having sex so why not call them out? All I am saying - BE FAIR. And let's remember the narratives about Denise has been going on for 41+ years without any real convo about what really went down. The show UNSUNG from about 10 years ago even had a narrative that goes along with this movie's narrative that cast her in a bad light. Denise's interviews with me was HER TIME to tell HER SIDE. I think it's unfair y'all calling her messy the moment she tells her side. And as for Twinkie's husband - we HAVE to consider that he is saying it did NOT happen and that he and Mattie and Elbert were the only ones there (although the movie put Twinkie there). That means that whatever Mattie or Elbert said happened is what everyone is repeating as the truth. If it wasn't them that started that rumor was it Twinkie or Jacky? We have to CONSIDER whoever told the story that way could have lied. Could Johnny be lying? Yes. Could Kierra, Larry Clark, Jacky, or whoever says he did it be lying? Yes of course. We also have to consider every person (even if their last name is Clark) that says it happened WAS NOT THERE AND DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE - just like you and I don't.

This person added that last portion about spouse cheating after the fact and remarriage. Read the remainder of Chapter 7 which also talks about marriage between a believer and an unbeliever. God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16) and even wants unequally yoked marriages to stay together. If a non Christian mate chooses to leave a Christian mate then the Christian is free to marry a Christian mate. Christian marriages are only broken by adultery. God is for all people honoring the marriage commitment they made before him.

Yes, according to scripture divorce is allowed when a spouse dies or if the other spouse commits adultery. Then the remaining spouse is free to divorce. If the spouse that committed adultery remarries, that person causes their new spouse to be in an adulterer. You can look up these scriptures. They are in the New Testament.

Twinkie validated her wanting to leave the group because she wanted a life free from the sisters and her controlling mother..The story is not an autobiography. It was a entertaining movie. All movies have creative license to embellish facts for entertainment purposes. I actually don't believe any of them are telling the truth. I believe John Terrell was abusive. However, rather it was physical or not is not the issue. Verbal abuse can be more damaging than physical. It is obvious that there was problems in the marriage between and John and Twinkie because Twinkie is estranged or divorced from John Terrell to this very day. I believe John Terrell was an opportunist. I believe John was abusive to his wife and his mother in law. I think there was a power struggle between Mattie and John Terrell for control of Twinkie's life. Both of them have done damage to Twinkie that only God can deliver Twinkie from.

I was disappointed how the movie portrayed Denise and Twinkie. It's funny how Jackie, Dorinda and Karen made their lives look perfect. And that Dorinda going to the bridge but it didnt tell you what was going on for her to get to that point. Karen and the surgery secret that millions of people have everyday and Karen's husband be portrayed as pristine and an angel! Ok. Nothing really about Jackie's life. However, the issue that many who really know their story (including Denise’s eldest son) is that Twinkle and Denise story or “secrets” were told to the world of people who are being introduce to the Clark sisters (because it wasn’t just “Church People” just watching)while the other sister “actual” stories weren’t really told. I’m pretty sure all of them have their trials., but Twinkle’s and Denise were put on front streets, while the others can be lock and saved. Also John Terrell has been getting bullied and threats (on his Facebook, look at the comments) since that one scene. So yes while everything you said is true. But when you are doing a BioPic and you we including minor characters, you have to get both versions to make the scene more accurate. We don’t know if “all” the sisters were interview (and even though many would say they were, the actresses that played both twinkle and Denise, didn’t get to truly study and ask questions about things in their lives, like Kierra did with her mother, or like the other ladies who played Dorinda and Jackie did). Or we don’t know if they even reach other to the other ladies’a husband to get their side of the stories...

Thank you for your reply. I still don’t think it’s that deep. I know of the sisters but never knew the history. I didn’t know who their mom was. I enjoyed the movie as it was. Sorry Twinkie husband is being harassed. Truth is something did happen and we will never know what that actually was.

I don't know exactly HOW true it is, but I've heard it be alluded to (without names) in Part 4 of Denise's interview with Larry Reid Live. They speak of scandal and infidelity between sisters and husbands, AND that the sisters got into a fist-fight. I did some digging and found those names on a couple of forum discussions.

Dorinda was referring to a lawsuit that COGIC faced back in the 90s and Dorinda was named on it b/c of a bad decision that she made. She took the fall for it and COGIC leaders & parishioners blamed her for the lawsuit. That, along with Mattie's passing, is what led up to her suicide attempt. The court documents are online.

Biopics will always be controversial! In this situation there is 5 sides to this story! Each one the sisters will have their own point of view of how what went down PERIOD and there will continue to be this back and forth of stories! I myself just like everyone else would love all of the sisters to reconcile and work things out but after all these decades and at their age now, I really don’t see it happening! I agree. I don't see the point of the movie and all the issues it has now stirred up. I am not going to watch it. I want to have a clear mind towards her legacy. That this was a great Christian woman who did the best with what she had at a time in her life when the odds were against her. But she kept on praying and working for the Lord, the best way she knew how. IN MY OPINION:: As I listened... I think it was an altercation of some sort BECAUSE he says they moved to NY but "wasn't getting their mail..."? I believe the family was holding Twinkies checks so she HAD to move back home. 😏🧐 I believe the husband went to Twinkie parents house as the "Man" of their house and had some words and things got escalated BEYOND the respect Mrs. Mattie Moss Clark would normally receive (and threats were probably exchanged on both parties 😂🤣) THIS story kept growing & GROWING over the years...in my opinion! 😏😎 Jackie has been wanting revenge since and put her spin on it in the movie. 😎 🤣😂🤣So what happened?
