@@kadatheklund2904 to quote Nahida: "If the stars dictate destiny, then do you think that destiny is something that is unchanging and always follows predicted outcomes?" and the Traveler answered: "If that were so... Rtawahist would have achieved one of their ultimate goals." So it's not as straightforward as the stars "holding your destiny". If the firmament just reflects the flow of the leylines, then ultimately the decision of destiny was made on the leylines. The parts of a leyline can be classified into 2: 1) the actual "river path" of a leyline, where elemental energies flow. 2) the "water" of the leylines, which are elemental energies which are memories. In other words: destiny itself is made by the flow of memories. thus, those who produces memories hold the real control over destiny, be it in a small or big way. and who produces memory? The ones that are experiencing everything, no? ps.: and water reflects the stars. Such is the principle behind Mona's hydromancy. She's practically reading the "routes of the leyline river" via reading the reflection of its inverted reflection (which are the stars).

Yeah it specifically says there's only one Loom of Fate. Besides which none of the examples suggested by Ashikai as Looms of Fate (besides Irminsul of course) actually change fate. René doesn't, Deshret doesn't, Remus doesn't, the Akasha doesn't, the Bottleland thing doesn't, and Sacred Sakura is just the Irminsul tree again. None of them add memories either. Certainly not as weakly as Caribert does.
@Ashikai6 ай бұрын
@@davidjohnson8273 I see you missed the point. Which is fine. Judging by your reddit post, you don't subscribe to the idea that Irminsul is only editing memories but is instead editing time itself, so we will naturally have conflicting opinions on the subject. That's totally fine. But I feel like you've misinterpreted many of the things I've said which was perhaps my fault for not being as clear as I could be, but if you would humor me for a minute, I'd like to at least clarify a few points. I don't particularly care about whether or not someone disagrees with me, but I do want to make sure that those disagreements are based on the initial intent rather than an interpretation, especially a biased one. When I say there are "multiple looms of fate," what I mean is "there have been multiple attempts at creating looms of fate." Perhaps only Caribert's will be truly successful, but thematically, mechanically, the examples provided in the video are the ATTEMPTS at making a Loom. They weren't complete, and therefore, obviously, did not manage to change fate. That was kind of the point. Do you expect every inventor to achieve a perfect prototype the first time? Absolutely not. There will obviously be a fair bit of variation in each attempt. To me, there's a pattern. If there isn't one for you, that's ok. You also seem to be quite hung up on the whole "the loom will gain three abilities: memory creation, alteration and deletion" thing while missing the main point which was that a completed loom of fate operates at a different SCALE. This is partly my fault as I probably did not word this as well as I could have, so allow me to clarify: Caribert's incomplete loom of fate can only create/insert memories and only at a small scale - a few people at a time in a village. But the argument was that once his loom was completed, he would gain the other two abilities while changing the scale of the ability from that of a few individuals, to that of the planet. I didn't mean to suggest it would be a gradual thing. If he is to become a new Irminsul-type entity, then he HAS to obtain those abilities because Irminsul has them. That's all I really wanted to clear up. I don't expect to have changed your mind, as that wasn't the goal, and I don't intend to try and refute your arguments because that's not really what theorizing is about. I like exploring possibilities, no matter how likely or unlikely they may be. It's a bit boring if everyone agrees on everything. Happy theorizing~

great theory! i have 2 things to add 1. you did mention tree thingy in Bottleland but i want to say that there was also a tree in Caribert's consciousness. 2. i think the reason why Abyss twin can't use loom of fate to its full potential is because they are not a Descender, Traveler can do it because Traveler is a Descender that's why Remus couldn't change fate, he created his own pen(Phobos) to write new fate but he couldn't reweave existing fate(Irimnsul's ley lines) because he wasn't a Descender Rene, instead of creating his own fate, was trying to become a Descender type being to change existing(Irminsul's) fate instead i agree with your Makoto point, she literally says that Inazuma will be free from Heavenly Principles right after Ei plants Sacred Sakura it's also interesting to point out Arlecchino's ability to affect memories(Irminsul memories), like delete them and also manifest them(those smol ghost thingies and straight up little Clervie), her being an "artificial Descender" theory has more things supporting it now PS: what's really cool is that we have seen so many attempts to either create new fate or becoming a Descender-type being to change existing fate but our lady Focalors here said "fuck all that" and instead of writing(weaving) her own fate or rewriting(reweaving) existing fate, she decided to become the "Director" of the story and just change the understanding/interpretation of the said script, as she had the creative liberty to do so as the Director, hence her tricking/deceiving fate. it's a pretty unique approach.

Maybe this is a terribly obvious connection to draw, but as you were talking about the statues of the seven and teleport waypoints being connected to Irmensul and its leylines, it made me think that the traveler going around the world activating all of them is a process of us connecting ourselves to all these focal points of the leylines, and therefore Irmensul, so then you have to wonder what happens when we've connected to every point on the map? When we light up the entire map, perhaps we will have integrated ourselves so completely with Irmensul that we'll be able to take it over. Potentially no time shenanigans involved

@Ashikai - probably unrelated, but in the second Golden Apple Archipelago Special Event, the Fatui had a malfunctioning device that could completely modify the physical world by acting on the memories or dreams of those within its sphere of influence. The physical domains we completed in the event were created from our companion's minds and memories. Unsure what the power source and tether for the device was, but it was inferred that the device was mimicking or harnessing the lay lines to create the alterations. Perhaps this device was an early attempt at a Loom of Fate by the Fatui? I honestly can't remember much of the event's plot and details but it feels relevant if Hoyo keeps creating variations of the same theme. Anyways, amazing video as always!!!

Something came to my mind while you were talking about the Statues of the Seven. What if, capturing the travelers was a plan from Heavenly Principles for them to do the dirty work, collecting the oculus and thus recovering Celestia's powers? And that would be why there is always an oculi left. As the twin of the abyss failed in this mission (since she abandoned the journey) the Heavenly Principles resorted to plan B, the other traveler. And send Paimon to secure that, this time, he follows the jorney to the end. In the end, we are the ones who will awaken the Celestial Principles, just because we are running after primogems, haha!

19:24 I have a little problem with this part. Inazuma may be free of the Heavenly Principles, but they are still part of Irminsul. The Sacred Sakura did not create a new ley line system separate from Irminsul, and we know this because everyone in Inazuma was affected by Scaramouche when he removed himself from Irminsul.
@Ashikai6 ай бұрын
That is true, but the way I was thinking of it was like - if you have two trees side by side each other, they will be drawing from or even sharing the same nutrients and water. If memories and energy are the nutrients/water then you can get the same memories moving between the two. The bigger point is that if one tree dies, the other tree won't. If heaven moves the stars expecting the ley lines to adjust themselves to match, only Irminsul's roots are gonna move, not the Sakura's. In hindsight, I did not make that part of the argument very clear.

I don't remember if it was on this channel that I saw a theory about the loom of fate but if it's true it would be very interesting. According to this theory, the loom of fate of the abyss order would have the power to transform the world however they wanted based on the same way that heavenly principles change and control the world. It would be through the spiritual veins which are like the ley lines and they are actually above the ley lines and control them as well. This is because the means by which heavenly principles control the world concerns the destiny of all things. Therefore, it is a power capable of changing not only the planet but also the history of the people who live on it. If so, what would the abyss do with this power?

Not sure how much sense this makes (or if it's even correct lol) but now that the abyss order has obtained the eye of the first field tiller and their loom of fate has actually been completed with the addition of the core, Caribert probably pulled a Makoto and did some time shenanigans, going back to take the photo and plant it in the traveler's pocket and then erasing the memory of that encounter itself, similar to how Makoto had Ei plant the seed 500 years in the past, and then used the power of that completed loom of fate (so the sacred sakura) to make it seem as if the sacred sakura was always there to everyone except for Ei. That's how I understood it after this ashi theory at least :p

I just want to point something out that I found while looking at the waypoints and statues In-Game: A while back, somewhere around 4.0, I noticed khaenri'ah lettering on the fountain in the akademiya and wondered if there was a way to translate it. After a long rabbit hole, and a bunch of looking through the genshin wiki, reddit, ect, I managed to find a transcript to translate it. I ended up getting gibberish the first try, which then repeats again around the fountain until the point I started the translation, but, after a while of starting the translation in different places I ended up getting "novum nihil sub sole" which is Latin for "Nothing new under the sun". Now, you may be wondering why I point this out, but in the sumeru statue description that phrase is QUOTED. "As it is said, 'There is nothing new under the sun.' The ancient realm of wisdom has weathered calamity just as the statue gazed down at the cycles of rebirth." The most likely reason for this quote, is because this phrase is a bible verse. "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." This is especially interesting considering it references the fact of cycles, of things being done over and over, that you will never do something 'new' which is a pretty common theme in teyvat. This also helps show the theme of which you're trying to convey in a way, and honestly, its very interesting that this quote specifically is brought up more then once. I have a lot more to say about this, and do with it what you will, but just some food for thought. Note: I'm unaware on if this occurs anywhere else, or if it is something irrelevant now, but I simply wanted to share it just in case.

I don't usually comment but i have a crack theory that i want to share As speculated in the video, a Loom Of Fate is made up of 3 main parts; A tether, aka a person connecting the loom to the world. A power source, which is self explanatory, and a core or a seed from which the metaphorical or literal tree or loom grows. Now we also know that dottore might try to burn Irminsul down which would destroy the already existing fate of everything from Teyvat and also burn away all memory from existence. But also without Irminsul, no new memories can be stored, so hear me out; what if the traveller becomes the new Irminsul? We already know that they get power from the belief of people (example, the last chapter of the Liyue archon quest) so that could be the source of power, the traveller themself the core and most likely Paimon as the tether. Now this theory could be disproven very fast but one can hope.

19:30 this also explains why Miko and Ei were talking about another war coming to Inazuma, because the same way Fontaine infringed the Heavenly Principles with Focalors giving the authority back to the dragon, Ei and Makoto did the same creating a "new Irminsul" for Inazuma. All of this happened after the cataclysm, when the Heavenly Principles already was inactive, so they faced no consequences yet, but they will. What you said in the end of the video, about the Fatui goal of burning the Irminsul, i'm thinking the exact same thing since i finished the quest... Tsaritsa already knows the concept of Loom Of Fate, observing and collecting info about what happened in Remuria, Sumeru Desert, Khaenri'ah, Fontaine and Inazuma, and instead of create her own, she wants to destroy Celestia's Loom Of Fate. All tries to disconect people from their fate, creating a new one, at least until now, failled and their fate reached them in the end. So, what will happen if we simply destroy what control their fate in the first place? Considering the amount of relation the Fatui and the Abyss Order (Khaenri'ah) have, they could be working together, or one knows other goals, and will try to use it for it's own purpose.

The eye thing is interesting because I made a diagram of Teyvat and the planet it’s on based on what we know, and it looked like a massive eyeball with Teyvat itself being the iris, the firmament being the cornea, and the blood vessels permeating the eye being Irminsul. As Khaenri’ah is frequently described as having a sky, moons, access to the Abyss (outer space?), and is often symbolized with upside down structures, I interpreted it as being on the surface, but on the other side of the planet (assumed to be underground because the people of Teyvat likely dug there). This would correspond with the fovea, or the blind spot of the eye. “Where the gods’ gaze does not fall”.

To address the constellation map at 7:04 (also see edit in which I address our missing pyro powers), I quickly tried this out with some newer additions. Qiqi's constellation definitely has a pretty accurate projection on Chenyu Vale, definitely more true to the constellations original shape than the one shown in that map too. Some other attempts on new(er) characters than the ones tested for Liyue: - Kinich's constellation can overlap the Scions of the Canopy area very well I'd say, to the point you'd need far less distortion than what's applied for certain constellations on the example map. - Kachina's constellation is difficult to overlap well, with the best spots leading to one or two waypoints ending up in the void above the Children of Echoes area. Perhaps with a future expansion, we'll see waypoints pop up here though. Same story for Xilonen's constellation, except one waypoint is missing in the void to the bottom left of the Children of Echoes area. We'll see if they expand into that area in a later update. - Mualani's constellation could technically work, but either there's hidden waypoints underwater that'd make it fit better, or you'd have to make the angles way stronger between waypoints, which definitely feels like a stretch. - Yae Miko's constellation can fit onto Narukami Island's waypoints rather well with some little distortions, nothing more extreme than what's applied in the example map. - With some slight path warping, you could make Kokomi's constellation overlay quite well on Watatsumi Island. Overall, for all the characters I tried that came out after that map was made, their constellations seem to overlap the teleport waypoints in their espective relevant areas in Teyvat from what I'd rate between " overlaps really well" to "it's a stretch but you could still argue for it". EDIT: Another thing I would like to note on is your theory on our powers being "stolen" and trapped in Ley Lines, and that we retrieve them through the respective statues of the seven once we arrive in a new region. If this is true, that would actually be quite a good explanation of why we have not been able to unlock our pyro powers at the time of writing this comment, even though we've been able to complete four whole acts of Natlan's archon quest. After all, Natlan does not have stable, deep rooted ley lines the same way that the rest of Teyvat does. No well-connected ley lines means no way to access and retrieve our pyro abilities. Perhaps a stable ley line network will be established in chapter V act V/VI, which leads to us finally being able to retreive our pyro powers. If so, that would also fully confirm that our powers are indeed stored in them, and by association, in the Irminsul.

7:15 , i decided to check to see if theres a set of waypoints that fit qiqi's constellation better in chenyu vale, and there is! if you use the chenlong cleft waypoint as the leftmost star and the underground mt. lingming waypoint as the top of the bell (not the handle, the one above that is the handle), it overlaps much better. however, possibly discrediting this theory, i personally could not find anywhere to fit gaming or xianyun's constellations in chenyu vale.

I had a thought, I don't know if it contradicts any of the lore, but what if the twins lost different aspects of their power? The traveller obviously loses their light-based power, but keeps their star power or ability to resonate with wills. What if the abyss twin kept their light-base power, but lost their ability to resonate with wills. And what if this had led them to making decisions without the backround guidance of those wishes, which is why at the end of Bedtime Story they say they feel guilty? Just a thought.

That picture confuses me a bit when it comes to how canon it actually is because on the one hand, the traveler literally comments on it being in their pocket, hinting at it not just being a non-canon gift item like some event stuff we obtained... But on the other hand, the quest directly ends after it and it's never mentioned again afaik. You'd think that the traveler, not remembering they even met their sibling there and considering their reaction whilst meeting their sibling, would have a bit more of an on-screen reaction to this picture... Or would mention it at least once in his monologues/dialogues in Natlan thus far.

6:28 I'm just gonna say, as someone who got a little too much into alchemy... That rings a bell. Specially knowin that alchemy is the study of leylines in Genshin Impact. So for you see, in real life alchemy there is a famous quote from the Tabula Smaragdina from Hermes Trismegistus that says the following: "Quod est superius est sicut quod inferius, et quod inferius est sicut quod est superius" In english "That which is above is like to that which is below, and that which is below is like to that which is above" also known as "As above so below", and let's remember that both Mona and her master have the title "megistus"(the master having the "Trismegistus" version, even, as she is called Barbeloth Trismegistus)

I haven't seen anyone talk about it, but this video made me think that Tsaritsa's objective is to take away the power celestia has over irminsul and control it with the gnosis, and this is supported by pierro saying about rewriting the rules of destiny. Also, they may be trying to destroy irminsul and start a new one on their control, as dottore burns the irminsul in the trailer and the gnosis may be to create the new one.

I wonder if the 'eye' portion of a loom of fate has something to do with a requirement of a 'witness'. bedtime story really drove home the point that even if caribert could not physically exist, he could exist and influence reality via the memories of himself implanted in others. he existed because he was essentially 'witnessed'. so, if the 'eye' of the irminsul loom of fate has gone missing, then the traveler's role as witness as they experience the various nations (and the many ways those nations turn away from celestia) is even more interesting than before. what better way to reweave irminsul than by inserting some rogue code? if one witnesses hundreds of stories of people breaking free of celestia's order, slapped it on a USB stick called 'Traveler', and plugged it into irminsul, surely that would influence all of teyvat's reality to break free of... whatever is really going on here.

That concept technically did happen in Genshin's parent game Honkai part 1 story. In a way, the Honkai trio found a way to 'embrace' Finality without resetting the current world, and Elysia cutting the threads of fate in the previous era, allowing some of the current era Herrschers to maintain their humanity.

that was the irminsul of Ay-Khanoum. the ones we often see as "roots of Irminsul" are actually dead roots of Irminsul. While the ones that are active are like the Great Sakura Tree, for example. They don't exactly look "white" while breaming with life. (Whitening is part of them being dead, such as petrified.)

Wait, wait! So the entire Aranara quest also is centered around us creating another Loom of Fate and a tree that gains power from collective memories and dreams of aranara? And also, also, when you finish the quest and get the Bija fruit, you can manually climb all the way up the old tree trunk, solve a couple of puzzles to get 2 remarcable chests. And inside them are models of carpet weaving stands!

It may be a stretch but it's also possible.

Something else I’d like to point out that wasn’t mentioned in this video(2 actually) is the extra samsera cycle and the war Ei mentions In the Narssizenkreuz quest, the tower in Fontaine contains a letter that describes how the entirety of Teyvat is expieeencing and has experienced samsera cycles, meaning more than likely, there is a point in time where everything is reset and done over until maybe a specific goal is achieved(I personally believe project Stuzha mentioned by the harbingers will play a role in ending the samsera, especially with the gnosis’ gathered together) Secondly, Ei mentions a war at the end of the Arataki Itto Rock & Roll quest, my assumption is the war being mentioned either includes the Fatui vs the Abyss or it is a direct war between all of Teyvat(with the dragon sovereign leading the pursuit) and the heavenly principles) I believe Teyvat may use the same method that Inazumans used to defeat Ei to defeat Celestia

Something I've been thinking about is, if Azursite was used before the dark cores and the eye of the first field tiller uses a power source other than the dark power source, then its possible the eye is made of Azursite. Meaning, the Loom of Fate can harness condensed elemental energy. And if gold is color coding for the merger of all the elements, then its possible the new leyline weaves will also have the ability to support the current elemental power system

About memories and Traveler's resistance to their alteration, I think it's a matter of quality of memories. Dreams are normally quickly forgotten. That's why both Sabzerus samsara (that happened in a dream) and events in Karibert's dream world could be forgotten, while memories of the waking world are immune to alteration.

@Ashikai when you mentioned the time stuff with Ei, that does remind me of how Mauvika percieves time. I'm guessing that could be relevant in the future. 🌚

On the subject of the waypoints and constellations, i'd like to point out that when you place the buildable waypoints they form out of constellations, as in the animation shows the "skeleton" of the waypoint as if it was made of connected stars, and then the waypoint materializes around it. Also i think the hint that the loom of fate was already operational is that the little caribert doll on top of the tree was there from the very moment you arrive in the sumeru village, so it was already capable of changing the "real" world.

Can't wait for the reveal that this Genshin timeline actually takes place on Earth, which is the Teyvat of the future or the past
@vanessachowjiaying44236 ай бұрын
Many have forgotten Genshin is still one of the many key collective stories within the Honkaiverse, where all of their games have the same overall theme of overcoming fate/repeated cycles. The idea of a new fate for each region by overcoming the set orders/cycles is similar to Elysia cutting the threads of fate of Earth's samsara cycle initiated by Finality, allowing the current era to at least fight back. In part 2, each of the bubble universes in Mars have their own Anchor, which keeps them from dissolving within the Sea of Data. The layers of the bubble universe, which either support/crumble each other is similar to the different layers of Teyvat, a leak might lead to a total change.

Ashikai, I think i have something to support your crack theory. I think you're right about the traveller becoing the tether for the loom of fate at the end. But its not the Abyss twin's hopes and dreams that becomes a part of it, It's everyone else's. Let me cook: In this case, The traveller's inventory is actually PART of the lore. Like have you noticed how whenever we finish a quest, we then get an Item to be sort of like a memento of that event? Well I think those mementos represent the people in Teyvat's hopes and dreams which the Traveller will use at the end of their journey to be the loom of fate and reweave Teyvat's fate. When you mentioned how a person themselves can be a tether, this possibility struck me and it kinda clicked.
@lrp716 ай бұрын
Thematically, a lot of Genshin is about Traveler starting to care about the people of Tevyat and their fate. Traveler initially didn't care--they were going to leave and go to another world, in fact--but as they've gone looking for their sibling, they've met many people along their journey and begun to be concerned about what happens to them. As much as players complain about talking to NPCs, I think it's actually a very deliberate choice. We see that even the "ordinary" people of this world (those without Visions or in positions of authority) have hopes and dreams, and often possess a strong will to make them happen. Traveler is definitely "collecting" the wishes of the people they encounter and preserving them. Even the dead, like Ruu, get to live on that way. Maybe I'm optimistic, but I hope that means people like Ruu will get another shot when the Traveler reweaves Fate...
@pandamoniumB6 ай бұрын
@@lrp71 right! I believe at the end of their journey the traveller might have to choose between using the loom of fate in favor Khaenriah (The abyss twin's wish), or the wish of everyone else in Teyvat
@pallabmajee83846 ай бұрын
I have a crazy idea again...I think the world of genshin revolves around two different but parallel axes...time and memory...and they overlap each other. Now the traveller or more specifically the decenders are maybe more of a being of the time axis rather than the memory axis...so they remember it if the changes are done only in the memory axis. Incomplete loom of fate or attempt of scara fall in this catagory. While if you have full acess to irminsul or have a completed loom of fate, you now affect both the axes. Makoto's sakura planting and the reunion of the siblings happened in this scenarios so the traveller's memories matches the rest of teyvat. I also think the sinners ( and maybe whoever is controlling celestia) somehow have managed to stay outside both the axes. And thats what their world shattering powers stem around. Do you people think it makes any sense?

Can’t help but wonder if our traveler is a clone of the third descender, a memory clone, and the third descenders soul is actually irminsul and his body was turned into the gnosis and the original traveler (lumine) used something like a loom of fate to bring your character back to life and that’s why you were asleep for 500 years…
@darknight17606 ай бұрын
Everything could be simpler - we are the 3rd descender. [conditionally simpler, since I cannot reliably explain really important details with current info] *crack theory taken out of nowhere* We have been destroyed or self-sacrificed in the past (for unknown reason), and our power was divided into 7 gnosises in process. At the same time, we also lose almost all memory of this place + some hibernation period for 500 years, if not more (similar as Kusanali "wipe", but even tougher; we were technically killed, if memory lose can be considered such, as Arlecchino said) But the origin of our abilities (to absorb and use all elements) may has connection to Teyvat itself, and it's ley lines - thanks to that, we were able to restore low amount of our previous powers. This would at least somehow explain our connection with the statues. I'm just still haunted by the fact that Venti remembers us - it seems he already knows us and our forgotten past (if we additionally refer to his character dialogues). This is not even a theory - just speculation. Thanks for reading if anyone has decided to do this

Ok, so before I watch I want to lay out what I’ve been thinking. I’ll come back and see what I got right: The loom of fate is indeed the 2nd one, the first was made by the primordial one and I’m assuming they used either the king of dragons or the 2nd who came as the catalyst. There is the unlikely 3rd scenario that has the primordial one as the catalyst, and the unknown god as the 2nd who came and current weaver of fate. Obviously the abyss wasn’t happy about that, and seeks to control teyvat itself with their own loom.

So it's pretty obvious that the twins are from the era of the unified civilisation right? and that's what "homeland" really means. (Not that they're the common humans of that time, they're still more important than that). Because we know Khaenri'ah is literally an offshoot of it and was the only surviving part, because they hid underground from the gods, that's still connected to Teyvat (unlike Enko). And it's why they're somehow already so intrinsically connected to the world, like when traveller says the Inteyvat reminds them of the flower of their homeland; because it is and Khaenri'ah then adopted it as their national flower. The twins just world-hop and ours gained decender status upon re-entry at some point just like Nibelung is said to have, or something like that. Also this is a comment I left on Rooze's community post so I just thought I'd put it here for more eyes: The Khaenri'ahn curse works like the Inteyvat flower because the whole theme for them is not being able to return home. Being a godless nation is blasphemous but that's the choice they made so when a full-blooded Khaenri'ahn leaves and steps outside of Khaenri'ah, they'll be cursed with immortality; forced to forever wander under the gods essentially. But the moment they step foot back on Khaenri'ahn soil, they'll die just like the flower because they're not allowed to go back home. This is how Clothar managed to do it, he either died there and someone brought him back to be burried with his wife or he somehow got the soil from Khaenri'ah and was burried in it. And half-blooded Khaenri'ahns are seen as forsaking their home nations and their respective gods so if they wish to live in Khaenri'ah, they best stay there because if they try to come back home and enter Teyvat, they'll turn into hilichurls the moment they leave (the curse of the wilderness), just like Hleobrandt. Obviously the home theme works more for full-bloods because technically hilichurls can go "home" to their original nations, they just lose themselves and idk why specifically they would even have to become hilichurls instead of just dying like full-bloods as well so there's clearly more to it but still. I think I saw this in the comments of a My Name For Now video ages ago, though I can't for the life of me remember which one so shoutout to that person for saying this idea.
